At Chapman Valley Primary School children are nurtured, educated and challenged in

a supportive and safe learning environment. We use the best teaching and learning

practices to develop balanced, capable and creative adults who value achievement,

motivation, life-long learning and pride in their school and community.

Dear Parents and Community,

REPORTING TO PARENTS

It is our duty to inform parents in a formal manner twice a year on students progress. The teachers are constantly collecting data and using the data to inform future plans and programs based on the curriculum requirements and the students needs. We would like to convey to our parents and students that a C grade attained in the student report means the students are at level and have achieved at their year level. If your child attains a B or A it means that your child is performing above the achievement for that year level. It means the teachers will be extending your child not teaching your child the next year level curriculum. If your child attains a D or an E it means that your child has not yet developed a thorough understanding of the curriculum at their year level in that learning area. Please read your child’s report with your child and we will schedule time for parents to come and speak with teachers regards the reports.

KINDY ENROLMENTS 2019

We have received 3 enrolments for 2019. We are having Kindy orientation days on Friday 9th,

16th and 23rd of November from 9-12. Kindy orientation this year will be done in conjunction

with the parent staying at school with your child. If you know anybody around the community

who we haven’t got on our enrolment list yet please encourage them to come to the school and

pick up a pamphlet about the orientation day.

POLICY UPDATES

We are in the process of finalising our uniform and behaviour management policy ready to be

part of a welcome pack for 2019. The board will ratify these at our final meeting.

ATTENDANCE One of our targets in our Business Plan in our priority

of “A Positive Learning Environment’ is to maintain or

improve the school attendance rate so that 90% or

more of our students attend school for at least 90%

of the time. For weeks 4-6 of term 4 our whole

school attendance is 97%.

If your child is sick it is important they stay home to

recover and that you notify us of the absence. Keep

up the great work.

At BEARS club each week we give out an attendance

award. Tokens are given out to students who attend

the 5 days of school that week and then one token is

chosen for a pick out of the prize box.

Our school has 3 values that all revolve around our overarching value of Kindness. In

the past weeks we have focussed on Kindness to Ourselves and Kindness to the Envi-

ronment. The students have been nominating other students who they see demon-

strating the current Value of the Week.

The principal pencil in week 4 was awarded to Christopher for showing KINDNESS to

ourselves for always getting on with his work and completing tasks. In week 5 Ryan

received the Principal Pencil by upholding the value of KINDNESS to others by taking a

library bag to someone on the bus.

Love of mankind, and

Love of Life itself

Let us remember

So many hearts make a school

Friday Hot Lunches

We sell pies, pasties and sausage rolls for lunch

on Fridays. Please write your child’s name on

an envelope with their order ready for our

councillors to collect from classrooms.

Pasties = $2.50

Sausage Rolls = $2.00

UPSIDE DOWN CHRISTMAS TREE

As a Chapman Valley Primary annual tradition, each child is asked to please bring to school a present valued to

approximately $5.00, suitable for an older lady or a gentleman: for example biscuits, powder, chocolates.

These will be blessed and then presented to the Nazareth House residents on the Students’ End of Year Excursion on

Thursday 13th December.

Community members are also welcome to drop off presents. If the gift is for a special Nazareth House resident, please

label with their name.

It would be fantastic if the presents could be sent into the office ASAP and labelled either ‘male’ or ‘female’ or ‘either’ if

it is a gender neutral gift. This is a wonderful school tradition that teaches our students the joy of giving and making

someone’s day special.

Thank you to the Smart family for our amazing Beebots!!!

Recycling at School

WASTE FREE LUNCHES AND SNACKS

The students are watching carefully what they are bringing in their lunchboxes in terms of

packaging and wrappings. We do have a soft plastic bin to recycle these items and we are

encouraging the students to reuse snap lock bags. We are encouraging the students to

bring food items especially sandwiches in reusable containers or beeswax wraps and small

snack items in small containers.

SCHOOL BOARD NEWS

Hi Everyone!

Our next and final board meeting for 2018 is coming up on Monday 12 November at 3.30pm. Term 4 is usually a big meeting. We will be discussing Parent/Staff/Student surveys, Data Analysis against the Business Plan targets & milestones, Contributions and Charges for 2019, Preliminary Budget & Plan for 2019. We hope to finalise a Community Rep for 2019. We look forward to seeing the final Behaviour Management Policy and Uniform Policy in preparation for 2019 Welcome Packs. If there is anything you would like to have put to a board meeting before the close of the year, please give the Principal a call or talk to one of your board members.

Both Maree Humphries and my 3 year terms will end this December. You will see plenty of reminders about that coming up to the end of the year as nominations and elections look like taking place at the very start of Term 1 2019. We would like to ensure this opportunity is available to any new parents coming to the school next year so our timeline will be short. Last meeting we moved that all terms go back to being 3 years as our succession plan of staggering term lengths has now done its job. Parents can renominate – there is no limit on the number of terms, only that they come up for election.

Your current parent board members are: Maree Humphries, Tenille Webb, Breyley Lauritsen, Fi Lord, myself. Staff members include: Jo Luxton, Jane Barndon & Kristy Blanke.

Again, we choose to hold open meetings here so parents are welcome to attend – just let us know so we can make sure we have enough chairs! Only board members can vote. Many boards/councils only hold one open meeting each year. Ratified minutes are available to peruse at the front office. As are the Acts and Regulations we operate under.

All the best, Renaye Stokes, Chair, 0408 290 781

TRASH AND TREASURE Chapman Valley Primary School will be holding our annual Trash and

Treasure on November 30th.

If you have anything you would like to donate to our Trash and Treasure

please drop your goods into the school office any time before November

30th.

COMMUNITY NEWS

Volunteers Needed!! The Chapman Valley Sub Centre is requiring volunteers! If you are interested in becoming an ambulance officer then please give us a call.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver or officer or would like some more information then please contact either Gerard on 0428 648 494 or myself, Chrissy Philippa on 0498 999 766.

Rigters Shop4Schools Wow… Thankyou community for helping us to get extra funds into our school. Recently we received a cheque for $569.48 in the mail from 2017 Shop for Your School programme. We obviously had many parents and community members donating points to our school. THANKYOU! SO please help us to gain another cheque in the mail by shopping at the local Rigters supermarkets in 2018. People who shop at either the Queens IGA, Rigter’s IGA on Durlacher St, or the Wonthella IGA can donate points accumulated to our school. These points accumulate throughout the year and are converted into cash, which is then donated to the school. If you happen to do your shopping at one of their supermarkets, you can continue to donate your points to our school as an easy way to fundraise.

REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AROUND THE SCHOOL

If you happen to see anything that looks suspicious around our school, please

contact the Northampton Police Station on 99347600 or

Jo Luxton on 0429 977 603.

Please ensure you take note of vehicle number plates and other

details should we need to assist police with their enquiries.

We are intending to enter teams in all of the junior age

groups, and would love to have your support.

For all enquiries please contact
