SEPTEMBER 2009 NEWSLETTER Welcome back! Or hello for the first time! We are so excited about this new school year. As you have probably seen, we have been very busy over the summer. A BIG thank you goes out to the many students and parents and teachers who put in countless hours to make these changes possible. We are nearing completion of our lunchroom\gymnasium. We have added 3 new classrooms and a brand new science lab. Concrete was poured for a sidewalk to connect the school to the lunchroom. We still have a bit of construction underway in the back area of the school. We are a work in progress. As well as new buildings and classrooms, we have new teachers and staff at our school this year. The first two or three editions of the newsletter will be dedicated to these new members of our beehive. So, who is this crazy, talkative, loud Latina some of you have for a teacher? It’s Mrs. Solorzano, Mrs. Solo, Ms. Solo, Mrs. S! I’m originally from Nicaragua. I arrived to the United State at the age of nine and lived in Florida for many years. Then, our little family had an awesome opportunity to go to school in California. So, we sold our stuff, packed whatever else we didn’t want to sell, and moved to California. After two of our most amazing years in Cali, we moved to Utah. My family and I have lived in UT for a year. I have two cute children and a totally awe- some husband. I love teaching Spanish. I also have other interests, yes people…teachers have a life outside of school =) Sometimes I like to exercise. Sometimes I need to exercise. I enjoy hiking, camping, can- yoneering, dancing, swimming (but I need my goggles, otherwise I freak out), cooking for family and friends, reading, yoga, traveling, talking on the phone (what a surprise), and making new friends. I like doing all of those activities even if I can’t do most of them well. The best times and memories I’ve had are when I’m doing things with my family, no matter what it is.

School calendar I would like to introduce myself. I have a B.A. in English from BYU and teacher credentials from Westminster College of Salt Lake City. Soon I will complete an M.A. in English from Utah State. I taught high school language arts for over five years in southeastern Utah on the Navajo Indian Reservation. I enjoy reading and writing poetry, mak-ing armor, biking, and spending time with my family. I am excited to be at Beehive Science and Technology Academy!

Hello, my name is Anja. I took the place of Thomas, so I will be the new per-son in charge of mostly attendance. I am from Sarajevo, Bosnia. I am a sophomore in Westminster Collage, and I plan to go into Political Science and International Economy, my emphasis is on history and globalization. If I’m lucky enough to have free time, I sleep, as well as dance and play Capoier (Brazilian Marshal Art). I’m always pleased to meet the students and the par-ents, so you are welcome to stop by. Candy donations are more than welcome too!
