MIDDLE SCHOOL
PRODUCTION COMING
SOON
Make it a date. In the last week
of term, the Middle Syndicate
(Year 3 and 4 classes) is
presenting their production of
“Terrific Tales”.
There’s a matinee show on
Wednesday 24 September at
11am and an evening show on
Thursday 25 September at
6.30pm.
Tickets for both shows are $2
each and are on sale now at
the office.
MINI WHEELS FUN
This week has seen lots of
Miniwheels fun thanks to Mrs
Smart and her TravelWise
student team. One of the aims of
TravelWise is to promote
students being active including
coming to school by foot,
scooter or bike. At Hill, any
student can come by scooter if
parents think they can do so
safely and children who are 9
years or older can cycle on their
own after a parent signs a
permission slip available from
the office.
Miniwheels ends with Senior
Miniwheels tomorrow.
FRANKLIN CROSS
COUNTRY CHAMPIONS
Fantastic results!
Congratulations to our top
athletes who qualified at the
Central Group champs to
represent Hill at the Franklin
zone cross country. Competing
against Franklin’s best, with
fields of over 50 in each race,
our team had some of its best
results ever.
Top 10 placegetters in their
races were:
Bella Earl (8)
Georgia Carter (3)
Bradley Morrison (2)
Tory Jones-Bruce (5)
The good news continued as our
runners were part of the Central
Group team which took out 1st
place in 3 of the 4 races and 2nd
in the remaining race!
SUPER SPELLERS AT HILL
Congratulations to all 27 Y4 – 6
students who were selected to
sit the spelling competition for
Australasian students organised
by the New South Wales
University. There were
excellent results with 12
students: Luke Davies, Jonathan
Larsen, Brian Ling, Kate
Mercer, Alex Ranger, Keane
Wikiriwhi, Sadie Caine, Asahi
Smith, Cameron Baxter, Kyle
Davies, Jessica Pressnell and
Morgan Twiss receiving top
25% Credit Certificates.
The great news
continued with
Andrew Cotter and
Hannah Davis
achieving Distinction
awards for being in the
top 10% of the
thousands of entrants
across Australasia.
2015 CLASS PLACEMENTS
If you would like to discuss any
placement options for your child
for 2015 including the Maori
Enrichment class for Year 5 – 6
students, please contact Assistant
Principals Wendy Bates (Year 1-
3 classes) or Malcolm Laurence
(Year 4 – 6 classes) or Graeme
Rix at school.
BOOK FAIR
NEXT WEEK
Next week, from Monday 15
September, before and after
school, there’s the popular
Scholastic Book Fair in our
Multi Purpose room, next to the
staffroom.
A great opportunity to buy great
books at great prices, and
excellent for birthday and
Christmas presents.
Children will be able to write a
Wish List of books they would
love to have (if they could).
Parents can browse and
purchase books before and after
school, and during our Open
Evening on September 18th.
We need a team of parents to
assist with the sale of books
during any of the open times.
Please contact Mr Laurence or
Mrs Bates at school.
MAKE IT A DATE!
OPEN EVENING NEXT
THURSDAY
Next Thursday 18 September
from 6.00 to 7.00 pm, you’re
invited to an Open Evening at
Hill.
This is an excellent opportunity
for families to visit their
children’s classes and for
students to talk with you about
their learning and what’s
happening in class. Students
have had a focus on “Culture”
through their learning inquiry
and have lots to share with you.
You can also call in to the Multi
Purpose Room to check out the
Book Fair display.
Make it a family date now!
