    Summer UniformSandalsAll MIS students will be required to wearsummer uniform sandals from the startof term four.A reminder that there has been a change inUniform Policy; from the start of 2012 all MISstudents (boys and girls) will be required towear traditional, regulation black romansandals duringthe summer terms.

    These sandals are nowavailable from Harrys Menswear& Surf from $45.00 as well asother shoe outlets.

    Merit AwardsExcellence Awards

    Yesterday MIS hosted the annual Piako Cultural Fesval; everyone involved had an awesome daythe students performing

    all looked and sounded amazing. As a school community it was a great day to showcase our school, our dedicated Kapa

    Haka and to provide a fabulous day for our community. This year there were thirteen schools and early learning centres

    performing.

    Thank you very much to our school families and the wider Morrinsville community who have helped with the planning and

    seng up for the day. It is great to see schools from the community come together and celebrate what has been a very

    successful event.

    Morrinsville Intermediates Kapa Haka has been working hard for yesterdays performance. As a group they performed

    exceponally well and we are very proud of them. Tumeke Kapa Haka Group. Many thanks to Ed, Tarn and Karla Tuira for

    their hard work and dedicaon to our school.

    Our Kapa Haka Leaders Maraea Hopa-Cribb and Kingston Higham proudly wore our newly-blessed korowai, these have been

    kindly donated by the Higham Whanau and Mrs Jan Illinsgworth.

    We are at the end of another busy term and everyone is looking forward to a restful holiday ready for the nalterm for this year! Term four starts on Tuesday 25th October as Monday 24th is Labour Day (Public Holiday).

    MI Mates Rugby Raffle

    Our nal MI Mates fundraiser for 2011 was a RugbyRae in conjunction with the Rugby World Cup.

    The 1st prize was a signed 2011 Hurricanes Jersey.

    The 2nd prize was a 2011 RWC rugby ball signed by pastand present All Blacks.

    The 3rd prize was a large goodie bag of Waikato Chiefsrugby merchandise.Thank you to all families and the Morrinsville communitywho have supported this fundraiser.

    Morrinsville College Enrolments are now well overdue!

    If your child will be aending Morrinsville College next

    year please ll out the yellow enrolment form ASAP if

    you haven't already done so. This form was sent hometo all year 8 students mid-year by the college along with

    their prospectus. Enrolment forms can be dropped o at

    our school oce or the college oce.

    MIS Athletics & Sprints Day

    Our Athletics & Sprints Days are being held during the

    first week of next term. Athletics Day is on Thursday

    27th October from 9.00am to 3.00pm. Students rotate

    through events. Sprints are held on Friday 28th

    October from 1.30pm.

    Students are encouraged to wear a sun hat and will

    require a large drink for the day and their ownsun block.

    Students are permitted to change into a T-shirt in their

    Team colours (Tainui = yellow, Aranui = red, Aotea =

    blue). T-shirts must be appropriate for school. Stu-

    dents must wear their black PE shorts. (Full school uni-

    form is to be worn to and from school).

    Families are very welcome to come along and support

    the students on either or both days.

    Japan ExchangeWelcome back to Mrs Marshall, Paris Lowe, KeleraFisher and Charlotte Richardson who have been inJapan for the last two weeks as part of the annualYear 8 Cultural Exchange. They had a fantastic timeand we will include a full report and photos next termin the newsletter.

    MIS Hockey Team Win FinalCongratulations to the MIS Hockey Team who havewon their Waikato Grade Final against Southwell5-0. This is the 3rd year in a row that MIS has wontheir final and we are very proud of the stronghockey teams we field each year.

    Congratulations to the team as well as their coachNathan Phillips. A full report will be included in thefirst newsletter back next term.

    Late Students: We have had an increase in studentssigning in late recently. Please remind children that school

    starts at 8.50am and students who sign in late not only

    miss important morning noces but also disrupt the rest of

    their class. Students who are consistently late will be asked

    to make up the me missed during their lunch break.

    Gym SportWe would like to congratulate Hannah Wilton who isrepresenting Waikato in November at the NationalGym Sport Competition being held in Timaru.

    This is a week-long competition and Hannah will becompeting at Step 6.

    Kids MarathonOn Sunday 2nd October I ran in the Kids Marathon 2011 in

    Flagstaff Park. Bunting from Classic Hits was the announcer,

    and Mr Hume was there too. I was in the top 20 to finish. Itwas a fun day and it was great to compete against so many kids

    of many ages. I came home with a medal and a t-shirt.
