This year we had a very enthusiastic group of 17 students that made up the Morrinsville IntermediateHockey Team. We were entered in the Waikato B Grade competition. The team gelled well and wentfrom strength to strength throughout the season winning most of their games. With these successesbehind them, they ended up playing o in the nals against Southwell which would be a strong opponent.

The MIS team played exceptionally well to take out the B Grade championshipwinning 5 -0. A bigcongratulations to all the team; what a great team e ort! They have all made me so proud.

A special thank you to all theparents and supporters, wecouldn't have done it withoutyou. I hope everyone now hasa chance to rest before look-ing forward to the nextseason.

On Monday 19th September Charlotte Richardson, KeleraFisher, Paris Lowe and Mrs Marshall began their journey toMakuhari, Japan at 2.30am. After a 12 hour ight we arrivedat Makuhari Junior High School tired but excited to meetour host families. Our host families were amazing; theywere kind, generous and we learnt so much about the Japa-nese culture. Some of the main di erences were catchinglots of trains, waking up early to get going to school as itwas not a 10 minute walk down the road, going to school ona Saturday and how dedicated they are to their studies.

We visited many of the tourist attractions around Tokyowith the highlights being Disneyland, Disney Sea, the TokyoTower, Akihabara (a technology city), Lalaport which isgigantic shopping centre 10 times bigger than Chartwell(which we got lost in!), the Japanese Gardens and experi-encing tea ceremonies when we had an interesting lookingand tasting green tea!

We all had an amazing two weeks in Japan and wish toreturn some day as we made new friends which we will keepfor many years to come. For any Year 7 students who areinterested in experiencing a trip of a lifetime, start saving
