Economy & Policy:

Reserve Bank of India eases financing norms for infrastructure, affordable housing projects, has

exempted long term bonds from mandatory regulatory norms like CRR and SLR if the money

raised is used for funding of such projects.(ET)

Trai has reduced ceiling tariffs of dedicated broadband lines, called as DLC and are mainly usedby business houses and telecom operators,by up to 60 %. (ET)

Thegovernment is open to buying equity in some of the 189 stalled highway projects where Rs

1.8 lakh crore is locked up due to myriad pending clearances, in a bid to jumpstart the highway

Commodity News:

West Texas Intermediate for August delivery climbed as much as 49 cents to $100.45 a barrel in

electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange and was at $100.39 rebounded from the

lowest price since May as Chinas economic growth exceeded forecasts and crude stockpiles shrank

in the U.S., signaling increased demand from the worlds two biggest oil consumers. (BB)

Gold for immediate delivery traded at $1,296.58 an ounce from $1,294.05 yesterday, as the outlook

for higher borrowing costs in the U.S. strengthened the dollar and damped demand for an

alternative investment.(BB)

Silver for immediate delivery rose 0.3 % to $20.7429 an ounce after prices tumbled 3.6 % in the twodays through yesterday.(BB)

Zinc contract for delivery in three months on the London Metal Exchange increased as much as 0.6

% to $2,311.75 a metric ton and was at $2,311 climbed to trade near a 35- month high amid shrinking

stockpiles after economic growth expanded more than estimated in China, the worlds biggest

consumer of base metals.(BB)

Wheat for September delivery rose as much as 0.7 % to $5.415 a bushel on the Chicago Board of

Trade and was at $5.4125 advanced, extending a rebound from a four-year low, as some investors

ended bets on losses that were spurred by forecasts for surging global supplies.(BB)
