YPF Side Event The Iranian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (IRNCID) is planning to hold the Young Professionals gathering at the time of the 21st ICID Congress on Irrigation and Drainage and 62nd IEC Meeting in Tehran, Iran, 17 October 2011. This gathering would be a golden opportunity for young professionals to engage, network, exchange ideas and share experiences in a warm and friendly session during the magnificent ICID 2011 events. Young professionals attending this event on behalf of their National Committees (NCs) will be making brief presentations on the activities and achievements of their YPF’s. The young advisory board of the Ministry of Energy, Iran will be also involved in the gathering by presenting its activities and achievements which could be interesting for the participants. In addition, young professionals will have the chance to discuss and put forward the challenges and constraints of their participation in ICID annual events and congresses. IRNCID looks forward to welcoming all young professionals during ICID 2011 international events in Tehran.

IRIB International Conference Center (IICC) As the venue of the ICID 2011 International Congress, IICC Conference/Exhibition Center is Tehran World Class meeting and convention facility with the 20,000 square meter complex, located on the best northern part of Tehran. IICC is close to the Esteghlal Hotel which is the main

accommodation for the participants of ICID, Tehran Congress. IICC is famous for holding high level international events such as the Asian Pacific Broadcasting Unions (ABU), the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Leaders of Islamic Countries Conference, FILA Congress, Caspian Oil and Gas Resources, UNICEF meetings, Iran Petrochemical Forum (IPF), and frequent national events, i.e. visits by the President, the Vice President and foreign heads of Iranian Organizations. The management team of IICC Conference/Exhibition cooperative with Tehran departments such as Transportation, Parking, Police, Airport, and any other agencies. The seats include 700 in the main hall, 350 in Molana hall, 170 in Faiz hall, 170 in Attar hall, 100 in Mofid hall, 70 in Shaikh Baha hall, Several meeting rooms (each one: 20-80 seats).

All halls and rooms are equipped with:

• Infrared language distribution system • Delegate Station • Interpreter system • Channel selectors • Loudspeaker cluster

Introducing Isfahan Tour Tehran congress proceeds by two technical tours and two post-conference tours respectively to the Mazandaran, Khuzestan, Isfahan, and Shiraz province. These tours have been anticipated to be scheduled for the interested delegates and accompanying persons of which the details have been informed through the congress website. Brief information on Isfahan tour is pointed as follows:

The golden era of Isfahan began in the Safavid period, (17th century) during which Isfahan achieved worldwide supremacy in terms of wealth, majestic buildings, unique urban planning and attractive prosperous bazaars. As historians have recorded, the population of Isfahan then reached one million persons.

In those days, Isfahan was considered an international political and commercial center. The great countries of the time, such as England, Portugal, France and the Netherlands, had diplomatic and commercial representatives in the city. The most important monuments of the historical city of Isfahan also date back to this period.

Some of the main areas of interest in Isfahan include:

Esteghlal Hotel is really recommended. It takes only 3 minutes by bus and 10 minutes on foot to reach the Congress Venue;

Enghelab Hotel is placed almost in the center of Tehran, and it takes 45 minutes from hotel to the venue by Rapid Bus Transportation (BRT) in both heavy and light traffic hours;

The BRT line is near the congress venue and it shuttles between the venue and the city center;

Technical Tours on the north of Iran are scheduled in green, beautiful cities near the coasts of the Caspian Sea, as well as, on the south of Iran where unique historic water structures are considered the most important ones in Iran, shall be arranged for the delegates. Such memorable tours are highly recommended.
