January Adult Bible Study “We can’t learn anything from a person or a text we think we’ve already got figured out. In order to revitalize our relationship with scripture we’ve got to let it be strange again. Fortunately for us, the Bible is actually pretty unusual, once you start
to look at it.” This five part video study produced by the Synod of Mid America, encourages us to encounter the text as a stranger. As we look at Old and New Testament texts we will attempt to set aside the desire to come to conclusions about what these texts mean and instead ask ourselves - “What’s unusual here?” We will begin on Sunday, January 12, 2020, 4:00 p.m. in the room behind the stage. Happy New Year!! As we begin another decade, life seems to just spin by.
We will begin this year with our Montreat College Conference January 2-5, 2020. The theme this year is “Sabbath Keeping” and it will be nice to have some Sabbath rest after the busyness of the holidays and ski trip.
Terrific Tuesday will resume with school on January 7th.
Route 456 will be going to the FSU art center on Thursday, January 9th. I will pick up RFM youth at the school and we will go straight over. The cost for the outing is $10. We will paint from 4-6 and have pick up at the church at 6:30.
Capture the Flag will be on January 11, 2020 at the May Farm. This is our annual 850 event that we host and we welcome all of the Tallahassee churches over to be a part. Fellowship and fun are had by all.
I will be attending the Association of Presbyterian Christian Educators January 28-February 1 in Little Rock, AR, looking forward to learning a lot and catching up with colleagues.

College Montreat January 2-5
We live in a society that tells us to go non-stop. We celebrate those who are constantly busy and consider those who
take time off to be unproductive. The practice of Sabbath invites us to be still and know God, any day of the week.
However, the reality of our society and the economic demands of our world prohibit many from even considering a
few hours of rest. Join us for 2020 College Conference at Montreat as we explore the ways Sabbath influences our
faith, impacts our personal well-being, and promotes justice and care for our neighbors and surrounding creation.

Exceptional Student’s Christmas Party The Presbyterian Women delivered your gifts for the Gadsden High
School Exceptional students at the annual Christmas party. The students were so excited and the joy of the season was reflected in their smiles. The Presbyterian Women would like to thank you for your generosity
in supporting this program.
This Advent our theme was “Straw for the Manger.” Each week we added straw to the manger to represent our doing for others and acts of kindness. The first Sunday of Advent was HOPE - we made ornaments for Thornwell Children’s Home. The second Sunday of Advent was “LOVE” - we brought toilet paper, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and socks for the Food Bank. The third Sunday of Advent was “JOY”- we brought individual applesauces, granola bars, water, crackers, socks, kleenex, and chapsticks to fill bags and distribute to those in need. The fourth Sunday of Advent was “PEACE”- we wrote letters to our soldiers.
