Apgar Wed Their Marriage Takes Place* At St. Andrew's A 50TH BIRTHDAY CAKE F OR THE AMACKASSIN CLUB Miss Alice J. Buteux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Buteux of 17 Birch Road, became the bride of E. Reade Apgar, 60n of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Apgar of 2 Oakmont Avenue Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The ceremony took place at*St. Andrew's Memorial Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. William Hicks, rector, officiating. Music was provided by Robert Huntington Terry, organist and choirmaster. The bride wore a gown of Chan- tllly lace over white satin, made in redingote style and a fingertip length tulle veil. She carried white Japanese iris and sweet peas. Her matron of honor, her sister, Mrs. Nicholas S. Lefor was in white starched lace, with a large white hat trimmed with violet velvet. She carried a nosegay of pink roses and carnations. Miss Mary Keane of Yonkers and Mrs. Arthur Blanchard of New York, the other attendants, were in white also, wearing mousseline de sole frocks and large white hats with aqua velvet trimming. Their flowers were nosegays of pink roses and lavender sweet peas. Irving T. Howorth of Albany was Mr. Apgar's best man and ushers were Wilson Crum, the bride's brother-in-law, Mr. Lefor, and Frederick Mortensen. Jr., all of Yonkers and Albert Sharp of Mount Vernon. The bride's mother's gown was of moonlight gray crepe and her ac- cessories were fuchsia. Mrs. Apgar, mother of the bridegroom, was in Copenhagan blue lace with navy accessories and wore a corsage of pink sweet peas. A reception for the immediate families was held at the Hotel Gramatan in Bronxville. After a motor trip the bride and bride- groom will live in Tarrytown. She was graduated from Yonkers High School and he attended Gorton High School. Season Opened At Milton Point Yonkers Residents Attend Dinner-Dance Personal Mention Yonkers, Bronxville, Tuckaboe and Scarsdale residents were among those attending the season's open- ing festivities last weekend at the Milton Point Beach Club in Rye. Saturday night a dinner dance with about 225 members and their guests present was held and yes- terday afternoon a tea dance was on the program. Hawley, who attended, Miss Susan B. Waring and Mrs. William W. Scrugham. Of the 29 founders, those present, in addition to Mr. Hawley, were Miss Susie Leeds Heermance who has had a continuous membership for the en- tire 50 years, and Victor Elting of Chicago. Miss Heermance, with two other members of long standing, Miss Kate D. Atkins and Miss Eliza- beth Prescott Hale, served as hos- tess and cut the birthday cake, iced in white and blue, the club colors, and decorated with 51 candles, one "to grow on." Congratulatoty telegrams were re- ceived from charter members, Lan- dreth King of East Orange, N. J., second president; Mrs. Ella King Masters of New York City, first treasurer; David Millard Look of New York City, and Mrs. Georgia Law Penniman of Jefferson, N. A 50TH BIRTHDAY CAKE F OR THE AMACKASSIN CLUB

Miss Alice J. Buteux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Buteux of 17 Birch Road, became the bride of E. Reade Apgar, 60n of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Apgar of 2 Oakmont Avenue Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

The ceremony took place at*St. A n d r e w ' s Memorial Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. William Hicks, rector, officiating. Music was provided by Robert Huntington Terry, organist and choirmaster.

The bride wore a gown of Chan-tllly lace over white satin, made in redingote style and a fingertip length tulle veil. She carried white Japanese iris and sweet peas.

Her matron of honor, her sister, Mrs. Nicholas S. Lefor was in white starched lace, with a large white hat trimmed with violet velvet. She carried a nosegay of pink roses and carnations.

Miss Mary Keane of Yonkers and Mrs. Arthur Blanchard of New York, the other attendants, were in white also, wearing mousseline de sole frocks and large white hats with aqua velvet trimming. Their flowers were nosegays of pink roses and lavender sweet peas.

Irving T. Howorth of Albany was Mr. Apgar's best man and ushers were Wilson Crum, the bride's brother-in-law, Mr. Lefor, and Frederick Mortensen. Jr., all of Yonkers and Albert Sharp of Mount Vernon.

The bride's mother's gown was of moonlight gray crepe and her ac­cessories were fuchsia. Mrs. Apgar, mother of the bridegroom, was in Copenhagan blue lace with navy accessories and wore a corsage of pink sweet peas.

A reception for the immediate families was held at the Hotel Gramatan in Bronxville. After a motor trip the bride and bride­groom will live in Tarrytown. She was graduated from Yonkers High School and he attended Gorton High School.

The wedding took place In th« Crescent Place Reformed Church with the Rev. Bernard Montgomery officiating. A small reception fol­lowed at the Tice home.

The bride wore a rose traveling ensemble and a corsage of white roses and lllies-of-the-valley.

The Amackassin Club, one of the oldest tennis clubs in the country, yesterday celebrated its half cen­tury of existence with a 50th birth­day party, also the annual Found­ers' Day tea, '

Honorary membership was con­ferred on three of the founders, Samuel B. Hawley, who attended, Miss Susan B. Waring and Mrs. William W. Scrugham. Of the 29 founders, those present, in addition to Mr. Hawley, were Miss Susie Leeds Heermance who has had a continuous membership for the en­tire 50 years, and Victor Elting of Chicago. Miss Heermance, with two other members of long standing, Miss Kate D. Atkins and Miss Eliza­beth Prescott Hale, served as hos­tess and cut the birthday cake, iced in white and blue, the club colors, and decorated with 51 candles, one "to grow on."

Congratulatoty telegrams were re­ceived from charter members, Lan-dreth King of East Orange, N. J., second president; Mrs. Ella King Masters of New York City, first treasurer; David Millard Look of New York City, and Mrs. Georgia Law Penniman of Jefferson, N. H., member of the Palisade Avenue Tennis Ten, started in 1882 and forerunner of the Amackassin Club.

Photographs Shown A feature was an exhibit of photo­

graphs relating to the club's his­tory and to the history of tennis in Yonkers. The exhibit will be placed y>n permanent display at the clubhouse. Decorations, in charge of Mrs. J. Robert Marshall, were garden flowers.

Before the tea the Married Men's team, captained by O. Wilbur Doty, and the Single Men's team led by O. Walter Nelson, Jr., met for their annual baseball game, won by the married men by a score of 13 to 10.

The wedding of Miss Sophia Wil­kowska, daughter of Mrs. Pauline Wilkowska of 58 Caroline Avenue, to Rudolph Doxln, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dorin of 19 Lane Street, took place Sunday at St. Casimir's Church.

Monsignor Joseph C. Dworzak, pastor of the church, officiated and the bride's brother, Walter Wil-kowskl gave her In marriage. She wore a white satin gown made princess style with a short train and a fingertip length veil of tulle draped from a satin halo. She car­ried a shower bouquet of white roses and lilies-of-the valley.

Miss Helen Kopka, the maid of honor, was In applegreen tulle with a leghorn hat. Her other acces­sories were yellow and she carried yellow roses.

Mrs. Wilkowska's gown was of black lace,.worn with a black and white hat and a corsage of pink roses. The bridegroom's mother was in navy blue chiffon and her corsage was of pink roses also.

Michael Dorin, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man.

A reception at the home of the bride's mother followed the cere­mony. After a motor trip the bride and bridegroom will live at 19 Lane Street.

Dr. and Mrs. William Crocker of 45 Greystone- Park have returned from a visit to Bermuda. They went with a group of members of the National Council of State Gar­den Clubs who made a post-con­vention visit to this island. Mrs. Crocker is president of the New York State Federation of Garden Clubs whose members were con­vention hostesses this year as the gathering was held in New York City.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore her mother's wed­ding gown. She was graduated from Halsted School and Wells College, is a member of the Junior Guild of Yonkers and resided abroad for two years.
