In the month of October some employees from Tata Ins�tute visited the ,e-Learning school named “Crescent English Medium School”, Mankhurd to study and research about what is e-Learning, how teachers teach through e-Learning and what is the impact of e-Learning on students. A�er the 1st Semester in some centres, a week session was taken by the
e-Learning fellows. In e-class content, there is an op�on named 'Mind Map' through which fellows had done a revision with the students. The main aim in conduc�ng this session was to show how much interest developed in students and how much they have understood through digital content.
Computer Aided Learning and Digital Literacy as a Life Skill
'Team Leaders' Training Program
'Pratham InfoTech Founda�on' organized 4 days 'Team Leaders' Training Program in October 2016. The
program intended to make the Team Leaders more aware and empowered to mobilize and monitor
'Computer Aided Learning Program'. This Training Program was a�ended by 34 Team leaders and Program
Coordinators from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, U�ar Pradesh, and West
Bengal.st th st
First day of the Training Program started with the curriculum of 1 to 5 standards. Exercises for 1 std. are
based on Observa�on skills, Numbers, English alphabet, Iden�fica�on of words, Introduc�on of Paint nd rd
Applica�on etc. Module for 2 std. includes Vocabulary skills, Crea�ng S�cky Notes etc. Module for 3 std. th
talks about Introduc�on of Word applica�on, making gree�ng card and Slide Presenta�on Method. In 4 std. th
module, Orienta�on to Microso� LOGO and Programming was done while in 5 std. module, chapters on
academic capability, Voice Recording, Slide making were covered during the training program.th th rd On the Second day of the training, subjects of 6 and 8 standards were discussed. On the 3 day, Scratch
th Applica�on in 7 std. module was covered in which students were expected to prepare projects by using
Anima�on, Cartoon, Mathema�cal processes as well as use commands in Scratch Applica�on to demonstrate
their ideas.th On the Last day of the training, 9 std. module, including Power Point Presenta�on, its projects, Computer
th skills for preparing Resume, Admission Form was taken. It was followed by 10 std. module, explaining
concepts in Algebra and Geometry with the use of so�ware.
Team leaders were oriented with life skills demonstra�on along with computer literacy skills. All Team
Leaders par�cipated very ac�vely throughout the training program.

Computer Training for 26 teachers of 18 schools was organized in 'Hoshangabad' in two phases
between 20th to 22nd October and 24th to 26th October 2016. It intended to train them to teach
through computer so�ware and use computer as a medium of communica�on.
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on under its Sancharak Training Program organized a computer training program based on the 2nd Semester (Phase I) of Primary, Upper Primary and Secondary school curriculum in November 2016. It was a�ended by 586 Sancharaks from 7 states in India.

The a�endees were taught skills like preparing ques�onnaire in MS-Word, preparing �metable and mark sheet in MS Excel. This pla�orm for the par�cipa�ng teachers, to connect with the trainers, increased interest in the program. There are many posi�ve changes in schools now, as the trained teachers have been using skills and informa�on they obtained during the training.
The inten�on behind 'Young Instructor' ini�a�ve was to train bright students with computer skills first so that they would help
other students to learn it. Also, these 'Young Instructors' would be allowed to take their laptop home to make other children in
their community, computer literate.
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on, SAP India Pvt. Ltd. And Larson & Tubro Charitable Trust ini�ated 'Young Instructor' program in
Talasari with a vision to train capable students in computers and develop their Leadership skills. Currently, 13,278 students of 29
schools in Talasari are becoming Computer literate with the help of 537 'Young Instructors' through this ini�a�ve. 'Young
Instructor' takes the laptop to his/her house and introduces other children in his community to it. Children are taught different
games and art forms on the computer. Young Instructor maintains these records.
First Exposure to Computer for Hoshangabad Students
Computer training has started for the first �me in 18 Government schools
of Hoshangabad. Since January 2016, Nagar Parishad (Local Bodies) and
Grampanchayat Schools have started Computer Aided Learning Program.
Teachers have men�oned that, due to computer educa�on, student's
a�endance has increased upto 15% and dropout rate has reduced.
Students have not just become regular in school but their interest in
studies has also increased. Students belonging to scheduled castes,
backward class, and tribal communi�es are also ge�ng an opportunity to
learn computers, as men�oned by Principal of Gandhi Girl's Government
School, Shivapur.

Students become Computer Teachers in School
Every student has got different intellectual capability. Some students grasp fast, some take �me while some students find it difficult to understand things taught in school. Therefore it was proposed to categorise bright, average and weak students and provide computer educa�on and training separately to them. Bright students in the group took proac�ve steps to help other students with computer skills. It showed posi�ve results in their development. This shaped the Ini�a�ve 'Bal-Sancharak'. In Solapur, Bal-Sancharak is selected from 4th to 10th std. students, who can read, write and communicate fluently. Now, students in Solapur Corpora�on schools speak computer language. Parents who have never touched a computer in their life feel proud to see their children's knowledge in computers.
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on and WNS Cares Founda�on in alliance organized 'Speak Your Mind'- an essay
compe��on, with an intent to ins�gate student's thought processes and develop their wri�ng skills. School
children from India, South Africa, Poland, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Costa Rica par�cipated in this World Essay
compe��on. From India, 47,701 students of
143 schools in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune,
Nashik, and Gurgaon took part in the compe��on.
From them, 42 students in 34 schools were
selected for further rounds. Prize Distribu�on
Program of 'Speak Your Mind' was organized on
14th December 2016 on occasion of 'World
Impact Day'. In the Final round, Aditya Madane
(1st std) and Sanjana Raul (2nd std) from Mumbai
won the prize at the Mumbai level.

They are students of Marol Praga�k Vidyalay and Matoshree Vidyamandir respec�vely. At the global level,
Sanskar More (5th std) from Bal Vidyamandir school in Nashik and Pri� Shirse (9th std) from Nutan
Highschool, Pune were awarded with a prize. The program was a�ended by Mr. Keshav Murgesh, C.E.O.,
WNS Cares Founda�on, Mr. Prem Yadav, Director, Pratham InfoTech Founda�on, dignitaries, teachers and

Remedial Educa�on – Student Enrichment Program (SEP)
Fellows Training on Curriculum
'SEP' fellow (Teacher) Trainings were organized between 2nd to 12th November in Mumbai, Pune and Nashik. The training intended to understand new teaching techniques and school curriculum. These trainings were a�ended by 51 fellows from Mumbai, Pune and Nasik regions.The Training involved English, Mathema�cs and Science subjects. Industrial visit for 'Remedial Program' students
There are various career op�ons in the Industrial field available for students a�er 10th. To make students
aware about these different career op�ons and its significance in future, Industrial visits were organized for
10th std. students of Remedial Educa�on Program on 29th and 30th December, 2016. In Nashik, students
visited 'Bhavesh Precision Tool Company' on 29th December, 2016. While on 30th December, Science Park in
Pune was visited.
Students visited automobile, energy, Fun Science and 3D show in Science Park. In Fun Science sec�on, they
a�ended prac�cal demonstra�on of scien�fic techniques used by quacks to fool people. In the last session,
students were shown an informa�ve 3D film about our
galaxy. A total of 55 students were part of the Industrial Visit
to the Science Park in Pune. Nashik Remedial Students visited
Bhavesh Precision Tool Company in Nashik. Students
could observe and understand the prac�cal usage of
technical skills which are taught to them in voca�onal
courses. A total of 87 remedial students of 8 schools in
Nashik par�cipated in the industrial visit.

Tables on english grammar chapters were prepared for e.g. Change the Voice, Change Degree etc. To make the concepts clearer, par�cipatory methods were used during the training program.In the last session, fellows answered a ques�onnaire on the topics covered during the training psrogram. It helped to analyse the learning of fellows. On the last day of the training, educa�onal material created by fellows was presented in an exhibi�on.
Voca�onal Course Guidance Camp
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on organized a voca�onal Course
Guidance Camp for students of SEP in December,2016. Students
can start a small enterprise or own business a�er acquiring
needed voca�onal skills.
Informa�on regarding various business courses available
a�er comple�ng 10th/12th std. was imparted to students in this
camp.
The Voca�onal Course Guidance Camp was organized in 36
schools from Mumbai, Pune and Nashik region. Mumbai Camp
was visited by 486 students and 50 parents. In Pune, 95
students and 50 parents while 103 students and 80 parents
visited the camp in Nashik.
Shumayla Seher : Computer Instructor
I am Shumayla Seher! I am working as a computer instructor in Tak public school.
I have been working with PIF since the last two years. I like to work in PIF
because here we inspire children to learn and the learning level of primary
students is improving just by playing educa�onal games on the computer. We
teachers get a chance to enhance our teaching skills. PIF trained me very well.
I would like to con�nue working here.
I believe e- learning is a great initiative taken up by PIF. I too wish to open a computer ins�tute where
children can learn through new technologies. Before I wasn't confident but now I am very confident about
my teaching skills which have been developed a�er a�ending the training sessions in PIF.

India Digital Inclusion Program (IDI)
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on has launched 11 new centers in Thane District in
August 2016 in partnership with Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai. A center caters to
school children as well as youth from the nearby communi�es. The main objec�ve of
these centers are to provide digital literacy along with employment skills. PIF aims at
reaching more than 1,300 students from these centers in a year.
Digital Sakshar Crash courses benefited 92 candidates in the �me span of 2 days to 1
month. A total of 8 batches were organized in Vijaywada and Panvel, in which 78 girls and 14 boys
par�cipated. This crash course aimed at catering to the special need of the candidates who wanted to learn
something very specific like Word, Excel etc.
Voca�onal courses in Mahul
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on and BPCL have started two new voca�onal courses for women in July 2016. These courses were designed to make women in Mahul village self-sustainable. These courses are Tailoring and Beau�cian course.
Beau�cian course aimed to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship and train individuals to set up their own business. The course has covered almost twenty topics during the course period. Students are trained in all skills and services that are offered in a beauty parlor e.g. eyebrows/ threading, facial, manicure, pedicure, hair color, dye, hair cut mehendi, massage, hair spa etc.The tailoring course is also started to provide skill as well as support individuals in
se�ng up their own business. Constant guidance is provided and the ini�al capital support that is required is also made available.This course was conducted with the help of Anil Asrani Voca�onal Ins�tute which gives in depth training to women under both courses. There were 11 women who completed the tailoring course and 28 women who completed the beau�cian course. This course was completed in November 2016. A�er pursuing this course many of them have started their own business in the community.

Advance Level Courses
A�er successfully comple�ng the voca�onal course for tailoring and beau�cian in partnership with BPCL and Anil Asrani Voca�onal Ins�tute, a mass survey was conducted for advance level courses and many women who did our course have already showed interest in order to pursue the advance level if started by BPCL and Pratham InfoTech Founda�on.Currently, Pratham InfoTech Founda�on and BPCL are planning on star�ng this course as soon as it is possible for the benefit of women in the community.The advance level course for both tailoring and beau�cian will be for 6 months and it includes embroidery skills, selec�on of material and accessories, transferring the des ign, colour scheme, organiz ing showcase and visit in bou�que etc for the tailoring course. For the beau�cian course advance facial, full body waxing and bleach, body spa, special manicure and pedicure, hair colour and highlights, hair extension, hair style, nail art and bridal mehendi will be the subjects to be covered during the training period.
Training of Trainers
Six days 'Training of Trainers' for the Phase II of Digital Sakshar Program took place in December 2016, in which 50 fellows were given training to train 15,000 youth across Mumbai suburbs. A total of 50 centers (40 new and 10 old) will be opened to develop IT and So� Skills of the youth in respec�ve communi�es. Areas covered will be Western, Harbour and Central line upto Ambernath and Badlapur.

Ini�a�ng voca�onal course for Warli Art
During the month of October 2016 to December 2016,
Pratham InfoTech Founda�on in partnership with L&T InfoTech has
started planning for the next big venture to support Warli Art in Talasari
district of Maharashtra.
In the month of October and November the proposal for the project
was being worked on. Along with this establishment of HUB center,
hiring staff, development of content, youth mobiliza�on and finalizing
the deal to go ahead with this project was the focus.
In the month of November a batch of 30 youth with special interest in
warli art started. This was a 3 month voca�onal training course for youth aged 20 and above. The training
was provided by the best available resource from the art industry.
Warli Art is a very famous art form which belongs to the Warli tribe. Warli is found in Maharashtra and
Gujarat region of our country.
The objec�ve of the Crash Course is to provide IT Skills to those people who are willing to learn computers but due to lack of �me are not able to pursue it. We have designed this course aiming at working candidates, house wives, government workers like Anganwadi, Asha workers, workers of Zilla Panchayat etc.This crash course gives informa�on on the introduc�on to MS Office, Excel and Internet. During the period of October to December there were 24 crash courses started. The dura�on of these courses are of 2 days to 1 month. These courses were conducted in Vijaywada (8 Crash Course) and Panvel (12 Crash Course), Jaipur (2 Crash Course) and Nashik (2 Crash Course) in which a total of 118 candidates par�cipated. Out of these, 73 candidates were girls.
