energy efficient city lighting

execution by:

Berliner Energieagentur

starting point:

• 1/3 of street lighting older than 20 years

• 3-4 mrd. kWh/year electricity

• > 2 mio. t CO2

• modern technique to reduce CO2 and

• get better illumination

• municipalities have no finances

Light Pollution

2007: Dark Sky D: letter to ministry:

energy saving, but also reduction of light pollution:

reduce glare of modern lamps (MH, NAV, LED)

reduce scattering of horizontal light

-> full cut-off luminairies, class G6

like "bomb" in ministry!

jury with representatives of „relevant organisations“
