Grace and peace all y’all! Guess what? July 1st will begin my 8th pastoral appointment year at C.C.U.M.C.!!! I don’t know if you are excited about this, but I am – I’m pumped! (If you are not excited about this then you have my permission to lie to me about it.) By the grace of God, we have shared some amazing God-moments together, with more amazing God-moments on the horizon. I am reminded of the following words from Proverbs:

Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.” These words remind us that God is laying a path directly in front of us. Next on God’s agenda for C.C.U.M.C. is the completion of a revised architectural plan that balances faithful stewardship with the faith commitments of our Capital Campaign. Please know our Building Committee is hard at work put-ting this together. It is the hope of the Building Committee to join with the Capital Campaign team in sharing regular updates with the congregation beginning the first Sunday of August (and the first Sunday of every month thereafter). God is on the move. Don’t be distracted by anything else. Let’s accomplish this next faithful step as we look straight ahead to our next God-moment. In Jesus’ Name Pastor Randy

Youth Summer Mission Trip

It has been just a few days since we have come back from our mission trip. All I can say is Wow. Our team had quite a

week. We dealt with a bit of rain and for the first time ever we were quite chilly all week. While only 10 hours away life in

Frakes, Kentucky is very different. The average house hold income is $13,000 a year and most people are on some form of gov-

ernment assistance. Drug use seems to be escalading in the community and people are lacking in food security. One of the la-

dies we helped told us how people will break into her home to steal her food. The Henderson Settlement is striving to serve

these people, help make life better for them by helping them help themselves.

This year we were able to do work projects out in the community and we were able to get to know some families in the

area. Our youth tried to fix a sink but the damage was beyond what we were able to do and put traction stripes on a wheel chair

ramp on one home. We stained a front and back porch of a second home. We also painted a back porch and front porch, shut-

ters, and a wheel chair ramp of a third home. Our youth made real connections with the people they met and I know they were

all sad to leave them on the last day. You should all be very proud of how hard our youth worked.

THANK YOU to everyone who generously supported us on our trip. To everyone who generously donated, supported

our fundraisers or simply threw a penny in our kettle… Thank you! To everyone who prayed for us… Thank you! Know that

we are all extremely grateful. We would never have been able to go on this trip without YOU!!!!

In Him,

Christina McDermott

What’s New With Youth?

The summer is finally here and the youth are enjoying it! We ended our regular season of youth group with a

cookout on May 22nd. Everyone enjoyed the picnic pavilion and had hot dogs, mountain pies and s’mores around the

fire pit. The youth played some games, played on the swings, ran around a lot and just hung out. It was a great night.

We had three youth go to Annual Conference this year. Hannah Carter, Haley and Maddie Bennett got to experience a

bigger picture of the United Methodist Church and help the Young People’s Ministry Council. They helped with wor-

ship by serving communion and Maddie helped lead a prayer during one of the evening worship services. Maddie was

also elected to Jurisdiction Conference which will take place in July of 2020. Please keep her in prayer and she pre-

pares for this task. We should all be very proud of these young ladies! On June 2nd we recognized our graduates. Con-

gratulations to the class of 2019!

We are into our summer calendar of events. June 8-15th the youth mission team was in Kentucky at the Hen-

derson Settlement. It is hard to put into words what an amazing experience it was for our youth. We had a great week.

If you see the youth that were on the trip please ask them about it. June 19th the youth are swimming at Theresa Crim-

mel’s house from 6-8pm.

We have several fun activities planned for the rest of the summer. July 12th we will be going mini-golfing at

hoopla’s extreme. Several of the youth will be helping with VBS July 15th-19th. They are helping with crafts, snacks,

music, and being helpers in classrooms. If you haven’t signed up to help and you would like to be a youth helper please

let me know. On July 23rd we will be meeting at the mall to see the Lion King. Movie time will be provided when it

gets closer. August 3rd is our church’s annual COOL Picnic at East Snyder Park for anyone interested in helping out or

just coming down and enjoying the day. Set up is in the evening of Aug. 2nd in the afternoon or early evening. Aug. 7th

the youth will be heading to Knoebels in the evening. The 28th of August starts us off for the new year in youth with a

pool party.

There will also be some swimming dates at Theresa’s pool June 19th and July 31st from 6-8pm. I know her dog,

Riley has missed having us over. If you did not get a summer calendar and would like one there are extras in the youth

room on the shelf under the white calendar. Also look for reminder postcards in the mail.

Remember it is important to spend quiet time alone with God to develop a relationship with him. God desires a

personal relationship with each of us. God wants to give you wonderful things, you need only pray for them.

““Have faith in God," Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself

into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen; it will be done for him.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. ~ Mark

11:22-24

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!!!

In Him,

Christina
