Dear DTDCians, Before I really wish you a Merry Christmas and the New Year lets have look at the year that was full of events. Time flies, as we generally mention and if I have to describe this calendar year then I quote the old saying, “The time flies .” The year 2010 has witnessed many milestone achievements, both in domestic and international front, than any other year in the recent past. Let’s look at our overseas development. Dubai achieved growth in business, London proved stable, New York took a big leap in business growth, Joint venture with OneAsia, Increased imports, and new partnership in Dubai with Domestic franchisee going global and finally the franchisee office in Singapore. At domestic front, Hyderabad joined “Two Crores Club”, Pune the latest entrant in ‘Crorepati group’, vibration in Branding initiative throughout the nation, Emerging of brand DTDC, The new Channel approach, Revolutionary FAB approach, PEP revolution, New products with multiple option services for customers, DTDC’s foray to establish itself as the Premier Express company, Successful launching of the OBC project, The pre-launch of SCS division, The 5000 plus channel partners and !!!!!!!!!!!!! hold on !!!!!!!! we have something more to share. Now, look at the challenges that we have faced and likely to face: Frequent increase in Fuel cost, service failure due to CWG, festival rush and other calamities, growing establishment and infrastructure cost, dropping profits, unorganised competition and most importantly, changing demands of corporate world. “The new look DTDC”: Thankfully your DTDC is geared up to face any challenges in the industry. The board of DTDC and the senior management has been working relentlessly to overcome all challenges that come in way of our development. I must add here that, not all challenges are obstacles in the development. For DTDC, challenges are the cause of development and as I always say and many of you are the witness to that, with every challenge that is thrown at us both internally & externally, company has emerged stronger & better. The world is changing; the business is growing; Client base is increasing and so are the business volume and the number of transactions. Speed and accuracy is the buzz word of tomorrow. Fortunately, as always, the board of DTDC thought in advance and engaged Capgemini, one of the leading software giants of the world to design our “New Age Software" that will take company ahead of our competition. DTDC is now SAP & ERP based and heading for the “Zero Error “organisation. Our superb IT team and your Director, Abhishek has named it as “HELIOS “. I take this opportunity to express appreciation on behalf of all DTDCians to Satyajit & his IT team, Vishwanatham, Alva & Accounts team, PRG & his team for their contribution in successful implementation of SAP project in our company. With inclusion of Abhishek, the Board of DTDC is now more balanced and effective. Abhishek, in a very short span of time and with his serious approach has made his presence felt in the system. The Board has decided to make this segment of business more powerful and has decided to form a new division for PEP business from 16th Jan 11. This is another revolutionary step to strengthen the franchisees and to enhance the image of our company with quality services. The SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTION: Your company always plans for the future. Our internal research and the market study have proved that the future of Supply Chain Solution (SCS) business in the country is very bright and there is a huge demand for end-to-end solution. The rural economy will rise never before and that would create a huge demand for the logistics and the SCS. I place on record appreciation for Patil and his entire channel team from CO, Zones, Regions, Branches and FAB members for the commendable job executed by them in expending franchisee network and encouraging franchisees to opt Branding for increasing their business and implementing various new initiatives and competition schemes for channel growth. The FUTURE: There is an old saying, “Survival of the Fittest”. Your organisation is strong enough to face any challenge and thanks to my beloved channel partners and the dedicated staff who made it possible. But the future of the industry now depends upon the quality of service we provide. DTDC has earned everything, name; fame; respect; social and economic status, acknowledgment from the Government and non Government institutes, the individuals and the Corporate. But, one feather that is missing in the large “DTDC CAP” is that of an acknowledgment of recognition as the “Best Service providing company (BSPC)”. It’s like breaking every record again and again in the game, but failing to win the match. Most of the Indian origin courier companies are sold or acquired by the Multinational giant. Remaining few is struggling to survive. Thankfully, DTDC is not just surviving but growing by almost 24% (over the last year). Thanks to our franchisee-based business model which is now followed by the whole world. But as mentioned above, the FUTURE lies in the quality of the service we provide and hence, the DTDC board is happy to announce that with beginning of this new year, we will do everything possible to Earn the Status of “ Best Service Providing Company( BSPC) “ and earn the recognition as “the service-oriented organisation. Branding Alert Message by AGM-Channel Management

Dear Channel Partners, Greetings for Christmas & New Year Branding has now taken a New Dimension in the entire Country; no one could even think that a Channel Partner Office could be such transformed, we have seen Channel Partner Offices which have surpassed the highest of standards set by the management, it is because of a trust that “If my office is branded I will be able to generate confidence in my Walk In Customers to book more PEP Shipments” However we have still a long way to go as there are many channel partners who have yet to come out and get their offices branded, but we are sure that we will achieve 100% branding in North Zone by end of March 31st.2011 In the recently concluded fabulous North Channel Partner Meeting, CMD Sir has clearly given a Policy that

1. All Channel Partners need to give an undertaking before 31st

December towards getting their Offices branded by 31st March

2. Channel Partners who fail to give the undertaking, PEP Shippers will be stopped for them as on 1st January 2011

3. Channel Partners who even after giving the undertaking fail to get the Offices branded will be removed from the PEP Franchisee List on 31st

March 2011.

The Channel Team has already set the Standardization for Branding of Offices, you need to register at your reporting branch and rest will be taken care of by us. Be Sure to Be Branded Warm Regards Jatinder Sethi

Fuel Surcharge Message Dear Channel Partners, As you are all aware that there has been a recent hike in Petrol and

Diesel Prices , the impact is immediate and damaging to the cost of

operations. We are trying to cope up with the situation to the best of

our abilities and resources.

The Fuel Surcharge Pan India has been increased by 3% with

immediate effect; we have requested the management to hold onto the

price increase for North India till we are able to streamline our

Services as conveyed in the North India Channel Meet. However we

are withdrawing the minor Incentives/Discount given on Fuel

Surcharge in our communication dated August 30th , 2010 , w.e.f 16th

December 2010.

We sincerely hope that you will appreciate our efforts towards

creating a Win-Win Situation for all of us.

The Fuel Surcharge remains at 20% from 16th December 2010 onwards.

Meanwhile we request you to kindly start campaigning with your

clients for the FSC hike so that in case we are left with no option but

to increase the FSC in near future, you will be in a comfortable

position.

Enhanced Security Surcharge - effective December 12, 2010

Dear All, With Immediate Effect for all International shipments shipped through TNT network / DTDC Self Sector Zone Wise price the TS & LP rates stands increased by the below mentioned amount.

Rs.3.05 / kg applied to all international Express, Economy Express as well as Special service shipments

Minimum charge – Rs.30.55 per consignment Maximum charge – Rs.610 per consignment

Kindly update your pricing. Even for small minimum shipments Dox / Non Dox also the minimum additional rates would be applicable. The Fuel surcharge and Service tax would be calculated on the increased base amount. Inform all Fr’s that the billing would be effectively increased and the above variable would be added to the TS rates as applicable. Also to the DP customers. For walkin customers quote accordingly. Kindly make a circular for your regions and distribute to all Franchisees / Customers. Inform all concerns in your respective region. The same stands implemented with immediate effect. My New Year Resolution by Mr.D.S.Patil AVP-Channel Management

Dear Channel Team and Channel Partners, When we proudly announce in any meeting that, DTDC has been awarded “The Best Franchisor “5th time in ROW, next moment you will hear only claps. The audience feel proud to be associated with our company. It helps you appoint new franchisee and new franchisee also takes pride in joining our company. They also feel secured. I am sure while reading this message you must be feeling proud as well. Now, take a situation, in which management say, this time we could not participated in the Annual Franchisee Award Ceremony organised by Franchisee Holding Corporation Of India and as a result, we lost an opportunity to be the “ Best Franchisor “ SIXTH time in ROW. I am sure you will not only disappoint but must be annoyed with the person responsible for these serious lapses which cost us all important award. And you will be more shocked to know that the person responsible for such a serious lapses is D.S.Patil. Its fact, we could not participate in the annual show and hence lost Golden Opportunity to be the best franchisor sixth time as we are the best in this category. Now, you wish to know, how such a blunder happened. That too after couple of reminders from the agency and the CMD himself. And you can also imagine the reaction from the Board and CMD. On that day, I somehow gathered my courage and on my own wrote a two line mail to CMD Sir, tendering my apology for this absolute and unpardonable blunder. To that, and quite unexpected for me as well, CMD sir, holding disappointed and possibly digesting the mistake I did, he wrote, “ I accept you apology ” and just added it’s a result of “PROCRASTINATION”. This incidence will haunt me through out my life. The dictionary meaning of procrastination is, “Delay or postpone doing what one should be doing " or “ The act of postponing, delaying or putting off.” The reason we lost Best Franchisor Award sixth time in a row was Procrastinations and procrastination and nothing else. Had I acted on time, this blunder could have been avoided but I postponed it and for that company and franchisee community paid a heavy price. The reason why I share this real experience with you is, that we all, knowingly and unknowingly and some time out of habitual carelessness, keep our work postponing. This is just a one example and we don’t know how many things we all keep postponing for tomorrow or for some one else to do. In our own department in spite of reminder we still,

Delay in appointment of franchisee or delay in processing their applications. Delay in response. Delay in settlement. Delay in certain actions that need to be completed on priority. And many more to be added.

Or any other delay, in personal or professional life, cost us very heavily. This may the case with other departments and individuals also. At least I personally incur heavy losses, monetarily and otherwise also because of delay in action. Hence, for the 2011, my only RESOLUTION will be “AVOID PROCRASTINATIONS” and request my entire team as well to avoid procrastination. I wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous new year.
