NEWS BITS
Last month, the Music Feeds Us Quartet put on a benefit for
the Foodbank of Southeastern Vir-ginia and the Eastern Shore, and the response was overwhelming: Monetary Funds Raised: $2,621 (7,489 meals) Food Donated: 150 lbs. (125 meals) Total Meals: 7,614
The Food Pantry at East-ern Shore Chapel is a large
outreach operation that serves the community. It is staffed primarily by volunteers. Since Galilee does not have room to expand its pantry, partnering with Eastern Shore in this effort will give Galilee members another opportunity to serve and at the same time will enable Eastern Shore to increase its ministry to feed the hungry.
The Pantry is open to those in need: Mon-Thurs from 2-4, & Wed from 5:30-7
The shifts in need of volunteers are: • Wed. 5:30-7 p.m.• 2nd and 4th Wednesdays 2-4 p.m.• 1st Thurs 2-4 p.m.
In addition to helping distribute food, volunteers can help unload trucks during the following hours:
Craddock, so please contact her at [email protected] or 804-304-4087, if you feel led to support this outreach in any way. She can answer questions and see that you are con-nected to this ministry for one par-ticular job or as a regular volunteer.
Online Giving Just Got Eas-ier -- introducing Easy Tithe,
our new secure online giving portal that is both intuitive and convenient, either for single donations or recur-ring payments. Check out the new Galilee give page at galileechurch.net/give.
Also, grab the Easy Tithe app for your Apple or Android device.
• Mon. 11 a.m.• Tues 9-11 a.m.• Wed. 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.• Thurs 9-11 a.m.• Sat 9- 11a.m.
The Eastern Shore van makes a run to the Food Bank in Norfolk every Wednesday morning. They could use an additional run on Fridays - at least a couple of times a month. They would love to have someone with a van or large SUV to go and pick up food in Norfolk and drop it at the pantry on Fridays. They are also looking for a golf cart driver on Wednesdays from 1:45 - 4 p.m. They can use egg cartons and paper bags (preferred) or plastic bags! We will put a collection bin in the lobby of Galilee a couple of times during the year, but if you can't store them till then, you may drop them at Eastern Shore during their hours of opera-tion.
They are always collecting food do-nations, however, a more efficient way to help is to simply make a cash donation. They can purchase food from the Food Bank to stock their shelves for about half the price we pay at the grocery store.
Galilee's participation in this min-istry will be coordinated by Monica

HEALING PRAYER AT GALILEE
The Case for Faith By Rev. Nigel Mumford
Some people struggle with the issue of faith. We hope in faith
in unseen witness. Is it “faith healing” or is our faith in God to heal? Hopefully, the latter.
Is the onus (responsibility) for faith in God’s healing on the supplicant (the sick person) or on the prayer team? The supplicant may have per-fect faith or no faith at all. Supplicants may not be able to pray because:
1) they don’t know how;
2) they are too sick or in a coma!
3) They are not “there” in their own faith walk.
Then the prayer team needs to “take on” the faith for the supplicant. We never say to a sick person, “if you had enough faith get up and walk.” That is religious abuse! Sadly, I have met supplicants who have been on the re-ceiving end of such abusive theology.
Three examples of the faith of individuals leap from the pages of the Bible for me:
First…is the faith of the four friends of the paralytic, who had so much faith, they ripped open a roof to get him to Jesus. Jesus then looked at the lads who did this saying, “By your faith your friend is healed.” Their paralyzed friend got up in full view of everyone and walked – cured!
Second…is the faith of the wom-an who had been bleeding for twelve years. She personally had so much faith, she pushed through the crowd to touch Jesus’ robe. She was cured!
Third… is the faith of the centu-rion, a Roman soldier in charge of a hundred men. His servant was sick. He asked Jesus to heal him right there and then. He had the faith to believe that Jesus didn’t have to go see the servant. He just be-lieved. We know the outcome. His servant was healed that very hour!
Being a former “half-centurion” myself, in charge of fifty Royal Ma-rine recruits as a drill instructor, I can really relate to his testimony.
May I underline that even if the supplicant has no faith, God can do whatever He likes, especially through the faith of the prayer team!
Is the onus for faith in God’s
healing on the supplicant or on the
prayer team?

What Happened here in May?
We graduated an incredible confirmation group May 1st. We received so many compli-ments on what a great group it was from the Bishop. Thanks to the Roxanne Jordan circle we had a great brunch with delicious food. We also had a middle school girls sleepover that included sparkling cider, baking cup cakes, and a lot of fun. My wife Per-ry and Jaime did an awesome job with having a girls night. High School had a com-bined small group at Cici’s pizza. It was a time of eating, yelling Cici’s and talking about being intentional about ministry where God has put you now. Finally, I got to go do a scouting trip for our summer outreach sports camp to The Boys Home and am even more excited now. They have great facilities and we are only limited by our creativity on what we can do. I spent some time praying and felt Gods special blessing upon that place as God loves his children there. We would love for YOU to be involved!
