When is the last time you looked at your organization’s core values? Values are important to a business because they are at the heart of a company’s culture. They communicate what’s important and provide a foundation for decision- making, successful hiring, and inspiring action. But, they are worth little more than the paper they are written on if they are not brought to life through the behaviors and deeds of every employee – starting with the “tone” at the top of the organization. Recently the senior management team at River City Bank took a hard look at our corporate value statements and then gave them a fresh new look. While the spirit has not changed, they have been re-written to resonate with a broader audience, both internally and externally. We’ve incorporated characteristic behaviors to paint a picture of our values in action. To make sure we got it right, we asked a representative cross section of our high-performing employees to participate in this exercise and I am proud of what they delivered. We recognize that you have a multitude of choices for the right banking business partner. Like any relationship, when values are closely aligned, the partnership will be strong and sustainable. The following values demonstrate what’s important to us at River City Bank, we hope you agree: Deliver Exceptional Service. Demonstrate Integrity. Be Active in Our Communities. Think Long-Term. Embrace and Create Change. Employ the Very Best. Promote Teamwork. Display Uncompromising Professionalism. Do More with Less. Expect Excellence. Be Accountable. When is the last time you looked at your organization’s core values? Values are important to a business because they are at the heart of a company’s culture. They communicate what’s important and provide a foundation for decision-making, successful hiring, and inspiring action.

The following values demonstrate what’s important to us at River City Bank, we hope you agree:

• Deliver Exceptional Service.• Demonstrate Integrity.• Be Active in Our Communities.• Think Long-Term.• Embrace and Create Change.• Employ the Very Best.• Promote Teamwork.• Display Uncompromising Professionalism.• Do More with Less.• Expect Excellence.• Be Accountable.

CLIENT PROFILE

Belami, Inc.

Belami, Inc. is not the average local business success story, nor does the company utilize a standard business model. One of the three current owners, Mihran Berejikian, who heads up the marketing, sales, and business development, best described the company when he said, “We are not a lighting company on the internet…we are a technology-based ecommerce company who happens to sell lighting.”

The inspiration for the company came from Mihran’s father, who had a lighting store in Santa Barbara in the late 1990’s but was convinced that no one would ever “purchase a chandelier over the internet,” and was reluctant to create a website. Mihran knew the internet was the future of retail and eventually convinced his father to start the website, 1StopLighting.com. In 2003, Mihran, his wife Nancy, Mike Lack, Mike Mikikian, and Mihran’s parents founded Belami, Inc. as the parent company for their ecommerce ventures.

After just one month, Belami, Inc. went from operating out of Mike’s living room to an office in Midtown, Sacramento. Mihran contributes much of their early success to “pay per click” marketing, which he says was “groundbreaking” at that time, because “it could track everything.”

Paid marketing helped, but there were other company cultural values which advanced Belami, Inc. Along with performance plans, development plans, and formal reviews for every employee, Mike, Nancy, and Mihran created an environment where “each team member [was] able to behave and feel like an entrepreneur and be rewarded like an entrepreneur.” Belami, Inc. grooms their staff from entry level positions to work towards becoming future leaders of the company. In fact, the three current senior managers started working for Belami, Inc. at entry level positions, and “were all on the phones at one point,” Mihran proudly notes.

Castilian Hall

Cydney Bender-Reents was recently named the 2014 Woman of Impact by the Sacramento Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women organization (CREW Sacramento). Cydney was awarded this honor for her profound impact on the local real estate industry while breaking barriers, defying the glass ceiling, and mentoring other women to success. Cydney serves as President and Principal in Charge at Bender Rosenthal, Inc., with over 25 years of experience in real estate appraisal and consulting. Bender Rosenthal provides real estate appraisals and right of way services throughout California. Congratulations to Cydney for the well-deserved commendation for her dedication and service to local women commercial real estate professionals. The newly constructed Castilian Hall recently achieved a Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification from the Green Building Certification Institute for their green building design and implementation. The original Castilian Hall was built in the late 1960’s to offer undergraduates from UC Davis housing near campus. UC Davis demolished the original structure after its official close in June 2011 and entered into a ground lease with Castilian Partners,

LLC - comprised of local real estate developers and investors Randy Yackzan, Martin Sublett, and Gregg Herrington – to construct a new apartment complex targeted at graduate students. Castilian Partners now own and manage the new building. The property is the first graduate-only housing available to UC Davis graduate students and consists of two, four-story apartment buildings with 60 units and 238 beds available for lease on a per bed basis. Since opening in September 2014, Castilian Hall is fully occupied.

Summit Funding

Summit Funding recently achieved a significant milestone by surpassing $2 billion in funded mortgage loans during 2014. Drawing on his expertise in the mortgage industry, Todd Scrima, founded Summit Funding in 1995 in Sacramento – where the company continues to be headquartered today. Over the past 20-years, Summit Funding has grown to be a Top 30 National Private Mortgage Company with a presence extending to 80 licensed offices in 38 states. Summit Funding largely attributes its success to execution of its main purpose, to “Change People’s Lives.” Congratulations to Todd Scrima and the entire Summit Funding team on their continued success and growth! CLIENT PROFILE CONTINUED

Belami, Inc.’s loyal family environment limits the bureaucracy, which ultimately allows the entire staff to focus on value, products, and services. It’s these services which have distinguished the company from its competitors and propelled them ahead in the ecommerce market. Mihran believes “the future is about collaboration…the old lines between manufacturer, importer, wholesaler, retailer, and customer will be blurred and potentially wiped away by technology.”

As a result, Belami, Inc. has positioned itself strategically as an added value partner to its vendors and larger business communities by offering unique services to solve various business problems which it solved for itself and now sells to other companies.

Such services include an improved method of shipping goods to Canada, which expedites orders at a significantly reduced cost, as well as developing a residential shipping solution for domestic customers. Through years of growing their volumes, developing the processes, nurturing the relationships, and minimizing the rates, Belami, Inc. optimized their cost structure and now acts as a consultant to seven other ecommerce companies, including some competitors.

Belami, Inc. continues to expand its scope of activities and services, currently providing ecommerce services to brick and mortar showrooms and selling patio and irrigation products in addition to lighting. Physically expanding twice, making three acquisitions, and growing from 4 employees to over 50, Belami, Inc. certainly has earned its rightful place in the ecommerce market, as well as the Sacramento Business region.

Financial CurrentsEMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHTS

Matthew Huber Vice President, Client Services Manager

Matthew Huber began his banking career over 12 years ago as a branch Teller. While utilizing his innate leadership and problem solving skills, Matthew excelled in every role he’s occupied since then and has held titles as Lead Teller, Service Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, and Operations Support Services Manager.

Matt’s extensive experience in several departments within River City Bank has given him a breadth of knowledge of River City Bank’s products, practices, and policies. His experience allows him to make difficult decisions under pressure and in a timely manner. His diligence, attention to detail, and even temperament enable him to keep customer satisfaction high, while simultaneously helping ensure the clients’ data and finances stay secure.

In his current role as Vice President, Client Services Manager, Matt manages the retail and commercial call centers. These departments oversee retail online banking and bill pay, debit card support, commercial online banking and bill pay, online wires, Automated Clearing House (ACH) origination, remote deposit, and positive pay.

When asked what he likes best about working at River City Bank, Matt said, “The opportunity to work with and learn from a very talented team…I enjoy providing the best service possible to our clients and building a working relationship with them… I also enjoy being exposed to various situations that arise as it helps build my knowledge.”

Matt earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento with an emphasis in General Management. In his spare time, he enjoys staying active with mountain biking, fishing, snowboarding, and scuba diving. Matt and his wife welcomed their first child, a baby boy in mid-March.

Ken ImwinkelriedVice President, Credit Analyst Manager

Living his life by Epictetus’ philosophy to “First decide what you would be, and then do what you have to do,” Ken Imwinkelried is determined to excel in all that he puts his mind to – not excluding his highly successful career.

In his current role as Credit Analyst Manager at River City Bank, Ken manages the commercial credit

analysis team. The team structures, monitors, and evaluates proposed and existing commercial loans, including: Commercial & Industrial; Commercial Real Estate; and Syndicated Credits. The team is responsible for directly managing a portfolio of approximately $325 million, and providing credit support to the remainder of the commercial portfolio.

When asked about his favorite part of working for River City Bank, Ken states that – in addition to working with great people – he most enjoys the situations that pair analytical skills with problem solving in the decision-making process. This enables him to create optimal benefits for both the client and the bank. Since starting with River City Bank in 2010, Ken has held titles as Commercial Banking Associate, Credit Analyst, and Senior Credit Analyst. He was promoted to his present role in early 2014.

Ken graduated Cum Laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. Though attending college in the Midwest (with short stints living in Dublin, Ireland as well as Washington, D.C.), he was raised in Davis. Family is very important to Ken and is a large part of his motivation to migrate back to Sacramento. He now enjoys the opportunity it provides to spend quality time with his niece and goddaughter.

In his spare time, Ken enjoys investing, staying active with hiking and fishing, and engrossing himself in classic stoic philosophy. One of these days, he may even venture back out on the rugby pitch. Ken says he is inspired and motivated by “dedication and perseverance: the ability of a person through will and discipline to excel beyond perceived limitations and achieve something greater than self.”
