Shoe Box Setup
Cut out the fronts from several different
cereal boxes. Copy the alphabet
boards. Make letter tiles by cutting apart
the letters on each board. Place each set
of letter tiles in a resealable bag. Place the
cereal box fronts and letter tiles in the
shoe box. Glue the label to one end of
the box and the student directions to the
inside of the lid.
Have children say the name
of the cereal. Encourage
them to think of other words
that start with the same sound. For
variations on this activity, substitute other
food boxes such as those for noodles,
crackers, and cookies. For an extra
challenge, children can sort the packages
into ABC order by initial letter.
