A GREATER CALLING!

Isaiah 6:1-8 (Isaiah’s Commission)

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw

the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a

throne; and the train of his robe filled

the temple. 2

Above him were seraphim,

each with six wings: With two wings they

covered their faces, with two they

covered their feet, and with two they

were flying. 3

And they were calling to

one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;

the whole earth is full of his glory.”

4At the sound of their voices the

doorposts and thresholds shook and the

temple was filled with smoke.

5“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined!

For I am a man of unclean lips, and I

live among a people of unclean lips, and

my eyes have seen the King, the LORD

Almighty.”

6Then one of the seraphim flew to me

with a live coal in his hand, which he

had taken with tongs from the altar. 7

With it he touched my mouth and said,

“See, this has touched your lips; your

guilt is taken away and your sin atoned

for.”

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord

saying, “Whom shall I send? And who

will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Have you ever noticed that the

experience of Isaiah parallels our own

process of responding to a divine

calling?

Isaiah gets a vision of God (6:1-4), a

vision of himself (6:5-7) and a vision

of ministry (6:8). At least five stages

in this process apply to us:

Stage One: The Revelation of God

(vv1,2)

Isaiah saw the Lord in a face-to-face

encounter that changed him forever.

Stage Two: The Realisation of

God’s Holiness (vv3,4)

Isaiah experiences God as Holy.

Through this encounter, the Lord

becomes more than an abstract idea.

Isaiah learns of God’s awesome

personality.

Stage Three: The Recognition of

His Own Sinfulness (v5)

Isaiah sees the vast distance between

God and himself. He sees the infinite

contrast and is broken of self.

Stage Four: The Renewal of His

Perspective (vv6,7)

An angel touches the prophet,

cleansing him and giving him a new

outlook. He is ready to serve.

Stage Five: The Response of His

Lifestyle (v8)

When God calls, Isaiah eagerly steps

forward. A call is marked by a fruitful

life.

As we journey together in ministry,

may you know each day God’s love

and blessings abundant.

LT. JOE CLARK RETIRES

On Wednesday 9 July 2014

Lieutenant Joe Clark, Property

Officer of the Dooralong

Transformation Centre, received his

Certificate of Retirement from

Commissioner James Condon,

Territorial Commander of Australia

Eastern Territory.

The presentation was part of the

regular Wednesday night Chapel

Service at Dooralong. Lt. Joe and

Commissioner James presented

several of the program participants

with certificates of achievement in

recognition of either their progress in

the program or their contributions to

the DTC community.

Commissioner Condon then began to

speak of the great example of Godly

ministry that Joe has exhibited during

his time as a soldier, an envoy and

later an officer of The Salvation

Army. James reflected on his

encounters with Joe & Bev as their

Divisional Commander in both this

division and later in the South

Queensland Division, as well as their

utter surprise when he commissioned

them as officers at a Christmas Carols

service at Moonyah.

Joe spoke a few words on his

appreciation of being able to share

this special moment with the

Transformation Centre Community as

Joe truly saw them as ‘his people’ like

any great shepherd would.

Centre manager, Envoy Craig

Stephens and Assistant Manager,

Lyndel Taylor presented Lt. Joe with

a retirement gift; a beach fishing rod,

which Joe will make plenty of use of

during his retirement.

The Transformation Centre band,

made up of participants past and

present and under the guidance of Lt.

Katie Ryan played Glen Campbell’s

“Try A Little Kindness”, a favourite

song of both Joe and the wider DTC

community.

Commissioner Condon also bought

the message for the evening,

encouraging everyone to come to

know the truth in Jesus Christ, so that

we can experience the fullness of

freedom that the Son has available for

each and every one of us.
