Central Park
Central park is the biggest park in New York, and one of the most beautiful in the World.Its situated between New York and Manhattan.
History
Frederic Low Olmestd was a writer and a British architect, Calvert Vaux. Sculpture wasedited by Jacob Wrey Mould and Andrew Haswell Green.

New York State is situated in the North-East of USA.
New-York City is on the East of New York State.
New York State borders Lake Champlain, Ontario, Erie.
The city is composed of five parts, one island:
On the North border is West Herter, the Bronx.
In the East bordering Nassau is the Queens.
On the south borders is New Jersey and Staten Island.
In the West of the Queens is Manhattan.
New York State has 19 millions inhabitants and New York City represents 8 millionsinhabitants.

LOCATION
New York City is located in north east of USA, and in south east of New Yorkstate.
Between New York and France, there are 6 hours time differences, because thiscity is located in the eastern zone of USA.
POPULATION
There are nearly 8 214 426, inhabitants they live together in 5 boroughs:-Manhattan-Brooklyn-Queens
-The Bronx
-Staten Island
New York State unites ethnies and cultures: in this city, many origins aregrouped in living quarters, like Little Italy, Chinatown or El barrio

NICKNAMES
The name of this city was attributed because of the duke of York, in the 1660's.
Several nicknames can be attributed to New York City, like the city that neversleeps
or the empire state ( because of its wealth and resources ), but the mostfamous nickname of New York City is the big apple , because many Jazz
musicians became famous here. One said: there are many apples on the tree,but only the big apple .

The New York flag has a shield centered on a dark blue field
THE SHIELD: There is a blue sky with a large sun, behind the 3 highlands of theHudson River, because of commerce.
UNDER THE SHIELD, there is the state motto: excelsior .
ABOVE THE SHIELD, there is an eagle on a globe. That eagle faces right, there is agood omen.
ON THE RIGHT, the godless justice , whose is carrying the scale of justice andis blindfolded
ON THE LEFT, the godless liberty , she wears the Phrygian cap, and there is acrown on her foot.
TOURISM AND ACTIVITIES
The Empire State Building
New York is also famous for its iron staircases, its ads on the roofs and its yellowtaxis, but also by its buildings, including the Empire State Building (488 metreshigh) and its monuments like the World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty andTwin Towers, the privileged destination for tourists before September 11, 2001.
This city is very visited by many possibilities (subways, ferry, helicopters ). Astreet can be 10kms long!!!
Thats at New York there is the most sports teams of USA, such as baseball,football, hockey, Is also where is the US open tournament.

The Statue of Liberty:
The Statue of Liberty is a big monument, on Liberty Island.
It is made of iron and steel. It is holding a book, a crown and a torch.
On the book is written the Declaration of independence of America whichhappened on July, 4th 1776.
The torch and 500 candles are made of copper.
On the crown there are seven rays, the seven rays represent the seven seasand continents of the world.
The admission for people is 12$ for adults, 10$ for senior and 5$ for children.
The Statue of Liberty was built from 1885 to 1886.

The Chrysler Building:
Chrysler was a car manufacturer.
The Chrysler Building is 282meter high without spires.
William Van Alen is the architect who designed Chrysler Building and its spires.
With its spires the Chrysler Building was the highest building of the world(319meters)

The history of New York
Before this consolidation, the city which knows numerous crises, is the theater ofdiverse conflicts, but manages to win gradually, in importance, in the point to
establish biggest city of the United States and is one of the most dynamic city of
the world today, demographic but also as a leading decision-making center and as the
world capital of the finance and the stock exchange.
Then the piece of New Amsterdam was renamed New York in honor of Jacques
II of England Duke of York who had acquired the place of his brother. Colonel
Richard Nicollls so became the first British governor of the city of New York.
In 1664, New York was an English colony. Before English arrived, Indians lived.inNew York
After the upper Manhattan Battle of fort Washington in 1776 the city became
the British military and political base of operation in North America and a place for
Loyalist refuges, until military occupation ended in 1783.
The city of New York had its independence in 1904.
This city was the capital of United States from 1776-1783. And its first
president was Georges Washington.
Henry Hudson was sent to 1609 by oriental company of India so that he discovers
a new seaway towards India.
He arrives to Manhattan on September 11th. He crosses by New
York bay and goes back up the river which carries its name to
Albany today, before reach India by this road.

Another character mattering in the history of New York it is
Verrazano. He was the first European who investigated New York.
But what to mark New York were the attacks of September11th, 2001. The destruction of twin towers of the World
Trade Center, as well as the numerous surrounding buildings
remains a traumatizing episode for the inhabitants of the city.
These attacks made 2,976 victims.
