Jack Capuano was named the interim head coach of the New York Islanders on November 15, 2010. The Islanders removed the “interim” labelfrom Capuano’s title on April 12, 2011. Capuano first joined the Islanders in 2005-06 as an assistant coach. The native of Cranston, RI, was named head coach of the BridgeportSound Tigers on April 30, 2007, where he went 133-100-8-14 in four seasons. From 1997-2005, he served as the General Manager of the PeeDee Pride of the ECHL. Capuano also served as the head coach of the 2005 U.S. Under-18 Select Team at the Five Nations Cup in Slovakia. Capuano began his coaching career in 1995 as an assistant with the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks of the ECHL, after ending a playing career thatincluded stints with Boston, Vancouver and Toronto of the NHL and Springfield and Maine of the AHL. The former First Team All-Americancaptained the U. of Maine to a Hockey East Championship and NCAA Frozen Four appearance in 1988.
