Talk of the Town– What’s being said about and by the NY Giants “We expected to come in and play well. We were in the lead of the division, we had a lot at stake. We didn’t play well so we need to go back to work.” - Coach Tom Coughlin, on regrouping. “They made plays to win the game, and we didn’t. They’re a good NFL team and made the key plays – especially on third down. They did everything to win the game. It’s not a panic mode. It’s a tough loss, but we move on.” - Will Demps, on the Giants’ defensive performance. “A heck of a ballgame. I think two real good football teams going after each other. The former Jaguars coach against the cur-rent Jaguars coach, there have only been two of us and obviously I’ve talked all week about the respect I have for Tom (Coughlin) and the job that he did when he was in Jacksonville … When you talk about a night like tonight with Tom coming back and the success that this franchise has had, in large part to Tom, but here we’re trying to continue that. This franchise has been very successful. ” - Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio, on facing his predecessor. “We have to come together and find a way to get back to playing good football. We’ve been able to throw the football decently throughout the season, but we’re not doing it right now. There’s a combination of reasons like not being on the same page or passes getting knocked down. We just have to find a way to get going.” - Eli Manning, on regaining momentum. “This one feels pretty good, Monday night against the New York Giants, a team that I grew up loving as child all the way to college and to play against my old head coach (Tom Coughlin), the one who drafted me. A lot of things went into tonight and I really do feel good about my performance and definitely the performance of this team.” - Jacksonville quarterback David Garrard, on the significance of the game for him.

Last Week’s Game Nov. 20, 2006 Alltel Stadium Jaguars 26, Giants 10 JACKSONVILLE – The Giants find themselves in a dead heat atop the NFC East after sputtering on offense for most of the night and falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 26-10, in Alltel Stadium.

The defeat spoiled the homecoming of Giants coach Tom Coughlin, who coached the Jaguars from 1995-2002.

More importantly, it was the Giants’ second loss in a row after five consecutive victories and dropped their record to 6-4. Their two-game division lead has evaporated and they are tied with Dallas for first place in the division.

Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew each rushed for a touchdown and Josh Scobee kicked four field goals for the Jaguars, also 6-4.

Plaxico Burress scored on a 25-yard reception and Jay Feely kicked a field goal for the Giants.

But the Giants never really had a chance to win because of their inability to generate any offense. Their 247 total yards were a season low. So were their 13 first downs. The Giants rushed for only 25 yards, their lowest total since they ran for 24 yards on Nov. 30, 2003 against Buffalo. The 25 rushing yards were the lowest-ever for a Coughlin-coached team.

The Giants owned the ball for only 19:41, their low-est time of possession in a regular season game since Dec. 5, 2004, when it was 19:31 in a loss at Washington.

Eli Manning completed only 19 of 41 passes for 230 yards. He threw the touchdown pass to Burress, but he also tossed two interceptions. The Giants lost a fumble to give them three turnovers.

The Giants were particularly ineffective in the first half, when they gained 73 yards, had three first downs and did not complete a pass to a wide receiver (Burress was the first wide receiver to catch a pass, with 8½ minutes remaining in the third quarter.)

Scobee’s fourth field goal, a 48-yarder with 5:39 remaining in the game, extended Jacksonville’s advantage to 26-10. The Giants still had a faint hope of tying the game when they moved from their own 40 to the Jaguars’ 26 in three plays. Manning then threw for 18 yards to Tim Carter, who was sepa-rated from the ball, which was recovered by Gerald Sensa-baugh. The Giants had one more possession, but it stalled at the 18-yard line.

Jones-Drew ran three yards up the middle untouched

to increase Jacksonville’s lead to 23-10 with 12:56 remaining in the game. The touchdown was set up by a 49-yard catch-and-run by wide receiver Matt Jones, who caught a David Garrard pass at the Giants’ 37, sidestepped safety James Butler and didn’t stop running until he was pushed out of bounds at the three. Jones-Drew, the rookie from UCLA, scored on the next play.

The Giants’ next series ended when Manning’s pass for Burress was intercepted by linebacker Clint Ingram with 9:29 left in the game.

Scobee’s third field goal of the game, a 23-yarder with 53 seconds remaining in the third quarter boosted Jack-sonville’s lead to 16-10.

For the second time in the quarter, the Jaguars had a first-and-goal on the Giants’ nine-yard line and failed to get into the end zone. The 11-play, 59-yard drive featured one of the Giants’ most frustrating moments of the evening. On third-and-five from the Giants’ 38, Reggie Torbor hit David Garrard hard for what should have been a sack. But the mobile quarter-back spun away from the tackle and ran for a 17-yard gain to the 21 to help set up the field goal.

The Giants pulled to within 13-10 on a terrific indi-vidual effort on a touchdown reception by Burress with 6:32 remaining in the third quarter. The Jaguars blitzed Manning on second-and-10 from the Jacksonville 25-yard line. Manning negated the rush by firing a quick strike to the left side for Burress. The lanky wide receiver’s terrific left-right fake put cornerback Brian Williams to the ground at the 25. Another move enabled him to slip past Sensabaugh at the 10.

The drive covered 70 yards and 11 plays and was kept alive on a Jacksonville penalty that wiped out a Jaguars touchdown.

The Jaguars appeared to add to their lead when Paul Spicer recovered a Manning fumble and returned it 18 yards for an apparent touchdown. But cornerback Rashean Mathis was penalized for illegal use of hands, nullifying the score and enabling the Giants to keep the ball at their own 39. The Giants then marched down the field for their touchdown.

Scobee’s 24-yard field goal with 9:43 left in the third quarter increased Jacksonville’s lead to 13-3. Prior to the field goal, the Jaguars drove 41 yards in seven plays, including a 15-yard Garrard pass to pass to George Wrighster on third-and-four that gave Jacksonville a first down on the Giants’ nine-yard line. Two Fred Taylor runs netted three yards and on third down, Garrard overthrew Ernest Wilford in the end zone.

Taylor’s 10-yard touchdown run with 10:15 remain-ing in the second quarter gave the Jaguars a 10-3 lead that held up until halftime. On second down, Taylor took a handoff,

ran straight up the middle and stepped through Will Demps’ attempted tackle on his way to the end zone. The score capped an eight-play, 57-yard drive following a Giants punt.

The Giants were fortunate to trail by only seven points at the half. In the first two quarters, they were out-gained, 215-73 (including 96-14 in rushing yardage), had nine fewer first downs (12-3), and converted only one of six third-down opportunities (the Jaguars succeeded on five of nine). Jacksonville’s time of possession advantage at the half was 21:14-8:46.

Scobee’s 39-yard field goal tied the score at 3-3 with 7:40 remaining in the first period. After the Giants scored the game’s first points, Jacksonville drove 52 yards in seven plays. Garrad completed an 18-yard pass to Wilford on third down, then followed that immediately with a 23-yarder up the left sideline to Wrighster. On the next play, Garrard’s pass into the end zone sailed through Wrighster’s hands. Two more plays netted five yards and Scobee came on to tie the game.

The Giants took a 3-0 lead on Feely’s 40-yard field goal just 3:22 into the game. Although the Giants put points on the board, it was a squandered opportunity. They took posses-sion on the Jacksonville 29-yard line after the Jaguars punted out of their end zone and they had a second-and-three at the 22. But two Manning incomplete passes – including one to Burress in the end zone – forced Coughlin to send the field goal unit onto the field.

On the game’s first series, Garrard failed to catch a third-down shotgun snap, and the ball rolled all the way to the one-yard line, where the Jacksonville quarterback fell on it. Torbor then tagged Garrard, ending what was officially ruled an aborted play.

The teams traded turnovers late in the first half.

The Jaguars got the ball when Deon Grant inter-cepted an underthrown Manning pass intended for Burress, who was running down the right side. Grant, the free safety, caught

the ball at the Jaguars’ 46, fell to the ground, then popped up. Burress tagged him, but Grant was already on his feet and ran for 24 yards to the Giants’ 30-yard line.

Jacksonville appeared to be ready to add to its lead when they had a first down on the Giants’ 14-yard line. Garrard flipped a short pass to Taylor, who was just three yards from the end zone when he was stripped of the ball by Gibril Wilson. The ball bounced into the end zone, where it was recovered by Antonio Pierce.

But in keeping with the tenor of the game, the Giants failed to take advantage of the opportunity.

The Last Time Dec. 1, 2002 Giants Stadium Titans 32, Giants 29 (OT) The Giants, who led by 12 points early in the fourth period, gave up the tying touchdown and two-point conversion with nine seconds left in regulation, then saw Tennessee's Joe Nedney kick a 38-yard field goal with five minutes elapsed in overtime as they lost to the Titans, 32-29, in cold and windy Giants Stadium. The Giants failed to score a touchdown after getting a first-and-goal at the Tennessee one-yard line late in the fourth period. They had to settle for Matt Bryant's 19-yard field goal and a 29-21 lead with 2:21 remaining. Tennessee took advantage, driving 81 yards in 12 plays, culminating in Steve McNair's nine-yard touchdown pass to tight end Frank Wycheck with nine seconds remaining in regulation. From a spread formation, McNair ran a quarterback draw for the game-tying two-point conversion. The Giants won the overtime coin toss, but punted the ball from their own 46. Tennessee took possession at its own 20, and McNair completed passes of 12 yards to Drew Bennett, 23 yards to John Simon and 12 yards to Derrick Mason. Robert Holcombe ran for 14 yards, then lost a yard before Ned-ney came on to kick the game-winner. But the defense accepted its share of responsibility. It had to, after allowing 476 yards, 31 first downs and two fourth-period touchdown drives that totaled 153 yards. Quar-terback Steve McNair completed 30 of 43 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns. Collins threw touchdown passes to Dan Campbell and Ron Dixon, Tiki Barber ran for another score, and Bryant kicked three field goals for the Giants. Tennessee, which got three touchdown passes from McNair and a scoring run from Eddie George, improved to 7-5. The Giants held a 20-14 lead after three periods, but couldn't

survive the fourth quarter. They padded their lead 45 seconds into the period when Barber scored on a one-yard run. The score climaxed a nine-play, 80-yard drive that began with Bar-ber's 42-yard run around left end. He followed that with a 12-yard run. Late in the drive, the Giants picked up a first down at the Tennessee one when safety Tank Williams was penalized for pass interference. It was the second time the Titans had put the Giants on the doorstep of the goal line with a pass interfer-ence penalty. The Giants had capitalized in the second period with Campbell's touchdown. This time, Barber took a handoff on first down and bulled his way into the end zone. Ahead 26-14, Fassel elected to go for two instead of kicking the extra point. But Collins couldn't find an open receiver and the try failed. The missed point would come back to haunt them. The Titans closed to within five points with 7:34 remaining in the game, when George dove into the end zone from a yard out. The touchdown capped a 72-yard, 14-play drive that immediately followed Barber's touchdown. The big play on the drive was McNair's 21-yard pass to rookie running back John Simon, which gave Tennessee a first down on the Giants 25-yard line. McNair also completed passes of 17 and 13 yards to Derrick Mason, who caught 12 passes for 116 yards and a score. George gained the last 10 yards on the drive with runs of six, three and the one-yard scoring plunge.

The Giants responded by moving from their own 20 to the Tennessee one-yard line. Collins completed a pass of 21 yards to Jeremy Shockey and two throws to Amani Toomer, including a 34-yarder that gave the Giants a first down at the one. But the Giants couldn't punch it in. Barber was stopped for no gain, then lost a yard before Collins threw an incompletion to Charles Stackhouse. Bryant came on to kick his third field goal, a 19-yarder, but the failure to reach the end zone proved fatal. The Titans took possession at their own 19 with 2:13 left. McNair was brilliant, completing seven of 11 passes for 70 yards on the drive. He also ran 11 yards for a first down. On first-and-goal from the nine, McNair fired a strike to Wycheck, who went low to the ground to catch the ball. The play was reviewed, then upheld. McNair stepped in to the end zone on a quarterback draw on the two-point conversion, and the score was tied at 29 with nine seconds left. After the second-half kickoff, the Giants took pos-session at their 38. Barber lost two yards, but Collins thenthrew down the middle for Toomer for 25 yards. Another 15 yards was tacked on after safety Aric Morris was penalized for twist-ing Toomer's facemask. That gave the Giants a first down on the Tennessee

On the next play, Collins threw into the end zone for Dixon, who went to his knees to make the catch that gave the Giants the lead. After Tennessee went three-and-out, the Giants increased their advantage to 20-14 on Bryant's 36-yard field goal. The Giants drove 40 yards in six plays before the kick. McNair's 26-yard touchdown pass to Bennett with just 23 sec-onds left in the second period gave the Titans a 14-10 halftime lead. The score followed by just 51 seconds a one-yard touch-down catch by Dan Campbell that had given the Giants an ad-vantage they could hold only briefly. The Giants rushed for minus-six yards on 11 carries in the first half. After Campbell's touchdown, Justin McCareins' 25-yard kickoff return gave the Titans a first down on their own 37. McNair quickly gained 13 yards on a scramble up the left side. After an incomplete pass, McNair connected with Mason for 24 yards to the 26. The Titans called timeout with 29 sec-onds remaining. When play resumed, McNair threw into the end zone for Bennett, who got a step on cornerback Ralph Brown. It was Bennett's second touchdown of the season. The Titans took a 7-3 lead on McNair's six-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Mason with 12:02 remaining in the second period. The score capped a huge 86-yard, 18-play drive during which the Titans took 9:29 off the clock. Along the way, Tennessee converted three third-down opportunities and two fourth-down chances and sabotaged a strategic decision by Fassel. Tennessee picked up an early first down on Eddie George's 10-yard run. Two plays later, they faced a third-and-seven from their 32 when McNair completed a pass to running back Robert Holcombe for a 13-yard gain. Moments later, the Titans had a third-and-one from the Giants 46 when Holcombe ran for three yards and another first down. George's one-yard run set up a third-and-three situation with nine seconds left in the period. Fassel called timeout, forcing the Titans to run another play into the stiff wind. Holcombe lost two yards, and Fassel again stopped the clock, this time with four seconds left and Tennessee facing a fourth-and-five from the 28. Tennessee would have to throw or kick once more into the wind. The Titans elected to let McNair pass, and he com-pleted a nine-yard throw to Mason, giving Tennessee a first down on the 19 and foiling the Giants grand plan. Another McNair to Mason pass set up a fourth-and-one from the 10. Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher eschewed an almost certain tying field goal and kept his offense on the field. McNair picked up the first down on a two-yard quarterback sneak. George gained two yards before McNair fired to Mason in the back of the end zone for a touchdown.

A Giants takeaway on the game's third play led to Bryant's 38-yard field goal and an early 3-0 lead. Tennessee faced a third-and-five on its own 37 when Steve McNair dropped back to pass and cocked his arm to throw. He was hit by Michael Strahan and lost the ball before his arm started moving forward. The fumble was recovered by Dhani Jones at the Titans 37. It was the 10th consecutive game in which Strahan had at least a half-sack, tying the NFL record set by Simon Fletcher in 1991 and tied by Tennessee's Jevon Kearse in 1999. The Giants then moved 17 yards in six plays, including a 14-yard pass to Ron Dixon that gave the Giants a first down on the Tennessee 19-yard line (after Keith Bullock's five-yard face-mask penalty). But Tiki Barber lost a yard and Collins threw two incompletions before Bryant kicked the field goal.

A Look Ahead– Next week The Giants will try to complete their first series sweep of the Cowboys since 2004 when they host Dallas. The Giants are currently tied with the Cowboys in the NFC East standings. Tennessee will host the Indianapolis Colts next week in an AFC South match-up.

New York Minutes Where they stand- The Giants lost their second con-secutive game and fell to 6-4. After holding a two-game lead at midseason, the Giants are now tied with the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East. Tiki Barber- led the Giants in rushing for the 74th consecu-tive game, extending his NFL record. Barber has rushed for 998 yards this season. He needs two more for his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season and his sixth in seven years. Barber also caught one pass for 13 yards. His 40 total yards increased his career total to 16,541 and moved him past Thurman Thomas (16,532) and into 12th place on the NFL’s all-time list. The 40 yards increased his career total in yards from scrimmage (rushing and receiving only) to 14,814. That moved him past Hall of Famer Jim Brown (14,811) and into 14th place on the league’s career list. Eli Manning- threw 41 passes, his highest total in a game this season that did not go into overtime. He completed 19 of them, a percentage of 46.3. Manning completed 43.8 percent of his passes vs. Chicago. This is the first time he has completed less than 50 percent of his passes in consecutive games since Dec. 5 (48.0 percent at Washington) and Dec. 12 (22.2 at Balti-more), 2004. Plaxico Burress- caught five passes for 65 yards. He now has 6,001 career receiving yards. Brandon Jacobs’- first kickoff return of the season was a 28-yarder. Monster in the middle- Antonio Pierce led all players with 10 tackles (nine solo). He also recovered a fumble. Waving the red flag- Tom Coughlin and Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio succeeded on a combined three of four re-play challenges, with the Giants getting two of three.

In the second quarter, Manning threw down the middle for a 15-yard gain to Burress, who then fumbled the ball after he was hit by Gerald Sensabaugh. Linebacker Clint Ingram recovered the ball. Coughlin challenged the ruling, saying Burress’ knee was down before the ball came out. After review, referee Ron Winter ruled the pass was incomplete and did not charge the Giants with a timeout.

With 5:44 remaining in the fourth period, David Garrard scram-bled and the officials gave him a three-yard gain and a first down. Coughlin challenged the spot. After review, Winter upheld the challenge and said Garrard had gained two yards, setting up a fourth-and-one. Garrard was then stopped for no gain and Josh Scobee came on to kick a field goal. Later in the fourth quarter, Manning threw an 18-yard pass to the eight yard line to Tim Carter, who fumbled the ball away. Coughlin challenged the ruling, claiming the pass was incom-plete. After review, Winter upheld the call on the field and the Giants lost the ball. Coughlin’s challenge scorecard: 2-1 on Monday, 3-3 this season and 9-16 in this three years with the Giants. In the third quarter, Manning threw to Burress for an apparent 57-yard gain. Del Rio challenged the ruling, claiming the pass was incomplete. After review, Winter overturned the ruling on the field and said the pass was incomplete. Giants opponents are 2-3 this season and 6-16 since Coughlin arrived. Homecoming- Coughlin’s trip home wasn’t exactly a sen-timental journey. He came out of the locker room for warmups at 7:40 and immediately approached Rick Murray, a close friend of his who is afflicted with Lou Gehrig Disease and who was on the sideline in a wheelchair. Coughlin was greeted on the field by Tim Connolly, the Jaguars’ senior vice president for business development. But he stayed with the Giants – and far from the Jaguars – during the warm-up period. The coach was not out-wardly emotional about is return to the stadium he literally rebuilt from the ground up. “My emotions were all geared toward playing well and win-ning,” he said. On the move- The Giants Dec. 3 home game against the Dallas Cowboys will have a 4:15 p.m. kickoff. The game time was moved under the NFL’s flex scheduling procedures. The Seattle Seahawks at Denver Broncos game was selected as the Sunday night game, which is televised by NBC. Two games tele-vised by FOX – Giants vs. Cowboys and Tampa Bay at Pittsburgh – were shifted to 4:15 p.m. Inactives/Injuries- The Giants’ inactive list included five players who did not make the trip: tackle Luke Petitgout (fractured fibula), defensive ends Michael Strahan (foot) and Osi Umenyiora (hip flexor), cornerback Sam Madison (hamstring)

and linebacker Brandon Short (quad). Also inactive were wide receiver Sinorice Moss (quad) and linebacker Tyson Smith. Tim Hasselbeck was the third quarterback. Rookie Watch– Barry Cofield had four solo tackles against Jacksonville while starting at nose tackle. Mathias Kiwanuka, starting at right end, had two solo tackles. Kevin Dockery had one solo tackle and one pass defensed, while Guy Whimper and Gerris Wilkinson both saw game action. Sinorice Moss was inactive. Return of “The Duke- The NFL has renamed its offi-cial game ball “the Duke” in honor of Wellington Mara, the late Giants’ owner. Mara, who died last October, was named after the Duke of Wellington and acquired the nickname “the Duke” when Giants players began calling him it as a child. The NFL’s official game ball was known as the Duke from 1941-69, at the suggestion of Chicago owner George Halas. Halas and Tim Mara, Wellington’s father, were also responsible for making Wilson the league’s official supplier of game balls. Use of the name was discontinued in 1970, following the merger of the NFL and the American Football League. This season it will re-turn to honor one of the most influential members of the NFL family. Titans-Giants Connections – Giants secondary and safeties coach David Merritt coached outside linebackers at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga in 1997 … Giants special teams coach Mike Sweatman was an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee in 1983 … Giants director of player personnel Jerry Reese both played and coached at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Following his collegiate career (1981-1984), Reese served as a student assistant, fol-lowed by a graduate assistantship before becoming the univer-sity’s secondary coach in 1988. He held that position until 1993, when he began coaching receivers and was named assis-tant head coach … Giants scout Donnie Etheridge was a stu-dent coach and a graduate assistant at the University of Ten-nessee at Martin … Gibril Wilson attended the University of Tennessee …

Head Coaches Tom Coughlin NFL Record: 95-84-0 NFL Head Coach: 11th season College: Syracuse Tom Coughlin was named the 16th head coach in Giants history on Jan. 6, 2004. A highly-respected coach who has succeeded as a head coach in the NFL and on the collegiate level, Coughlin was an assistant coach with the Giants when they won Super Bowl XXV in 1990. The Giants improved from four to six victories in Coughlin’s first season and last year went 11-5 and won the NFC East division championship. It was Coughlin’s third division title and fifth appearance in the playoffs in his 10 seasons as an NFL head coach. Coughlin is 91-79 (.538) in the regular season and 95-84 (.466) in all games. Coughlin’s 91 regular season victories place him 11th among current NFL head coaches. Nine of the 10 coaches ahead of him have coached at least one more season than Coughlin and one, Tony Dungy, has coached the same number of years. He is the only one of the 11 to have coached an expansion team. Coughlin became the first head coach of the expansion Jaguars on Feb. 21, 1994, 559 days before the franchise played its first regular season game. In 1995, Jacksonville won four games, more than any previous expansion team in NFL history. The following year, Coughlin was named NFL Coach of the Year by United Press International as the Jaguars made the playoffs in just their second season and advanced all the way to the AFC Championship Game, where they lost to the New England Patri-ots. That began a streak of four consecutive playoff seasons for the Jaguars. In both 1997 and ‘98 Jacksonville won 11 games, winning their first division title in 1998. The following season, the Jaguars had an NFL-best record of 14-2 and again advanced to the conference title game. Coughlin arrived in Jacksonville following three years as the head coach at Boston College, where he turned a struggling program into a Top 20 team. He was 21-13-1 in three seasons

(1991-93) with the Eagles, including 9-3 in 1993, when Boston College won eight consecutive games, defeated top-ranked Notre Dame, 41-39, and beat Virginia in the Carquest Bowl. Coughlin was the Giants wide receivers coach under Bill Parcells from 1988-90. Under his tutelage, receivers such as Mark In-gram, Lionel Manuel, Odessa Turner and Stephen Baker all improved and helped the Giants win their second Super Bowl. Coughlin began his coaching career in 1969 as a graduate assis-tant at Syracuse, his alma mater. He was the head coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1970-73, compiling a record of 16-15-2. Coughlin returned to Syracuse in 1974, first serving as quarterbacks and offensive backfield coach for three seasons before being promoted to offensive coordinator for four years. In 1981, Coughlin went to Boston College for the first time, as quarterbacks coach under Jack Bicknell. Coughlin entered the NFL as the Philadelphia Eagles’ wide re-ceivers coach in 1984 and ‘85. He held the same position with the Green Bay Packers in 1986 and ‘87 before moving to the Giants for a three-year stint. Coughlin was a three-year letterman at Syracuse University from 1965-67. As a senior in 1967, Coughlin broke Syracuse’s single-season pass receiving record. That year, he won Syra-cuse’s Orange Key Award as the university’s outstanding scholar-athlete. He graduated in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree in education and received a master’s degree in education the following year. Thomas Richard Coughlin was born on Aug. 31, 1946 in Water-loo. He is the oldest of seven children. Coughlin and his wife Judy, have two daughters, Keli and Katie, a son-in-law Chris (Katie’s husband) two sons, Brian and Tim, two daughters-in-law, Andrea (Tim’s wife) and Susie (Brian’s wife), and four grandchildren, Emma Rose, Dylan, Shea Thomas and Cooper Christopher.

Head Coaches Jeff Fisher NFL Record: 105-96 NFL Head Coach: 12th season College: Southern California

Jeff Fisher is entering his 12th season as Head Coach of the Tennessee Titans and his seventh as Executive Vice President. Fisher holds the franchise record for wins by a head coach with 102 victories.

Fisher led the Titans to four playoff appearances (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003), two Division titles (2000 & 2002), two AFC Championship Games (1999, 2002) and one Super Bowl berth (XXXIV). He presided over the most victorious (56 regular season wins and 5 postseason wins) and successful five-year period in the franchise’s 46-year history.

The1999 season brought the team its first AFC Championship and appearance in Super Bowl XXXIV. Fisher followed the team’s first AFC championship in 1999 with an AFC Central crown and the league’s best record in 2000. It was the first time in franchise history that the Titans/Oilers owned the NFL’s best record (13-3) and only the third time the club won the AFC Central.

In 2000, Fisher became only the fifth coach in NFL history to lead his team to consecutive 13-win seasons, joining Mike Ditka (Chicago Bears, 1985-86), George Seifert (San Fran-cisco, 1989-90), Marv Levy (Buffalo Bills, 1990-91) and Mike Holmgren (Green Bay Packers, 1996-97. In 2002, Tennessee got off to a 1-4 start . Fisher rallied the players to win 11 of the next 12 games, capture the AFC South title and earn a place in the AFC Championship Game. For his accomplishments, he was named NFL Coach of the Year by Football Digest and AFC Coach of the Year by the 101 Awards in Kansas City.

Fisher originally joined the Oilers’ coaching staff on Feb. 9, 1994, after spending two seasons as the defensive backs coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He was elevated to head coach on Nov. 14, 1994, replacing Jack Pardee, for the final six games of the season.

Fisher officially began his coaching career as an assistant for Ryan and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1986, tutoring the defensive backs for three seasons before becoming the NFL’s youngest defensive coordinator in 1988.

In 1991, Fisher headed west to be reunited with his

college coach John Robinson, serving as the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator before joining the 49ers one year later.

Fisher has served on the NFL Competition Commit-tee since 2000 and has been Co-Chairman of the Committee since 2001.
