holidays. They are very
hospitable. Any holiday
is celebrated with lots
of food and presents.

New Year’s Day
The first holiday of
the year is New
Year’s Day. This is
the main holiday in
our country.
People buy and make
presents, discuss the
menu. Most of people
believe it is a family
holiday.

Year on the 1st

January, to
decorate houses
and rooms with
evergreen plants
and to make
fireworks.

The holiday begins when people put up
the New Year Tree. People decorate
the rooms with special decoration,
and also the tree with sweets,
oranges and glass balls.

midnight the
President makes
his traditional
speech. All listen
to the speech,
then wish each
other «Happy
New Year».

Russian Christmas is celebrated on
the 7th
of January. It is a religious
holiday when people go to a church
and give each other gifts. This day
has become the day of family
reunion and happiness.
