with your coaches to make what are commonly called: halftime adjustments.

Some coaches are well-known for being especially good at halftime adjustments. They have a knack for seeing certain trends in the game that need to be addressed. They change things up just a little bit, often resulting in some noticeable improvements in the second half. These are not typically major changes. They’re just little tweaks or a shift in strategy, that can make a significant difference.

We’re going to make one such adjustment beginning Easter Sunday, April 1.

Our Sunday worship times beginning Easter Sunday and continuing on after that, will be 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Or, to put it another way, we’re moving all three of our worship hours 15 minutes earlier.

As you likely know, our mission here at King Street is to engage and bless our community with the Gospel. We exist to make disciples by reaching lost and hurting people with the good news of Jesus Christ, resulting in our

being spiritually alive in Christ, relationally connected by Christ and missionally engaged for Christ. An essential component for all of us is that we gather with the body of Christ to worship, fellowship and be fed by the Word of God.

A year ago, we made the decision here at King Street to allow for a half hour in between our three Sunday services, allowing ample time for us to interact without being in a rush to clear our worship spaces and move on. This moved our 11a.m. services in the Baker and Sanctuary back fifteen minutes to 11:15 a.m. We wanted to give this change some time and then evaluate its effect.

While the impact wasn’t immediate, atten-dance at the 11:15 a.m. hour has been slipping. The feedback we’ve received is that even though it’s “only fifteen minutes,” it does seem to make a significant difference. Our 9:45 a.m. Baker service has been full to overflowing and the 11:15 a.m. Baker service (an identical service) still has ample room. Numerous families with younger children have shared that they would prefer an 11 a.m. start time, allowing time to get home, have lunch and get the kids down for naps.

The goal in all of this is to reach lost people for Christ and to make room in our services. Ultimately it’s to make disciples!

much discussion and planning taking place as the leadership plans for the Easter services. There will be a Saturday night service at 6 p.m. in the Baker Center. On Easter Sunday morning there will be one service at 8 a.m., three services at 9:30 a.m. including one in the Children’s Ministry Center and two services at 11 a.m.

Pastor Jody presented a proposal that has been discussed at all levels of leadership. The proposal is for services to continue at the same times as the Easter services, 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00. The board discussed the advantages and disadvantages of making this a permanent change. Pastor Don Baker added statistics from past years on attendance fluctuation to aid in the discussion. A motion for support of the time changes after Easter was approved unanimously.

Pastor Jody proposed that he step into the position of elder chairman until the end of the year, at which time a new chairman could be elected. In that time period Pastor Jody feels that the elders could reexamine the role of elders in our church. A motion on this proposal was approved.

Executive Pastor's Report:Pastor Don Baker announced that four

baptisms will take place on February 25 with partnership classes scheduled for March 11, 18 and 25. The Samaritan’s Auction will take place on March 24. Pastor Don also expressed his excitement with Adam Keath being added to the staff. Progress is being made in the search for the Worship Associate position. Some of the intern positions have been filled and they are looking through more applications for student and worship interns. There will be a reception for Mitch Benedict on his last Sunday with us. That is scheduled for February 25 after the last service.

Co-mission Reports: • Adult Ministries – Andrea Adams communi-

cated past and future ways that the co-mission

is serving the adults of our congregation. The Teacher Support Team has been visiting Sunday school classes to learn about them, connect with them and determine ways to provide support and encouragement. The Night to Shine was a success thanks to the many volunteers. The Women’s Ministry is looking forward to this year’s Festival of Tables on March 17. The theme is “Days of Creation,” which will be presented by Bill Kirkpatrick. Primetimers have begun the year with monthly potlucks and will start their trips in April by traveling to Virginia Beach to see “Tattoo” and to see the presentation of “Jesus” at Sight and Sound. Primetimers are still looking for a leader for their organization. Andrea noted that during their next meeting in March, they will be revisiting the teacher covenant. The co-mission is considering a new Sunday school class for younger adults at the 9:45 hour for those who attend the 11 a.m. worship service.

• Children’s Ministry – Sue Washabaugh communicated that within the After School Program all children have sponsors for their Puerto Rico project. Maddie Sollenberger has been selected for a summer internship position in the children’s department. Baby baskets were delivered to new moms in our congregation. The Daddy/Daughter Date Night will be held on March 9 with the help of many volunteers from the church. Childcare for the Easter services is planned. Vacation Bible School will take place the last week of June and the theme correlates with Pastor Jody’s theme for the year of “Life in His Name.”

• Finance – Brad Etchberger reported on the Finance Co-mission meeting held on January 29. The account representative who oversees our Endowment and Generation Next Step accounts was on hand to review 2017 and make suggestions for 2018. Ken Adams announced that there are 50 students receiv-ing grants from the Student Grant Fund of $181.00 each for the winter/spring semester.

Dave Rotz, Audit and Compliance Chairper-son, contacted auditors and has scheduled the church audit for Wednesday, February 21. The King Street Church mileage rate for 2018 was increased from $.535/mile to $.545/mile effective January 1. The support given to church attendees who take part in Rhodes Grove Camp will remain the same as that con-tributed last year. Ken reviewed the January financial report and noted that the monthly giving was below budget. He also reviewed the annual financial report for 2017 indicating that 18.1% of our total income supported out-reach/mission initiatives. Our Sunday school classes provided over $ 85,000 of that giving.

• Local Outreach – Tom Knepper described the exciting and successful quarterly meeting held on February 6. There were 14 organizations rep-resented that are growing and very appreciative of King Street Church for their support. The meeting was very positive and very engaging. Those attending spoke of answers to prayers that brought more than they had prayed for.

• Missions – Scott Bert reported on an update on the Gerlachs in Thailand shared by Andrea Meredith, the Thailand Barnabas Team leader. Bryan’s work is going well and TEAM asked him to consider taking on extra responsibilities. The Barnabas Team has a long term goal of making connections outside of Chiang Mai, the city where the Gerlachs live. Scott stated that Pastor Jay Brown updated the co-mission on the recent trip to Haiti which included Pastor Jay, Rodney Mose and Rick Sanders. Mark Wallace, of CH Global and Pastor Richard also joined the team to visit possible churches that we could partner with. There are five United Brethren churches in one area that were destroyed by Hurricane Matthew. Pastor Jay shared that one of the churches stands out as the best fit for a partnership. There is another church that could really use some construction help to repair their roof that was destroyed. The churches are close enough together that it is feasible to

work with more than one. The youth of King Street Church will be traveling to Arcahaie in July to conduct Vacation Bible School with the children. Scott noted the upcoming Sunday worship service on March 4 will celebrate Haiti.

• Personnel Relations – Kim Shatzer noted that Ken Adams has the process in place to offer dental and vision insurance as an employee paid benefit for staff. The Search Team is advertising for the Worship Associates replacement. Nate Hann has been working on recruiting more worship volunteers for the Easter services. An updated job description for Worship Associate was approved. There was also an electronic motion/vote to fill the open custodial position. The second shift custodial position was filled.

• Property – Jim Goetz reported repairs taking place on the boiler, reclaiming pump and water leaks. Ken Adams is continuing to work on iden-tifying a replacement camera system through-out the church building. There is work being

Prayer for Families and Homesby Nancy FritzPrayer Ministry

Lord, all around us we see brokenness and we are made aware of the fragility of life.

There are children whose delicate trust and sense of wonder can so easily be broken.

There are teenagers whose sense of self-worth can be completely shattered by a word or a disapproving look.

There’s a family’s unit of love, respect and closeness which can be marred by criticism or misunderstandings, dividing family members into torn and fragmented individuals.

There’s a marriage we all thought was sturdy and nearly perfect, which can splinter into pieces before our eyes.

There is an old man, a middle-age woman and a young boy who suffer from the crush-ing effects of daily pressures. Their minds are emotionally disturbed and frail.

Dear Lord, Please be the glue that holds our fragmented hearts and minds together and

never let us forget your words: “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind

and heart. The peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid (John 14:27). Thank You, Lord, for this, because these are very fragile times and some-times we are afraid” (Author- Joyce Landorf ).

Hymn: “Happy the Home When God Is There “

(Author John B. Dykes. (1823-1876)Verse 1 Happy the home when God is there,And love fills everyone,When with united work and prayerThe Master’s will is done.Verse 2Happy the home where God’s strong love Is starting to appear,Where all the children hear His fameAnd parents hold him dear. Verse 3 Happy the home where prayer is heard And praise is everywhere,Where parents love the sacred WordAnd its true wisdom share.Verse 4Lord, let us in our homes agreeThis blessed peace to gain;Unite our hearts in love to Thee,And love to all will reign. Write down the names of families you know

who are broken, separated, troubled, heart-sick, etc. As you pray for them, ask the Holy Spirit to work in their hearts, to give them new desires, lead them to find salvation in Christ and develop and apply these amazing attributes in their homes and families.

PS: If you want to respond to me with ques-tions, suggestions, etc. feel free to email me: [email protected].

Administrative Report:Ken Adams shared that there have been six

iPads ordered for the check-in of children and youth to be used with the most recent data-base program. The cost will be covered by the Children’s Ministry Fund. Also, the children’s areas will have additional security by adding dead bolts to doors which do not already have them and by adding blinds to the windows along hallways to reduce visibility from the hallway when needed.

(These highlights are taken from minutes written by Karen Byers, Recording Secretary for the Board of Administration. Board meetings are open to members of King Street Church. Unabridged copies of the minutes from the February meeting will be available at the church office after they are approved at the next meeting.)

by Jim Roberts on behalf of the Night to Shine Committee

I can’t tell you how proud I am to be a member of a church that understands that the Kingdom of God includes those who are often marginalized in our world. In addition King Street Church understands that the Kingdom is larger than King Street and demonstrates an eagerness to cooperate with other believers for the sake of the Kingdom.

How do I know this? Because the church community came together and partnered with Antrim BIC to host Night to Shine, a prom-like event for individuals with special needs. We had over 90 guests attend and well over 200 volunteers. The lady guests were pampered by getting their hair, make up and nails done.

The gentlemen had their shoes shined for the occasion while wearing their tux provided by J and B Bridal.

The evening included an excellent meal, photo booth, DJ and dance floor, a game room, limo rides, balloon sculptures and a gift bag to take home. Each guest was crowned king or queen as they walked the red carpet. It was a night to remember for sure.

I say thank you to the committee who gave countless hours to planning the event and the hundreds of volunteers who pulled it off with precision. To better get the pictures go to www.nighttoshine2018.com and click on gallery.

Our ultimate goal is that God receives a measure of glory from the evening. I am con-vinced the Trinity was smiling during the event because we were extending the Kingdom to some of His precious children.

Thank you from the committee members of Antrim BIC and King Street. Next year Night to Shine will be held at Antrim BIC and hosted by both Antrim and King Street.

Spring is upon us and Daylight Savings Time is only a couple of weeks away! With the warm weather, I have already begun to sit outside and read both my Kindle and/or a book! I just completed a three book

series written by author Colleen Coble, set in Maine. She is an American Christian writer and we have 16 of her 35 books in our library. Her books are all classified as fiction but also cate-gorized as having aspects of history, suspense, intrigue, mystery and romance—that’s quite a combination. There can be many unexpected twists and turns too, but in all the books I have read, there is an underlying reliance on the guidance and love of our Lord.

She has received both Bookseller’s Best and National Reader’s Choice awards, plus many others. She comes from Indiana and says “Born and raised in the Midwest, I grew up on a farm with horses, pigs and chickens. I had plenty of adventure, from being dragged by my pony to running my brother Randy’s motorcycle through a fence. Maybe that’s why all my stories have action and adventure in them.” Her first books took place in the wild west in the 1860s but in the first book I read by her, the story opens in current times in Afghanistan in the office of the American ambassador who has just received a threat against the life of his daughter. The story lines vary and keep one interested.

Colleen Coble is just one of the 1687 authors in our KSC library waiting for you! Please stop by and browse the selection, or you can check

by Phil Shuman and Bob Ramsey on behalf of the KSC Organ Committee

We have been very fortunate to enjoy the beauty and majesty of a pipe organ every Sunday for almost 50 years! The original pipe organ was purchased from M. P. Moller Pipe Organ Company of Hagerstown, MD in 1969 for less than $40,000 during the pastorate of Reverend Paul B. Baker. This was about the price of a nice sized home at the time. It was the dream of W. Harry Forbes, choir director, and Curtis Lawyer, an organ enthusiast in the congregation, to have a pipe organ in King Street Church.

The organ has been in continuous use since 1969 with the exception of several months in

them out electronically at www.librarything.com with user name: kingstreetchurch and the password: k1ngstr33t, both all lower case. Once you have arrived, click on a category and it lists all the books in that category, or search by author. The library is located on the lower level of the Baker Center. Until next time, happy reading!

1986 when the sanctuary was renovated and expanded. During that time the organ was dis-mantled by M. P. Moller Organ Company and transported to Hagerstown until the sanctuary expansion was completed.

In recent years some of the mechanical parts of the organ were becoming unreliable. An organist is able to set up different combinations of organ sounds to use during preludes, offerto-ries, anthems, hymns and postludes. It became very difficult to change those combinations and we were never sure if they would work or not once they were changed.

On August 12, 2015 the Board of Adminis-tration approved upgrading the organ project and the contract was signed on December 9, 2015 with Mark Cooley Pipe Organ Company. This allowed us to refurbish the four keyboard organ console that we had purchased from St. Matthews Cathedral and convert the organ to solid state circuitry with a computer memory system. The new computerized console was installed during the fall of 2016.

The final phase of the organ project will give us additional sounds to better support congregational singing, choir accompaniment, the contemporary services, special programs, weddings, funeral services and solo voices. These improvements will complete the organ upgrade project.

We want to thank all who made the recent Christmas “Festival of Carols” service possi-ble. Thanks to all the participants, those who helped with the reception, those who helped with ushering, sound board, projection, choir, instrumentalists, soloists, office staff, custodial staff, and those who helped set up and put away tables as well as any others we may have missed. Thanks also to all those who attended on such a wintry afternoon. Your support is greatly appreciated.

We are currently making plans for some additional Organ Fund Raising events and they will be announced in the Messenger and the KSC News Sunday Morning video announce-

ments in the near future. Together we can pre-serve, protect and equip the KSC Pipe Organ to continue to lead and serve in worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for generations to come! Please prayerfully consider donating to the organ fund by marking “organ fund” on the memo line of your checks and placing it in the offering plate. You may also enclose your contribution in a pew envelope and mark it “Organ Fund” and place it in the offering plate. As of 2/19/18 we have $21,602 in the organ fund with a goal of raising $125,000 to complete the project.

Praise be to God!

Worship ServicesMAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICEThursday, March 29 6 p.m. • Sanctuary

Maundy Thursday, or “Holy Thurs-day,” is a day to commemorate the Lord’s supper with his apostles. Their meal cel-ebrated their final Passover together and afterwards Jesus washed the feet of his disciples in a beautiful display of love and humility. He follows this act with a command, found in John 13:34, “A new command I give you; love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

In the Latin, the word for command is “mandatum,” which is also the origin of the English word “mandate.” The term “maundy” also alludes to this command to love.

This year King Street Church will cel-ebrate this event with a special service (but no foot washing). Come and join around the table of Christ as we reflect on this last week of the life of Christ and exactly what He was communicating to His closest followers. Perhaps this evening will be as life changing for you as it was for Christ’s followers so long ago.

No childcare is provided for this family event.

Once More Ministries Report

Once More Ministry’s next distribution day is March 10, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. As the Lord guides us, we shall be prepared. The volunteers are joyfully pre-paring for the blessings that will be given and received. As preparations continue we

ask that you keep this ministry and their recipients in your prayers.

Preparations are also being made in the

ministry center with the replenishment of sup-plies and restocking of the shelves. OMM is

continually in need of essentials including individually wrapped paper towels, toilet paper, feminine prod-ucts, laundry detergent, fabric softener, dish detergent, bar soap, toothpaste, deodorant and razors. Thank you for your continued support.

Any person interested in volunteer-ing with OMM, should contact [email protected]. Positions include prayer partners (bilingual encouraged but not necessary), greeters, packers and runners.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayer, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1Timothy 2: 1-4).

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Thanks be to God,OMM Volunteers

We want to thank you church com-munity for including us in your prayer list these past months. We feel the support and caring of all who pray for us.

It’s so comforting to know that He’s in charge and His plan for our lives envelops us. This isn’t a journey we would have chosen but our faith, family and friends give immeasurable support and reassurance that He loves us and is always there for us!

Sincerely,Diane and Jim “Kirk” Kirkpatrick

EXCERPTS FROM RECENT COMMUNICATIONS

Emily and Bryan GerlachFebruary 6, 2018(Serving in Thailand with TEAM Global Missions)

Greetings from sunny Thailand! We love this time of year here, especially

when compared to much of the US, but next month we will have temps around 100 with high humidity so you can bet that we will be missing the nice cool spring days then. God has really been blessing us with good situations where we can work and use our gifts. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

Fly Eagles Fly! Another full month for the Gerlach house!

Bryan will be helping to host the Family Connection Foundation Conference at the beginning of March and continuing to work closely with the new projects that are joining the foundation. Emily continues to build rela-tionships with the girls at the youth detention center. It always takes a long time to get to a point of trust but it’s worth the effort. Jameson is talking more and more and makes strangers smile every day.

It was so much fun hosting a breakfast party for the Super Bowl and watching the Eagles win! Finally! It also reminds us that when we

feel weary, which we so often do, God promises to raise us up on wings like eagles, which He always does.

MISSIONS NEWS

Instead of wings, we had sticky buns for a game that started at 6:30 a.m.!

It’s a true blessing to have a community of friends for the whole family!

Prayers:• For wisdom as parents.• For opportunities to have meaningful

conversations.• Bryan seeking wisdom with how to be

most impactful in his work.• Emily continuing to discern her roles in

our work, church and family life.Praises:

• We have begun to meet and interact more with our neighbors, much thanks to Jameson!

• Jameson is learning to say please, thank you and sorry!

• Emily has begun volunteering in a youth detention center for girls.

Bernie and Sherry PierceJanuary 30, 2018(Serving in Lincoln, Nebraska with Christar.)

Family here who needs prayer. Here’s a quote from their email: “Could I ask

you to pray extra for us right now? We are in a strong spiritual battle with a refugee family that we have helped a lot. They are in the midst of family conflict and trauma that is threatening to tear the family apart. Pray we stand strong in the Lord and the power of His might, as we wrestle with forces of evil. Pray for great wisdom, protection, peace and repentance.” Today I heard of “potential” improvements in the situation, but only time will tell. Please pray for protection for our teammates, as well.

Praises:1. Friends like YOU praying and giving to

Christar. THANK YOU..2. Our ministry account was in the black at

the end of 2017.3. More time spent and good conversations

with our Sabean friends. The teen we bring to English church with us now has an official name tag as a helper with younger children.

4. Christmas with some special teammates and a few days of vacation with a visit from Bernie’s mom and niece.

5. Twenty-one years of marriage on 12/28- grateful.

6. Some people did brave the negative tem-peratures to come to our Christmas/New Year outreach on 12/31, and those that did heard about the GOOD NEWS.

7. Good restart to our ladies’ YES classes.8. Bernie celebrated another year of life on

1/26, and on the 27th got to be with Joshua during his first Pinewood Derby. He even took home a trophy for car design.

Requests:1. Wisdom as Bernie has been asked to be

in a position of leadership for a Scout group next year.

2. Continued wisdom regarding present-ing Scouts to the Yazidi community—timing, manpower, etc.

3. That God would protect the hearts and minds of Joshua and Timothy and work in their hearts; wisdom as parents regarding schooling next year (and raising them in general).

4. That God would work in the hearts of Sabean families who are coming to the Arab church currently. At the moment, they seem very closed to acknowledging Jesus as Lord.

5. Our van returned to the shop today. Miles used for ministry can be reimbursed through our ministry funds, but gas, car repairs and new purchases (and medical expenses) are all per-sonal expenses. Please pray for His provisions.

6. Sherry recovered from strep throat, but Timothy is now miserable. Please pray for full recovery and protection from other illnesses.

7. More of HIM.

Rigo and Chrysti AndinoFebruary 5, 2018(Serving in Honduras with Commission to Every Nation)

It Is OfficialDuring the dry spells Rigo’s phone is con-

stantly ringing with calls about wells. As he has expanded the areas he is going to, he has become more known. His Pozos Andino min-istry is growing and they now have an official logo, sign and business cards. It is also regis-tered as a business in Honduras allowing Rigo to issue receipts and, within Honduran law, run everything legally.

2017 in ReviewLooking back over the year it is easy to see

that God has truly been with us. It has been a year full of important events. It started with the arrival of our special little Abby and two

Page 22: New Worship Service Times Easter Worship Services P.10 ......Step accounts was on hand to review 2017 and make suggestions for 2018. Ken Adams announced that there are 50 students

22

weeks later Rigo turned 50. We had our 15th wedding anniversary, our first child graduated from ninth grade and Chrysti turned 45. We are so thankful to all of you who have been a special part of our lives and have so faithfully prayed for us and supported us.

It Is in the WaterRigo was called by a community leader

saying they urgently needed a well. He explained that many of the kids were sick and being hos-pitalized for diarrhea and vomiting after getting water from a river nearby. He had tried to warn everyone that it was not a safe source of water but when people got desperate they started using the water anyway.

Rigo was happy to give priority to this well, knowing it was not a matter of convenience but of actual life and death for these children. We are reminded that the people of Honduras also need a true source of living water. Many people look to the true source of Living Water. So many people look to other sources for salvation and they are spiritually sick.

Rigo has been doing a study in the book of Romans at church, so we are all prepared with the real source of Living Water and are able to bring others to Christ.

Please pray the wells will be a good source of water for the people and a good way to share God’s Word. Also pray that Rigo will have wisdom as he looks for the sites for donated wells and a work crew that will be a good tes-timony everywhere they go.

RecoveringThe past year has been a difficult one for the

church. One of the young men who was being trained up as one of the leaders decided to leave the church and took many of the members with him. His actions left a lot of hurting hearts behind. God has been faithful and the church has begun to grow again and the wounds are starting to heal. The members that stayed have been faithful and have been working hard. It has been great to see the way God has been

working in their lives and to see growth coming again. One of the areas of greatest growth in the church has been the arrival of several new babies. We have now seen the need to have a nursery to take care of all the little ones and to start caring for the future leaders of the church.

Joel WentzFebruary 20, 2018(Serving in Maine with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship)

Spring Semester ‘18After the ups and downs of Fall ‘17 (and

it was a tumultuous semester), I’ve greeted this new year with joy and anticipation. In the midst of a chaotic, highly-divided culture that is quick to name and blame enemies, I’ve been lovingly reminded of the important calling of establishing faithful Jesus-centered commu-nities on-campus. I firmly believe that active witness to Jesus in the halls of the academy can renew our culture, and am excited to continue to invite your prayers and partnership.

Pray for ServeUP Baton RougeServeUP is one of the most intense things I

do. It’s also frequently the highlight of my year. This year, we have shifted our focus from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, as they still have not recovered from the massive flooding in 2016 (when over 110K homes were destroyed). I will be serving as a Program Director for a site of about 60 students from Maine (Farmington and Maine College of Art) and Massachusetts (Salem State and Endicott) the week of March 11-17. There will be an eclectic mix of students from various beliefs, backgrounds and ideas in the room. Pray that we will be able to facilitate fruitful conversations and relationships as we serve together.

Emily SchoenleberFebruary 21, 2018(Serving in New Zealand with Youth With A Mission)

Happy 2018 from the South Pacific. I hope you have all had a wonderful start to

the new year. Isn’t it hard to believe that we’re already one month into it? As I look back on the month of January, I’m remembering how much has happened. The first couple days of the new year were filled with packing, meetings, visiting friends and saying see you later to Vanuatu. On the 4th I flew out of Port Vila, Vanuatu, to return home to Tauranga, New Zealand. The airport in Port Vila is only about 20 minutes from where I lived and the flight back to Auckland is only three hours. Once arriving in Auckland we have a two and a half hours drive back to Tauranga. Still a bit of travel, but nothing compared to when I come home to Pennsylvania for visits.

It was quite a whirlwind when I arrived back to New Zealand. The base was buzzing because we had outreach teams of students leaving to go to the nations and new staff were also arriving to prepare for the next DTS that would start within the next couple of weeks. The first couple of days I was readjusting to life in a different country and meeting with different people, sorting out what I’d be doing this time around.

During this January DTS, I’m not staffing or leading a school as I’ve done in the past; instead I am helping out in the afternoons on our ministry center staff. My job is heading up some of the students’ “ministry placements” which are basically like chores. Everyone that lives on the base helps out and does their share of cleaning. So each afternoon I get a group of students and organize them to get various areas of our training center cleaned. I really enjoy still being able to be around the students and build relationships with them. They’re a great bunch.

Different is OkayMy day to day life and routine doesn’t look

anything like it has before. I don’t have the same role, the same roommates and the transition of life is all too real. God continues to stir my heart for different communities and nations and I wonder how everything will align and work out. It would be so much easier to default back to what is familiar, to what is comfortable. But the thing is, we don’t really grow that much if we just stay inside our comfort zones.

So instead of trying to find comfort and security in things I can control—my job, my friends, my location, I choose Jesus. I choose to trust Him and make Him first in every-thing. Truly, He knows what’s best for me and I need not to worry. After all, isn’t that what He commands?

Thank you all for so faithfully keeping up to date with what I’m doing, praying for me and supporting me. I am so blessed and loved by many of you literally around the world and I am left humbled and so thankful. Here are some prayer points:

• Healing for my shin as I got an infection (boil) while in Vanuatu 7 1/2 weeks ago and it has yet to fully heal. The doctor put me on antibiotics a few days ago and it is improving.

• Healing for an ongoing toothache.• Pray for the DTS students that they would

be open to receive everything God is wanting to teach them.

• Pray for the DTS staff that they would have wisdom, energy, compassion and be able to find the balance between work and rest.

• Pray for Tauranga and the South Pacific—for unity and love among the churches and that the lost would be saved.

As always, I would love to hear from you. Feel free to contact me via Facebook or send me an email at [email protected].

All my love to you all from New Zealand.
