PUBLIC ART - Call to Artists: Pima County Public Library Martha Cooper Library Expansion Budget for Artwork: $31,500 Application Deadline: March 20, 2020 Project Description: The Pima County Facilities Management Department is seeking an artist or artist team to create design/fabricate/install art work as a part of the work for the upcoming expansion of the Martha Cooper Library within the library system and the Garden District neighborhood community within which it exists. The design of the expansion will begin with the hiring of the Architect pending the approval by the Board of Supervisors at their board meeting anticipated on March 17, 2020. The design of the expansion is consequently not set at this time. The art work will need to be incorporated into the design of the expansion and site improvements. The budget reflects the inclusion of the design, fabrication and installation for the public artwork. New Works Artist Project Grant $4000 individual awards for Visual Arts, Literary Arts, Video/Film/Moving Image The New Works Artist Project Grant seeks to support the depth and breadth of innovative new artwork created and produced in the City of Tucson and Pima County. It supports individual artists’ projects that meet the highest standards of excellence across a diverse spectrum of artistic disciplines. Creation activities must include the production of new artwork with an original and imaginative approach to content and form, as well as a public sharing, premiere, or presentation of the final piece. Application deadline: April 6, 2020

New episode of Artistories on KXCI 91.3FMArtistories is a KXCI program from the Arts Foundation that highlights

the work of our grantees.

In this episode we hear from Cassandra Bendickson of LuftBassoons, a Tucson based band ofbassoons on a mission to bring the magic of the bassoon everywhere and anywhere. Cassandradescribes the variety of genres the quartet enjoys performing, and their grant-funded projectaimed at bringing locally-composed music to their stage.  

Artistories is a project of the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona, which ispartially funded by the City of Tucson and Pima County.

Behold the Big Top: Jean LeRoy's Circus Parade Exhibition*

February 4 - May 10, 2020

The Mini Time Machine Museum | 4455 E. Camp Lowell Dr.

This exhibit of hand-carved folk art is a nostalgic slice of Americana– depicting the circus' main attractions

parading down Madison Wisconsin's Main Street, along with behind-the-scenes dioramas of circus life, as

experienced by LeRoy during the 1930s when he was a clown with the Cole Brother's Circus. Find out more

The Mini Time Machine Museum is a GOS Grantee 2019-2020.

*For the well-being of our visitors, staff, volunteers, and community-at-large during the COVID-19 outbreak, the

museum will be temporarily closed, and all programming cancelled, through March 31, 2020.
