Therefore be followers of God as dear children. And
walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given
Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a
sweet-smelling aroma.

A Time of Fellowship
Thoughts from our other staff… Dear Church Family,
This past Sunday, we walked door to door within a one mile radius
of the church inviting the community to our Vacation Bible
School. That morning we also had a Christian Survey of where you
best fit to serve with the gifts God has given you within the church.
One of the areas to serve was within the Evangelism Team, and I
shared in my last article this is not my gift but that we are all called
to spread the Gospel. For this reason I chose to go door to door
hoping an opportunity would rise; if not then, at VBS. Some
believe they need a lot of specialized training to effectively witness
for Christ. They are afraid to talk to someone about Christ until
they feel confident that they have an adequate amount of Bible
knowledge to deal with any potential questions or objections. Here
is the problem with that sort of thinking; that confident day never
comes. What if the formerly blind man that Jesus healed in John 9
had thought that way? He could have thought, what if Jesus turns
me down? Maybe Jesus is too busy. He may have had those
thoughts. The worst thing that could happen is he would remain
blind, but he overcame them to ask for healing. The success in
evangelism doesn’t come with someone coming to know Christ
because the message can be rejected, but praise be to God when
someone does come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and
Lord. However, success in evangelism is in obedience. When that
obedience is made, the power of the Holy Spirit will take over and
help you with what to say. As I said before I don’t have this gift to
speak to any stranger and share the Gospel, but I evangelize more
often with my actions than with my words. I try to form a
relationship that allows those I come in contact with see Jesus in
me. Pastor Mike described this as living out your faith in his last
article; I say living a lifestyle of worship. We’re talking about the
same thing though we use different terminology. In our American
culture the majority know of Jesus Christ, most use His name in
vain as a curse word. We see television shows that generalize
Christians as “Holier-than-thou” hypocrites. Our culture is tired of
hearing about Jesus. They need to see it lived out in true believers
of Christ - those who study their Bibles daily, pray without
ceasing, obediently tithe, give to those in need, show love and give
mercy. This manner of living a sincere Christian life, being that
city on a hill (Matthew 5:14-16), is evangelism. We should
definitely proclaim the Gospel, especially where the Gospel has
never been heard. This is why we are so mission minded here at
FBC. But we need to walk the walk, and not just talk the talk.
Remember we are to Discipline ourselves for the purpose of
godliness.

Jonathan

FEATURED HOMEBOUND
From the Pastor’s Desk
Are you inviting kids to Vacation Bible School? It is for any child who has finished kindergarten through fifth grade.
Have you been praying for Vacation Bible School? As we pray, God will bless and accomplish His purposes through VBS.
(a) Pray for as many children to come as we can teach. (b) Pray for workers to be thoroughly prepared and prayed up each day. (c) Pray
that the Lord’s sweet Spirit will pervade our campus each day of Bible School. (d) Pray for some students to come to a saving
knowledge of Jesus during the week.
Everybody is invited to the VBS Family night on Wednesday. Come help host the families of the Bible School students. No
dinner reservations are necessary. There will be hot dogs for all. See you then.
This Sunday morning I want to begin a summer series of messages on EPHESIANS, MESSAGE OF GOD’S GLORIOUS
GRACE. In this series I hope that we will better fathom God’s glorious grace in every dimension of our lives. This Sunday we will start
at the beginning and talk about Jesus Christ, the Supreme Manifestation of God’s Grace, in a message from Ephesians 1:3-14.
Thanks to all who filled out the Christian Service Survey. If you did not complete the Survey last Sunday, there will be
copies in Sunday School this week. Please take time to fill one out. We can’t function properly without you!

Encounter God’s awesome power as we fly to some of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Along the way kids will hear Bible stories about God’s awesome power and learn how God wants to give us everything we need through His power and to His glory! In this one-week adventure, kids encounter God’s awesome power through Bible stories, crafts, motivating music, and games. Registration is now underway! You can pick up a registration form in the children’s department or stop by the church office. Or, if you prefer, visit our website at www.fbcclover.com and download the form there and email to Karen Barr at [email protected].
Supplies needed… Buttons of all shapes, colors, and sizes are needed for VBS. Bring them to your Sunday School class and someone will come by to collect them.
We also need small, round cardboard containers (Pringles, oatmeal, etc.). Please leave these in the preschool area or give to Karen Brooks.
We located a box of 2007-
2008 Church Directories.
We realize they are
outdated, but you are
welcome to come by the
church office and pick up
one. It may especially help
newer members place
names with faces.
