From the Desk of Father José…..
Today we celebrate Pentecost. This is the traditional birth of the Church as a Home. The Disciples and Our Blessed Mother were filled with fire and were able to speak different lan-guages. All understood them because the language came from God. This language gave them the courage to communicate the mission of the Church as Jesus told them. The Holy Spirit would be the Advocate and would move this mission to what we know now as the Holy Catholic Church. One of the signs of an active church is its ability to reach to those broken and marginalized. During this pandemic and time when we have
been closed, as a building, NOT as a living Body of the Church, we have been able to reach out to hundreds that have been able to be fed, nourished, and ministered to by our Holy Family Center. Thank you to the many volunteers, but a special word of gratitude to Deacon Louis for keeping the mission alive. Let us continue helping him help others. Donations are welcome as we continue helping the needy and bro-ken. The language of love that is given to those that are unwanted and rejected is key to our mission here at St. Charles. You as the living body of the church have made it a priority to continue helping and being part of the heartbeat of our parish in action. This same courage and action will carry us through as we continue our dialogue with the letter enclosed in this bulletin from Archbishop Jose Gomez. The letter very clearly details different phases and different “procedures” we must do and follow before we open the church building. Please continue praying from your Domestic Church for us and our Welcome Home committee. We have been meeting regularly and will be send-ing our plan to the Archdiocese and waiting for their approval. If you note the letter also invites us to follow the recommendations from the CDC, the State and City ordi-nances as well as the Archdiocesan guidelines. We promise with courage that we are trying our best. Thank you to our Welcome Home Committee and all their members. I am proud of our community and our sensible, gradual, and pastoral approach to open-ing our church. May the Holy Spirit inflame our heart with the gifts of patience and endurance as we will come Home soon. Once the plan and our different phases locally here at St. Charles have been approved then we will have the wonderful dialogue about letting you know our localized approach to our own reality. May St. Charles, our pa-tron saint, be with us and intercede for us.
