In our previous newsletter, you will have seen our request for your feedback regarding our showroom on wheels which was in the development stage.

We?d like to thank all of those that completed the survey, your feedback is invaluable and it has really helped us to develop the concept further.

I have operat ions experience having started work as a Warehouse Operat ive, progressing to a Stock Control Manager at my previous job.

The past 2 companies I have worked for have been within distribut ion. My most recent role gave me a platform to work off and really take charge of all systems and push my ideas through to aid the work flow of the company. I decided it was t ime to move on for a bigger challenge, which is why I took on this role at The Milwood Group. It?s been a bit of change in industries, but with a background qualificat ion in carpentry, I have been able to relate to the job with ease.

I?ve really enjoyed gett ing stuck into my new posit ion, and look forward to a long term stay here at the Milwood Group .

I recent ly received t h is quest ion f rom Danny Bot t erell of TTSS...

"We're showing up on Page 1 of Google for 'Fire Alarm Installers' in our local area... Clacton, Colchester & Essex etc. but we're not showing up for Suffolk, which is down the road. How do we show up when people search for 'Commercial Fire Alarms Suffolk?"

My answer was...

"Let's test this... I will log in to your website & add the word 'Suffolk' it should only take 5 mins to do this"

I had previously built the TTSS website, so I logged in to add 'Suffolk' to the Title Tag, Page Content and in a couple of key areas, in the back end or the website - this is basic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

So this is nothing complicated and something that anyone can do, with a Wordpress site or similar, so whoever built your website, could follow what we've done here, for you.

10 weeks later... I bumped into Danny and in passing, he said something along the lines of...

"BTW, you know what you did t o our sit e, t o m ake it appear on Google for Suf folk , well i t worked, we got a £43,000 job last week, f rom a school in Suf folk who found us on Page 1 on Google :-)"

Bearing in mind I only spent 5 minutes on his SEO, I was shocked that he hadn't immediately rang me when the £43,000 order came in, to ask me to spend many hours on his SEO!!!

As mentioned, TTSS's were not appearing on Page 1 of Google for ?Suffolk? keywords until ?Suffolk? was added as shown... 3 years later TTSS are still listed on Page 1 of Google for ?Suffolk? related search terms, despite them being too busy to spend more time on their SEO!

If you cover neighbouring counties, updating your Title Tags & Content could make a big difference for your business too.

Don?t assume your web designer has labelled your web pages correctly, especially if he is a graphic designer and not an SEO.

Check your web page Title Tags, which can be found at the Top of your Internet Browser, which usually makes up the Headline of your Web Page Listings on Google.

As you can see on the example above, the TTSS Title Tag on their Fire Alarms Page is: Fire Alarm s Clact on, Colchest er Essex Suf folk - TTSS

The Title Tag is one of the first places Google looks, when someone searches online for products or services in your location, and millions of people search like this... so your business keywords and location must be in your Title Tags.

The biggest ?Website? mistake costing biz owners millions in lost opportunities is that their Title Tags are messed up.

TWO INSTALLS FOR OUTDOOR SHELTER

Angela McFlynn wanted a veranda which would offer shelter to part of her decking area and also the entrance into the house by way of the back door.

She also wanted the veranda to blend in with the oak grained decking and to have a space to push her mobile line in should a shower of rain develop.

All these object ives were achieved by this 9 metre x 2.1 metre Simplicity 6 veranda, finished in RAL colour 8003 with a gloss finish.

The low gutter height at the back of the house resulted in the veranda being attached to the house by

powder coated brackets which would allow the wall plate gain sufficient height to obtain the required working fall .

The wall plate was flashed to the gutter using EPDM membrane attached with adhesive which finished direct ing any rainfall into the exist ing gutter.

This method of installat ion resulted in increasing the overall project ion by approx. 500 mm which was a welcome benefit .

Angela was very happy with both the installat ion and the product.

Brendan Mulhall was looking for a quality veranda and was very happy with the veranda sample shown his words were:

"Thanks for calling last night your sample was most impressive."

The finished 6 metre x 3.2 metre white Simplicity 6 met all his expectat ions.
