Einaudi: Film Music Ludovico Einaudi’s evocative and eclectic music has lent itself exceptionally well to a wide variety of films for over two decades. Some of his more recent outstanding contributions are featured here as solo piano pieces. They include the award-winning score for the 2004 French-Italian-Swiss drama Sotto Falso Nome and various pieces for the 2006 feature film This Is England. ‘Nuvole Bianche’ was featured in the first instalment of the Insidious horror franchise in 2010, and no less than nine Einaudi pieces were used in the French box-office hit Intouchables and its two directors’ follow-up, Samba.

ABOUT THE SONG:

It was a 1972 album-promoting film showing him performing the self-penned ‘Imagine’ at a white piano that provided the defining image of John Lennon’s post-Beatle solo career. ‘Imagine’ became a hit single, a legendary hymn of hope, and a lasting testament to the melodic power of simple,
