THE PRESIDENT’S KEY NOTES
Ladies, I think fall has started. I hope we all will be energized to serve this fall. We have
the Flower Power plant sell going on. Bring your orders to our meeting or drop them by
333 South Main Street, Fuquay-Varina NC 27526. We have our Garden Party to look forward
to on Oct. 22 from 11 am to 2 pm. We will need sandwiches, scones and cookies (biscuits)
for this tea party. Ways and Means Committee has been busy. Bobbie Asad has a strong
master plan for this fund raiser, but it will only work if everyone chips in and sign up for
some food for the party and or buy a ticket to attend the party. Cost before Saturday is $20
or on that day $25 for the Garden Party.
We have new members that have jumped into being part of The Woman’s Club, and we
are thrilled to welcome each of you. We also have the Art Festival to think about. So create
a short story, poem or essay or paint a picture or create a photograph or a craft for this art
festival in January. The Junior Club has their formal celebration at Bentwinds CC on Nov.
18th with the cost being $65 a couple before November. Last year it was sold out. In
December we have our first social for the year. We hope each of you will plan to attend,
Dec. 12. So we have much to look forward to in finishing 2016.
We have strong CSP’s that are very busy working on serving the community of Fuquay-
Varina and the areas. Thank you and smiles to all of the hard work many have done and
are doing. I feel blessed to be associated with such fine women. Do not forget to look up at
night, and wonder at those beautiful stars. Each of you have helped to create our
constellation of service in Fuquay-Varina. Each of you shine in our club like a star.
Patty

Did you know that the North Carolina DMV offers a wide variety of specialized license plates, many of which raise awareness of important issues that we, the Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club members, actively support?
These attractive plates show your concern for key environmental issues and, as a bonus, a portion of the additional funds raised by specialty license plate fees (charged in addition to standard registration and renewal fees) go to support the causes YOU care about!
Below are examples of specialized license plates that fit with our Club activities and projects. Their extra fees are listed, along with how those fees are used to support conservation issues in our state
-
Animal Lovers license plate: $30; $20 is given to spay/neuter programs in our state. Mountains to the Sea Trail tag: $30; $20 is given to the Friends of the Mountains to the
Sea Trail, Inc. North Carolina State Parks tag: $30; $20 is given to the Friends of the NC State Parks,
Inc. Wildlife Resources tag: $20; $10 is given to the Non-game & Endangered Wildlife
Conservation fund
And my personal favorite, as our April meeting, to be hosted by our Conservation CSP, will be raising awareness of our dwindling bee populations and the serious dangers posed to agriculture in our state, and around the world, by loss of these crucial pollinators!
Save the Honey Bee tag: $15; $5 is given to organizations working to restore native bee populations (NCSU Apiculture program & Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation).
Please check out all the NC specialized plates that are available and consider ordering one today! https://edmv.ncdot.gov/VehicleRegistration/SpecialPlate
You may order a specialized NC plate online, by mail or in person at the DMV. Please note that you may ONLY order a specialized plates online or by mail if your vehicle is currently titled and registered in NC. New residents and those with new vehicles must apply for plates in person when registering the vehicle.
Thanks for considering this EASY, FUN and ATTRACTIVE way to show you care about key Conservation issues while helping make a difference here in our state!
Home Life – Chair: Barbara Kennedy & Peggy Reynaud
Some members of the Committee will meet on October 4th to call Bingo at the Elderly Home. A card class will be announced at the October meeting for all members to attend. We will be making Christmas Cards for the Elderly Home. We plan on making Christmas bags to go along with the cards. Please bring shampoos and soaps to the next meeting and give to Barb Kennedy.

What’s Race to Erase? It is a 5K Run or Walk (or any other activity you desire) during the countdown to World Polio Day on October 24, 2016. Starting today, we’re challenging you to be part of our race to erase this disease once and for all.
