Please invite the families you know to find out more about our school community. Wednesday 29th August Dilworth Choir 1.45 pm in Holy Cross School Hall. All welcome! FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION On Friday 17th August Holy Cross School will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption with a Liturgy. This will be led by the Y7 and 8 leaders and musicians. Come and join us at 2pm in the school hall for a joyful reflection. Internet Safety: Following the Netsafe information evening in Term 3 we will be sharing weekly Netsafe Tips for parents and family. 4. SET A GOOD EXAMPLE How often do you use your laptop or smartphone at the dinner table? Have you ever made an angry post? Take a look at the way you use technology while young people are around. If you see something that troubles you – change it. How good is your knowledge around online safety, privacy settings and even online shopping? Be better equipped to help by expanding your own knowledge – read the Netsafe Staying Safe Online Guide. A Challenge for all Holy Cross Students is to cut down on the packaging in their lunchboxes. Help us to Respect the Environment that by eliminating the rubbish packets from our playground. The choices we make can benefit our health and cost less. Happy Birthday to all the children who have had their Birthday this week: Marc, Senith, Maria L, Adrian, Matai, Tobias and Dhrumil. As we are now half way through the term, let us reflect upon the words of the Pope we shared in our first newsletter for term 3. “Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of great things!” Last Thursday we celebrated with five other Catholic Schools the gifts and talents of our tamariki. On Friday our Young Catholic Leaders led us in Prayers and song at the Assumption Liturgy. On Wednesday at the Vinnies’ Lounge the 2018 mentor programme has started to grow the young leaders within our school. Everyday students are letting their light shine at Holy Cross. Take time in your family to share your hopes and dreams. Celebrate the talents of your children and share them with our community! RESPECT the ENVIRONMENT!

EASTERN ZONE SWIMMING SPORTSCongratulations to all the students who have made the Eastern Zone Swimming sports. The event will be held at the Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre 23rd August at 9:30 am. Good luck to all the competitors!

This is George and Harry. They are busking down at the waterfront. George is softly blowing into the mouthpiece of his saxophone. Harry’s fingers are dancing across the keyboard of his piano accordion. The tuneful sound fills the air.

There was lots of activity in the garden and kitchen this week. We welcomed visitors from Wellington City Council, The Heart Foundation and the Garden to Table organisation. It was a wonderful opportunity for Rooms 3, 5 and 6 to share their knowledge and skills.

The Mayor was helping our students to plant some herb seeds to sell at the Food Fair in term 4.
