BECOMING AN

ANTEATERThe following information will guide you through the process of accepting admission into the University of California, Irvine. Log into your MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI account at www.admissions.uci.edu for specific details. Be sure to regularly check the Message Center.

International students are to complete the steps for All Students in items 1-7 below as well as the steps specifically for international students that follow.

ALL STUDENTS MUST:1. Read your contract and submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). Your SIR and nonrefundable $100 Acceptance of Admission Fee (if requested) is the key to reserving your space at UCI. The freshman SIR deadline is May 1, 2013 or the date specified on your admission letter. The transfer SIR deadline is June 1, 2013 or the date specified on your admission letter. 2. Submit your Statement of Legal Residence (SLR). The information you provide on your SLR is used to determine your residence classification for tuition fee purposes. The freshman SLR deadline is May 1, 2013. The transfer SLR deadline is June 1, 2013.

3. Submit your Housing Application. In order to submit a housing application you must have submitted a positive SIR. The freshman deadline to submit a housing application is May 1. The transfer deadline to submit a housing application is June 1.

4. Submit your official transcripts and test scores. Final official transcripts and test scores are due in the UC Irvine Office of Admissions by July 15, 2013 (by July 1 preferred). Transcripts for any summer college courses in which you enroll are due by September 15, 2013. International students are encouraged to request these early because it may take some time for schools outside of the USA to send your official transcripts to UCI. Failure to provide official transcripts may jeopardize your enrollment at UCI.

Mail official transcripts to:

Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools University of California, Irvine 260 Aldrich Hall Irvine, CA 92697-1075

5. Take placement test(s). Many important courses require placement test results in order for you to register. In particular, writing courses often require a test result for registration. Placement testing is offered in conjunction with Student-Parent Orientation Program and International Student Orientation dates during the summer and September. Visit the Academic Testing Center website at www.testingcenter.uci.edu to obtain information about tests, testing dates, and a guide to which placement tests you may need.

6a. FRESHMEN Attend Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP) or International Student Orientation (ISO). New student orientation is mandatory for all freshmen. There are two orientation programs for international students; the right program for you depends upon where you went to school prior to UCI.

The Student-Parent Orientation Program is a two-day-one-night orientation offered multiple times between mid-July and mid-August. Academic advising, signing up for fall classes, campus tours, social activities, and meeting current and new UC Irvine students are included in the SPOP experience.

6 7

The International Student Orientation (ISO) is a three-day-two-night program that offers many of the same elements as SPOP, but is tailored to the unique needs of international students, in particular students who have not spent a significant amount of time in the U.S. ISO is offered once, September 18-20, 2013.

International freshmen who did not attend high school in the U.S. will be required to go to ISO. International freshmen who did attend high school in the U.S. will have the option of attending SPOP or ISO.

In order to enroll in courses for fall quarter, you will need to sign-up for orientation. If you are unable to travel to Irvine during the summer to attend SPOP or ISO, you must request an Orientation Exception. The Orientation Exception Request form will be available online when your orientation reservation window opens. The date and time of your reservation window will be sent to you via email in early May.

For more information, please visit the orientation website atwww.students.uci.edu/orientation.

6b. TRANSFER STUDENTS Meet with your Academic Advisor and Attend Transfer Success.

Meeting with your academic advisor is required to enroll in courses. Please contact your advisor to schedule an appointment. Visit www.admissions.uci.edu/resources/academic_counseling.html for academic advisors.

Transfer Success is an orientation program specifically designed for new students transferring to the university. The program will be offered twice in July; attendance is optional, however we hope you will join us! Our goal is for your transfer experience at UC Irvine to be positive and enriching, academically and socially.

At Transfer Success you will be able to meet in an informal setting with other new transfer students … you will also have the opportunity to interact with currently enrolled UCI students and learn “survival secrets” from the pros!

Transfer Success does not include academic advising. However, for the convenience of those attending the program, many academic units will be offering advising in the afternoon after Transfer Success. Make an appointment (required) for advising and make a day of it here at UCI. Appointments will be offered on a first-come first-served basis.

Sign-ups for Transfer Success will begin on May 28, 2013 at 4 p.m. (Pacific time). To sign-up for Transfer Success and to obtain program details visit www.students.uci.edu/orientation.

7. Pay fees. Check your ZOT account online to see your registration fees and other charges, as well as any financial aid, waivers or payments credited to your account at https://zotaccount.uci.edu. Be sure to pay the amount due by the fee deadline to avoid late charges and dropped courses.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS MUST ALSO:8. Submit your Confidential Financial Statement (CFS) with signatures and supporting documents. The freshman deadline to submit the CFS is May 1; the transfer dealine to submit the CFS is June 1. CFS and supporting documents received after the deadline will result in the delay of processing the Form I-20. If you do not need to apply for the Form I-20, proceed to step 11. You will need an F-1 student visa to study in the USA if you do not have a visa status that allows you to attend school in the USA. The Form I-20 will allow you to apply for the F-1 student visa. If you are already in the USA in F-1 student visa status, you must request a Form I-20 from UCI and transfer your F-1 SEVIS record to UCI.

Go to your MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI account on the Admissions website at www.admissions.uci.edu to access the CFS.

Follow the instructions, print the CFS, obtain the required signatures with dates (signatures must be in blue ink) and mail the CFS and verification of funds to:
