cONFiRm YOU ARE cOmiNG TO UNLV!Let us know if you plan on being a UNLV Rebel! Log on to my.unlv.edu with your NSHE ID Number and visit the Admissions section of the Student Center where you will have the option to accept your admission. You must confirm your acceptance in order to register for classes. Confirming your acceptance is letting us know that you plan to attend UNLV and is not a binding financial agreement.

IMPortant StEPS tocOmpLETE YOUR AdmiSSiONBe sure to submit these important documents before the first day of classes. The sooner you get your documents submitted, the better prepared you will be for the first day of classes.

• Official transcripts

• ACT and/or SAT test scores

• Immunization records

SENd US YOUR TRANScRipTSYou are required to submit final official transcripts for any classes you are currently taking. Send your transcripts to the Office of Admissions immediately after your high school graduation or at the end of your college semester (transfer students only). If you are taking college credits and attending high school, we will need final transcripts from both institutions. If your transcripts are not submitted, a registration hold will be placed on your student account.

SUBmiT YOUR TEST ScORESIt is important that you submit your official ACT and/or SAT scores. We use them to place you in your first-year math and English courses, and they are a pivotal factor in determining merit-based scholarships. Be sure your scores have been received by UNLV no later than February 1 to be considered for the fall semester scholarship awards. Visit unlv.edu/admissions/act-sat.html for more information.

HAVEN’T TAkEN THE SAT OR AcT YET?The Academic Success Center offers the ACT residual exam year-round. If you have not taken the SAT or ACT, are looking to increase your score, or need updated scores for placement into the appropriate course, visit academicsuccess.unlv.edu to register. Please note that residual exam scores are good at UNLV only and will not be recognized by other institutions.

SUBmiT YOUR immUNizATiON REcORdSBefore you can register for courses at UNLV, you must submit proof of immunization.

the state of nevada requires all students to submit proof of having had the following vaccinations:

• Two doses of live measles (rubeola)

• One dose of mumps

• One dose of rubella

• One dose of tetanus-diphtheria (within the past 10 years)

If you plan to reside in on-campus housing and are under 23 years of age, you must show proof of having had an immunization for Neisseria meningitis.

the following are acceptable as proof of immunization:

• Health Department records

• Childhood immunization records

• High school or college immunization records

• Military, state, or county immunization records

• Laboratory reports that indicate immunity

Where to Send Your records

A photocopy of your immunization documents along with your full name and NSHE ID number should be mailed to the Office of Admissions or faxed to 702-774-8008. Your NSHE ID number is your student ID number and is listed on your acceptance letter.

mYUNLVYour onE-StoP ShoP for aLL StudEnt nEEdS!Log in to your MyUNLV account at my.unlv.edu! MyUNLV provides students with online information and self-service capabilities 24-hours a day. MyUNLV allows students to access personal data, register for classes, check grades, apply for financial aid, and much more. Be sure to log in and check your Communication Center and To-Do List on a regular basis to ensure you have completed all the necessary steps to begin the semester. To learn more about the tools available to you through MyUNLV, please visit aboutmyunlv.unlv.edu.

REBELmAiL: AcTiVATE YOUR UNLV E-mAiL AccOUNT!All students receive a university e-mail account called Rebelmail. Activating and using your Rebelmail account is mandatory. This account is issued after admission and is the university’s official method of communication. Information about academic deadlines, course registration, grade postings, and campus announcements are sent to your Rebelmail account. Semester bills are sent only to your Rebelmail account.

Go to rebelmail.unlv.edu and activate your account, check e-mail, or forward e-mail to your preferred account.

FiNANciAL Aid and tuItIonPreparing for college is an exciting time. To make your first semester at UNLV a successful one, make sure you complete these essential next steps.

AppLY FOR FiNANciAL Aid ANd ScHOLARSHipSIf you need help paying for college, you are not alone. Last year, more than 20,000 UNLV students used loans, grants, scholarships, and work-study programs to help pay for their college expenses.

Start by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to help determine if you are eligible for financial assistance, including grants, scholarships, loans, or work-study jobs. Instructions to apply for financial aid and an online application are available at finaid.unlv.edu.

You will be notified of your financial aid awards through your MyUNLV account. Please review your checklists and award messages at my.unlv.edu to determine if there are additional steps you need to complete for your financial aid to disburse properly to your billing statement.

ScHOLARSHip iNFORmATiONUNLV offers need-based and merit-based scholarships that are awarded on an annual basis. The priority application deadline is February 1. You must submit the FAFSA to be considered for scholarships. Go to finaid.unlv.edu/scholarships-grants to learn more about available awards and search our online database for available scholarships. For more information, call the Financial Aid & Scholarships office at 702-895-3424.

dEAdLiNES TO SUBmiT YOUR FiNANciAL Aid RESULTSThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available after January 1. For priority consideration, submit your FAFSA to UNLV by February 1.

AppLY FOR NEVAdA RESidENcYStudents who have graduated from a Nevada high school are considered residents of Nevada and are eligible for in-state tuition. Even if you do not meet this criteria, you may still be eligible for Nevada residency. Visit unlv.edu/admissions/residency to learn more.

pAY YOUR TUiTiON ANd FEESOnce you have registered for classes, pay your tuition and fees by one of the following methods:

• Online at my.unlv.edu using a credit card or checking account

• At the cashier’s office in the Student Services Complex, Building A (SSC-A)

WHEN ARE TUiTiON ANd FEES dUE?Your tuition and fees are due before the start of the semester. Additional fees will be assessed on late payments. If you are receiving financial aid, you will need to have all paperwork completed prior to the start of the semester to avoid late fees. Tuition deadlines can be found at cashiering.unlv.edu. Failure to pay your tuition by the deadline will result in a financial withdrawal from all courses.

TUiTiON pAYmENT pLANYou can pay your education expenses monthly by using our interest-free monthly payment option. This plan is available to all students. Information is available at cashiering.unlv.edu.

THE BiLL iS iN YOUR E-mAiL iNBOxYou will not receive a bill for your tuition in the mail. Log in to your MyUNLV account to view your current account balance at my.unlv.edu. Notification of your tuition and fees will be sent via e-mail to your Rebelmail account.

FiRST-YEAR STUdENT HOUSiNG REqUiREmENTAll first-time freshmen enrolled in six or more credits who graduated from high school outside of Clark County, Nevada, are required to live on campus during their freshman year. This requirement is meant to help you adjust to university life and give you the best access to the resources you need to be successful. Submit your application for priority consideration by May 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester for the best chance to get your room and/or floor preferences. ORiENTATiON and rEGIStratIon

ATTENd A UNLV ORiENTATiON SESSiONOrientation helps make your transition to the university easy and stress-free, providing all your final steps to become an official Rebel! At Orientation, you will:

• Learn about academic life, expectations, and integrity at UNLV

• Meet with an academic advisor to schedule your classes

• Register for classes online

• Meet new and returning UNLV students

• Learn about the financial aid process and how to pay for your education

• Receive information on campus resources to help you be successful

• Learn about living on campus

• Get your RebelCard (student identification card) and set up your RebelCash account

• Tour campus and the residence halls

REGiSTER FOR ORiENTATiONTo register for Orientation, you will need to know your NSHE number and the school or college within UNLV to which you have been admitted. Undeclared students are admitted into the Academic Success Center. Select a date and register for an Orientation session at orientation.unlv.edu.

pARENTS HAVE ORiENTATiON TOO!Parents and guardians are invited to attend Orientation with their student and attend the special Parent Orientation program that UNLV has designed specifically for new students’ parents and guardians. They will learn about the various resources their students have available to them at UNLV, hear from current UNLV students and parents, enjoy a campus tour and even eat in the UNLV Dining Commons. Parent Orientation is only offered during the Fall Orientation sessions.

cAmpUS SERVicES IMPortant StudEnt aCCountS and PurChaSES

GET YOUR REBELcARdYour RebelCard is more than your UNLV ID card. It is your access card to many campus facilities, programs, and services including the residence halls, library, computer labs, athletic events, and special performances. Students are expected to carry their RebelCard at all times. You can get your RebelCard at Orientation by bringing a state-issued photo identification card. Visit rebelcard.com for more information.

Important: The RebelCard is an official form of identification. If your card is lost or stolen, please report the loss immediately to the RebelCard Office to protect against identity theft.

REBELcASHWith RebelCash, you will not have to worry about carrying money on campus. Deposit money on your RebelCard and use it to pay for books, food, printing in the computer labs, and at participating retailers near UNLV. To activate your RebelCash account, just add money to your card either at the RebelCard office or online at rebelcard.com.

UNLV students have free access to e-mail, computer labs, materials for online classes on WebCampus, and wireless Internet. Network file storage, free and discounted software, computer support, and webpage publishing are also available. You can set up your accounts after you have your RebelCard. To set up your computing account, take your RebelCard to a computer lab or the Student Computing Help Desk. For more information, go to oit.unlv.edu/students.

pURcHASE YOUR pARkiNG pERmiTParking in any lot on campus, except Lot S on Harmon Avenue and Swenson Street, requires a parking permit. Parking is enforced 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Handicapped and reserved parking is enforced 24 hours a day. Parking permits for the next academic year are available one month prior to the start of the semester and may be purchased conveniently online at parking.unlv.edu.

pURcHASE YOUR TExTBOOkSThe easiest way to get the books you need is purchasing them online through the UNLV Bookstore at unlv.bncollege.com. Once you have registered for classes, submit your course number and section to the bookstore. You can request either new or used textbooks if available. Books can be shipped to your home, or you can go to the UNLV Bookstore to pick up your order.

the rebel Connection Weeks of Welcome is designed to welcome both incoming and returning students to an academic semester at UNLV. Events including socials, mixers, presentations, lectures, job and major fairs, traditions (including Premier UNLV), information booths, and academic information sessions are coordinated to help welcome you to the UNLV community. pREmiER UNLVPremier UNLV is an annual tradition where thousands of students – new and returning – gather on the field holding glow sticks to form the letters UNLV for annual photographs. The evening ends with a bang, literally, with fireworks choreographed to the UNLV fight song. Enjoy live entertainment, a barbecue dinner and get your limited-edition UNLV fight song T-shirt!
