New Southgate Cemetery and Crematorium are proud to offer this selection of superbly designed and crafted memorials.

Designs can be altered to meet your individual needs. Features from one design can often be incorporated in another.

Materials and Brief Description

Italian marble from the Appenine mountains of Carrara, North West Italy, is the classical material for memorialisation. It can be supplied either in White or Dove Grey.

High quality granites from all parts of the globe. These are extremely hardwearing and will accept a high polish. Because of the large diversity of colours on offer, not all can be stocked.

An extension to delivery times should be expected on some colours.

Designs can be altered to meet your individual needs.

Marble. A hand carved angel sitting over a hand sculptured shaped book.  The base has a hole in each corner for a flower container.

All our marble headstones are made from fine Italian white marble. The white and light-grey colours of marble help create gravestones

that look peaceful & serene. Its long-lasting but relatively soft quality allows it to be delicately carved by hand.

Marble is a softer stone than granite and is therefore ideal for sculpture and carving. It should be noted that marble is porous and will weather over time causing the white appearance to age. This is a natural process which can be slowed down by regular cleaning.

Granite is a material that is renowned for its hardiness and is virtually everlasting. It’s easy to see why it has long been a popular choice for memorial gravestones.

NS49 All Polished Black Granite. A shaped memorial with barley twist columns which historically date back to the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem and signify wisdom.  The kerbs match the columns and there are two corner posts at the foot end of the memorial.

NS50 Avon Grey Granite.  A gothic style headstone.   The matching chamfers on both headstone and kerbs give a traditional feel to this kerb memorial.  There are two posts with a hole for a flower container at the foot end of the memorial.

A memorial is the commemoration of a person’s life, it is the most challenging dedication to create. The memorials in this brochure are designed to meet the needs of most people but we realise they won’t meet everybody’s. The colour chart below provides an indication of the colour and shading of the various granite, natural stones and granite chipping infill’s available. It is important to note that the samples shown below are a guide only. All materials used are of the highest quality but being a natural material each one is unique and will differ slightly in colour and shade. Please speak to one of our advisors for any assistance you might need.

The content of inscriptions is very personal. Memorials should celebrate and honour life. We have provided some examples of styles, language and fonts to help you choose a fitting inscription. We can provide a large selection of inscription fonts and colours to choose from.

Renovations Memorial GuaranteeOver time the traditional porous materials used for memorials can be

effected by the weather. The once beautiful stone can become stained and dirty, the inscription worn and illegible. In our hands we can restore this to its

former glory.

We guarantee that all memorials supplied will be of good workmanship and sound materials.

By carefully and sympathetically cleaning the memorial stone, re-gilding the lettering and refixing it using modern anchoring techniques, we can reinstate it close to its original condition. There are rare occasions where the memorial is in such a poor state of repair that it will prove too expensive to renovate. In this case we will offer guidance on the alternatives available.

Please contact us for a free, no-obligation quote. We can usually provide this from photographs.

New Southgate Cemetery and Crematorium Ltd guarantees subject to the conditions stated below, that should any memorial supplied by the said firm prove to be faulty with regards to material within 50 years of the memorial being fixed in the cemetery, the memorial will be made good or, if this is not possible, replace without any expense to the purchaser.

Conditions

1. As natural materials vary from time to time in colour and texture this

Guarantee relates only to the type and soundness of the material and

not to its colour or texture.

2. This Guarantee shall not apply to any painting or gilding on the

memorial or to engravings infilled with lead. It should be noted that lead

lettering is normally a more long-lasting form of inscription although

this will depend on the position of the grave and the level of maintenance.

3. This Guarantee shall not apply to any damage caused by a third party,

and shall become invalid if the memorial is removed or disturbed or

otherwise worked upon by anyone other than the Seller.

4. This Guarantee applies only where an order clearly stating the type of

material, the finish of the memorial and the full text of the inscription

has been signed by the Purchaser and received by the Seller.

5. This Guarantee will not apply to damage to candle boxes where it has

been caused by excessive heat from oil lamps, candles or other

burning objects.

6. All new memorials will be levelled once, without charge, up to the first

two years following the date of completion of the order.

This Guarantee is in addition to, and not in lieu of, any statutory or common law rights vested

in the purchaser.
