Seahorse Tales Woolgoolga Public School TERM 2 ISSUE 4 21 st May 2020 Getting the Gang Back Together Schools are safe and open for full-time face-to-face learning. Health advice is that students do not need to follow the same social distancing restrictions as adults, but should follow good hygiene practices like: regularly washing hands avoiding sharing food and drinks bringing their own water bottle coughing or sneezing into elbows and discarding tissues maintaining distance from others where possible. From Monday 25 th May, all students should be at school unless they are currently unwell or have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition. What we can do: use the school library and canteen engage in non-contact sports activities use school playgrounds What we can’t do: school assemblies school camps and excursions inter-school activities in-school activities requiring parent or other volunteers use water bubblers conduct parent meetings on-site. Enhanced school cleaning will continue, including cleaning of toilets and high-touch surfaces during the school day. School staff should be the only adults on site. Parents are asked not to enter the school site other than for essential visits to the school office and are asked to drop-off and pick-up their children from outside the school gate and practise social distancing in the vicinity of the school. We understand that these are quite draconian measures, but they are in line with current government mandates and necessary to ensure the safety of our students, staff and community. We look forward to returning to a sense of normality with all students on-site from Monday.

Getting the Gang Back Together

Schools are safe and open for full-time face-to-face learning.

Health advice is that students do not need to follow the same social distancing

restrictions as adults, but should follow good hygiene practices like:

regularly washing hands

avoiding sharing food and drinks

bringing their own water bottle

coughing or sneezing into elbows and discarding tissues

maintaining distance from others where possible.

From Monday 25th May, all students should be at school unless they are currently

unwell or have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to

school due to an ongoing medical condition.

What we can do:

use the school library and canteen

engage in non-contact sports activities

use school playgrounds

What we can’t do:

school assemblies

school camps and excursions

inter-school activities

in-school activities requiring parent or other volunteers

use water bubblers

conduct parent meetings on-site.

Enhanced school cleaning will continue, including cleaning of toilets and high-touch

surfaces during the school day. School staff should be the only adults on site.

Parents are asked not to enter the school site other than for essential visits to the

school office and are asked to drop-off and pick-up their children from outside the

school gate and practise social distancing in the vicinity of the school. We

understand that these are quite draconian measures, but they are in line with current

government mandates and necessary to ensure the safety of our students, staff and

community.

We look forward to returning to a sense of normality with all students on-site from

Monday.
