#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

After commemorating ANZAC Day, the Stallions will be looking at getting back

to business with victory against Rockdale City Suns FC. Peter Tsekenis’ side celebrated a huge win over Blacktown City FC who are currently 4th on the ladder, 5 spots ahead of the Stallions. Marconi will be focused on advancing up the ladder with a win over 10th place Rockdale City Suns FC and closing the gap from the League Leaders. Rockdale City

Suns FC are coming off two consecutive draws against tough opponents Manly united FC and Sydney Olympic FC and will no doubt be on their best game knowing Marconi will not want to walk away with anything less than 3 points.

You can count on these two clubs to put on a show with some high quality football coming our way.

NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

Marconi Stallions will be out to make it back to back wins when they host Rockdale City

Suns at Marconi Stadium on Saturday.

A hard-fought 1-0 win against competition heavyweight Blacktown City in Round 7 was a great result after a dogged performance from the Peter Tsekenis coached side.

This week they take on Rockdale and have the chance to build some momentum through the middle stages of the season.

While pacy winger James Andrew scored the match winner last week, it was veteran central defender Michael Beauchamp who was Marconi’s best.

He will once again be tasked with marshalling the Stallions against a dangerous Rockdale attack alongside Peter Pelekanos.

Rockdale fought back from 2-0 down to snatch a 2-2 draw with Sydney Olympic last round and showed glimpses of their quality when they are at their best.

Consistency has been the problem for Rockdale this season but one thing which hasn’t been lacking is the form of winger Alec Urosevski.

He has been Rockdale’s best all campaign and will be a key contributor if they are to win.

Rockdale has the firepower to control the game but if they continue their trend of being able to only bring their best for 45 minutes a match then Marconi have a great opportunity for victory.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSBlacktown City FC 0 – Marconi Stallions FC 1 at Lily Homes Stadium

Former Blacktown City fan favourite James Andrew has stung his former side after guiding a 10-man Marconi Stallions to a shock 1-0 upset at Lily Homes Stadium on Saturday.

The former Blacktown attacker arrived as a half time substitute for Mateo Poljak and put the visitors ahead with a lovely finish ten minutes after the interval to help snap a five-match winless run for the Stallions.

Andrew netted 11 league goals for Blacktown last campaign but proved to the bane for Crittenden’s men on the occasion, who slumped to their second defeat in as many weeks.

While it might not set alarm bells ringing in Seven Hills, the manner of defeat will particularly sting for the hosts who were unable to score in consecutive matches and were dealt a lesson in pragmatism by Peter Tsekenis’ visitors.

Sydney Olympic FC 2 – Rockdale City Suns FC 2 at Belmore Sports Ground

An incredible second half fightback has helped Rockdale City Suns snatch a 2-2 draw with Sydney Olympic at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday.

Olympic had the chance to move three points clear at the top of the ladder at the end of Round 7 after APIA Leichhardt’s draw on Saturday.

The Blues looked to be making the most of the opportunity as they went into the halftime break up 2-0 thanks to Max Burgess and Alejandro Sanchez.

Yet a spirited fightback from the visitors saw Olympic clinging on for a point at the final whistle, as Jordan Figon and Alec Urosevski drew Rockdale level before pushing for a win.

#NPLNSWFFA CUP UPDATEBIG MATCHES SCHEDULED FOR ROUND 5

Forty NSW teams have found out their FFA Cup fate as round 5 of the prestigious draw

was announced on Friday at Football NSW’s headquarters.

Led by Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge as well as Local FC and former Sydney United and Marconi Stallions star Chad Gibson, the duo had the task of drawing out each of the forty teams schedules with matches set to take shape either on the 2nd and 9th of May.

As many as thirteen Football NSW Association clubs from across the state including four Football South Coast Association teams (Albion Park White Eagles, Tarrawanna Blueys SC, Bulli FC, Wollongong Olympic), three Central Coast Football Association teams (Terrigal United, Berkeley Vale SC, Killarney District SC) as well as sole representatives from the Eastern Suburbs (Maroubra United), Gladesville-Hornsby (Gladesville Ravens), Sutherland Shire (Kirrawee Kangaroos FC), Manly (Belrose Terrey Hills Raiders SC), Football Wagga Wagga (Henwood Park FC) and Shoalhaven Association (Bomaderry SC) are all still in contention of a place in round 6 of the Preliminary round draw.

A few exciting clashes have been announced with two all NPL NSW Men’s affairs taking shape, one at Seymour Shaw as the Sutherland Sharks take on Hakoah Sydney City East while at Cromer Park a massive encounter will feature 2017 Champions Manly United tackle red-hot Blacktown City who in recent seasons, have had fantastic runs in the FFA Cup Round of 32 and beyond.

It will be a tough task but Football Wagga Wagga’s Henwood Park FC will travel to Edensor Park where they will face NPL NSW Men’s outfit Sydney United 58 while Gladesville-Hornsby FA’s Gladesville Ravens will travel to Sydney West where they will battle NPL NSW Men’s side Marconi Stallions.

An all association affair will however dominate the headlines as Shoalhaven’s Bomaderry SC will host Central Coast Football’s Killarney District SC while giantkillers Kirrawee Kangaroos from the Sutherland Shire FA who recently knocked out State League Men’s side Nepean FC, will hope they can inflict the same pain on the Balmain Tigers FC.

11

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEWMarconi Stallions are aiming to set the

record straight when they host Rockdale City Suns at Marconi Stadium this Saturday night.

After heavy defeats to Blacktown City and Hakoah Sydney City East the Stallions have slipped out of the top five and despite performing well throughout the season will need to start getting the results performances have demanded.

The Stallions will be most concerned by their inability to finish chances – they’ve recorded just eight so far but efforts from Anthony Vastag and Michael Jeffrey against a normally watertight Blacktown last Saturday should boost confidence ahead of this weekend.

Rockdale head into the fixture on the back of two 1-1 draws against Manly United and Sydney Olympic. The City Suns are currently tenth on the table having won the single match so far this season but a victory over Marconi would see the visitors leapfrog their opponents on the table. Dimitrios Petratos has been the central goalscoring threat for Rockdale with two goals to his name.
