A most unusual concert will take place in aid of
the recent drive for funds for New Ross
Community Hospital– an invaluable asset to this
area which needs all the supports it can get. New
Ross Singers are joining with a local rock band to
present an evening of classic popular songs from
the 70s and 80s. The choir are well known locally,
having recently performed The Armed Man and
Haydn’s Creation. This is a change of repertoire
which they have greatly enjoyed learning. The
band are The Nomads. They include such
personalities as Sean Connick, Arthur O’ Sullivan,
Dermot Kehoe, Tomas Kavanagh, David O’ Brien
and other well known locals. The concert will be
in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola, on
Tuesday, June 11th at 8pm. Tickets for this
worthy cause are €15, and available from choir

Reflection for weekend 1st & 2nd
June
Fact 12: ....and life everlasting. God wants me to be
with Him. There is a place for me in heaven. With
God there is everlasting joy. People who are very
happy, often say: I feel like I’m in seventh
heaven. Some people, however, never get to
experience this foretaste of heaven because they
have such a hard time on earth. Heaven, however,
does exist. A heaven, of which God promises: “I will
wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no
more death, and no more mourning or sadness.” Rv
21:4. Nobody can say: this or that person is going to
hell. God’s mercy is unlimited. He wants everyone to
go to heaven. In addition to that, the Church is
convinced of one thing: when people die and want to
be with God, there is often still an obstacle to face:
something torments them still, something they are
thoroughly ashamed of. God then gives them a
chance to free themselves from it. We say they are in
purgatory. We shall help them by praying for
them. “Purgatory is like the burning pain we feel when
we remember how we once let down a beloved
person. Our big encounter with Christ could be very
similar to that. However, in the pain of this encoun-
ter, when the impurity and sickness of our lives be-
come evident to us, there lies salvation. His gaze, the
touch of His heart heals us through an undeniably
painful transformation, as through fire.” Pope Bene-
dict XVI. Finally from C.S. Lewis: “Your place in heaven
will seem to be made for you and you alone, because
you were made for it.”
