Reliable component feeding is a critically important function in any placement machine. Applying over a decade of
experience, our engineers have designed the electronic tape feeders with reliability as a top priority. Incorporating

4.1.5.4. Cover Tape Disposal
The cover tape is disposed together with the carrier tape. No interaction from
the operator needed when mounting the reel onto the feeder. A minimum of
only 2 inches of cover tape is required to shape-in the cover tape into the
disposal mechanism.
4.1.5.5. Programmable Pitch
When a reel is loaded onto the feeder, the according component is linked with the reel type and therefore the pitch is
set automatically. This is the key for fast and save setup process.
4.1.5.6. Eliminate Kitting Errors
When a component reel is loaded onto a feeder, the reel ID number is entered or bar coded into the data base. When
the feeder is mounted on the machine, its component I.D. is recognized. Thus the machine knows what location the
component is at on the feeder bank, thereby eliminating any possibility of picking the wrong component. This
feature also quickens set up time because feeders can be placed anywhere on the feeder banks. The machine
recognizes their locations and adjusts the pick program accordingly.

4.1.6. CLM950-CLM958: Tape Feeder Cassette
4.1.6.1. Description
Feeder cassettes offer the largest possible feeder capacity because only in that way they can build very narrow. The
cassette feeders are motorized and programmable;
For each feeding lane, the pitch can be programmed in the software, no mechanical change is necessary. For irregular
pitches, the feeder makes a standard pitch and the machine picks from intermediate positions as well.

4.1.6.2. Upgrade of Existing Feeder Cassettes
The old CLM/FLX Feeder (only LED type) must be upgraded to make it compatible to the new platforms. After the
upgrade with Essemtec Article SERV-PFFU the feeders can be still used on the old platform CLM/FLX. For every
feeder cassette one on these SERV-PFU is required.
4.1.6.3. Ordering Guide
Different cassette configurations are available. Each configuration is given and cannot be changed (e.g. CLM952-LED
includes 3x12mm and 3x16 mm feeder). Use the “Pick&Place Configurator” (Excel) for feeder selection.

4.1.12. PC-LFPOD: Label feeder / print on demand
4.1.12.1. PC-LFPOD-B: Adapter for POD feeder
With the POD label feeder PC-LFPOD it’s possible to mark PCBs with any customized label directly during the pick
and place process. Print any information on the label directly with the integrated printer on the feeder and place it on
the machine like any other SMD component.
POD label feeders are mounted into an adapter (PC-LFPOD-B) to put on hyQ feederracks and get automatically
identified by the machine wherever installed.
Due to the length of this feeder (800mm) it’s not possible to put the POD label feeder on a side rack without 1000mm
free space next to the machine. So most likely if the machine is inline, the POD label feeder can only be positioned on
front or back racks of the machine.
Please take note that the adapter PC-LFPOD-B is only available on request and it’s not possible to use the POD
feeder on the machine without this adapter.
