ASK KIMBERLEY

24/7 FASHION HEAVEN AT NEWLOOK.COM

FashionFashionGemGem

I need a jacket that will work with everything. What style is best? FATIMA, KUWAIT

Am I the only girl who can’t seem to fi nd shoes that don’t pinch my toes? Help! RANA, BAHRAIN

I’m skint at the moment but I need a fab party dress! Any suggestions? LAURA, DUBAI

My male friend has zero interest in fashion. What’s a quick way of styling him up? POOJA, ABU DHABI

KIMBERLEY SAYS: Hey, you’re asking the

right girl, Laura!

I’m a big fan of all

the gorgeous body-con

styles that are about

right now. If you’ve

got some curves going

on you couldn’t do

better than this

glittery, petrol-blue

dress. I love its

heart-shaped neckline

and the way all those

sequins catch the

light. It’s certainly

got wow-factor – and

at £35, I think it’s

worth every penny.

KIMBERLEY SAYS: Well I’d probably try and get him

to focus on one stylish

detail. That’s a bit less

traumatic than going for

a complete overhaul – and

it’ll make him feel more

confident about smartening

up his look. This funky

scarf, for instance, will

jazz up his T-shirts and

jeans. Just tell him it’s

to keep his neck warm.

KIMBERLEY SAYS: I reckon this blazer

fits the bill. The

stripes are super

flattering and I

love the nipped-in

tailoring – just

what you need to

look smart, but in

a cool, unfussy way.

It looks kind of

80s-inspired – and

that’s definitely a

hot look right now.

KIMBERLEY SAYS: You’re really not alone Mel. You’d be

surprised at how

many girls find

it hard to get

a comfortable

fitting shoe!

But never fear,

I hear New Look

boast a super

stylish wide-fit

range – with many

styles going up to a

size 9. So no more

torturing your tootsies!

WE VE GOT OUR

FOOT FETISHTHE SHOE OF THE FUTURE is already here. Taking its

cue from the futuristic trend on the catwalks, this snakeskin stunner is pretty much everything the

shoe-obsessed dream of. Like summer’s gladiators given a massive glamour injection, the metallic

platform heel elevates these into the fashion stratosphere. The laced up

shoe boot is just the thing to go with this season’s

glam-rock gear, as demonstrated by the

ever-edgy Gwen Stefani.

GET VICTORIA’S LOOK

#1 FANSEmily and Liz from Dubai are huge

Victoria Beckham fans. They went to New Look to recreate her high-fash style

LIZ: “She’s famous for her ‘I-mean-business’ heels, but they’re a killer for shopping! At least I can walk in these.”

EMILY: “It’s all about class with a capital ‘C’ for Vicky B! She’s always wearing a stunning watch – and this one says VIP to me.”

LIZ: “Black is one of Victoria’s favourite colours, but she likes extra touches too like the cute bow on this top – and so do I!”

EMILY: “Bigger is better when it comes to Victoria’s taste in handbags. I’m nabbing this shiny, patent and quilted one. It’s just so gorgeous.”

EMILY: “Victoria’s shoulder pads are a bit OTT, but I get the whole BIG shoulders thing now. This New Look jacket nails the 80s look for me.”

EMILY: “The thing I love about Victoria’s style most is that she’s so on it when it comes to trends. That acid wash looks wicked on her.”

LIZ: “Victoria never goes mad with her accessories. She’ll choose just one or two bold pieces, like these earrings, and let them do all the talking.”

GETT

AGES

You’ve got to hand it to Victoria

Beckham for sheer staying power. The

celeb fashion icon of her generation,

VB took a leaf out of Audrey Hepburn’s

little black book and never looked

back. Since moving stateside she’s

gone from WAGs to riches – and today

she’s a one woman almanac of global

fashion fads. Back in the day, they

labelled her Posh ’cos it was oh-so

funny. Now who’s pouting?

colour from Cheryl’s cute duffl e coat.

Of course underneath, she’s pure rock chick

Mark Ronson“This guy does the cool-geek thing brilliantly and his laid-back, layered look is so now. It’s all about the double-breasted coat for winter and this 50s-style is a classic. Grey is big news too – it looks faded in a rock ’n’ roll way without looking scruffy. Wear with a smart shoe... neckerchief optional.”

Kylie Minogue“I love Kylie’s style tip of accessorising

KIMBERLEY FROM

See Kimberley’s full interview on New Look’s Facebook page

DHS165KD13.500BD17.000SR165L.E315

IT HAS TO BE SAID that Kimberley Walsh, the curvylicious one from

Girls Aloud, has got it all going

on. From tight tees to stretch

denim, clothes seem to curve all

over her and everything from top

to toe looks just peachy. So who

better to show off New Look’s

brilliant new denim range?

In the studio, she’s a dab hand

at throwing shapes for the camera

– and with her glorious locks,

honey complexion and electric

pout she’s the closest thing

to starlet perfection since Jessica

Rabbit. All that and she can sing

and dance too. What’s not to like?

Who are your style heroines?

“I look to people like J.Lo

or Beyoncé as they’ve got

some curves going on. They

manage to look sexy without

being too overt. I kind of

think ‘Oh, that looks good

on them – let me try it!’”

What makes an outfit rock?

“I do like big heels, they

do wonders for me. But I can

Are you a big denim fan?

“I love denim! At the moment I’m

quite into denim shirt dresss and

I like faded denim jackets too.”

What style jeans suit you best?

“With jeans it’s a case of trial

and error. I try to dress for my

shape so I like quite straight-

legged jeans, not too skinny.

Or a wide leg is good if I feel

like a different vibe. I look

for things that fit me well. You

know, show off the right places.”

Do you dress jeans up or down?

“Both, that’s the beauty of

demim. I wear skinnier jeans at

night with really high heels and

maybe something a bit spangly.

And for day I go for looser fits

which are more comfortable.”

Do you coordinate your look?

“I know people say it’s kind

of cool to clash, but I do like

things to match. I draw the line

at shoes, bag and belt though –

that’s a little bit too much!”

Do you have a New Look fashion

gem in your wardrobe?

“Do you know what, I can remember

buying a faded denim jacket, like

over ten years ago. I could have

whipped that out again right now

if only I’d have kept it!”

Skinny jeans, DHS/SR125, KD10.000, BD13.000, L.E275

The shape of thingsIt’s tight, form fi tting and born out of 80s punk. The original “spray-on”jeans – but stretchy, so easier toget on than way back then. What it will do for youGive you street cred, ‘cos all therock chicks wear them. They’ll show off your shape, too.Because it worked for…No guesses here – Kate Moss made skinnies go meteoric.

Low w hih p jeans, DDDHS/SR1225,KD100.000, BD1333.0.000, L.EE275

The shape of thingsIt’s a relaxed cut, sitting low and hugging the hips – a throwbackto the hippy styles of the 60s.What it will do for youShow off your curves! The low waist will enhance your behind and works with the bootcut to make thighs look slimmer. Hooray!Because it worked for…Beyoncé, whose low-riding styles were too bootylicious.

Skinny fl are jeans, DHS/SR125,KD10.000, BD13.000, L.E275

The shape of thingsTwo cuts combine to make thishero of a hybrid – a skinny top half with a bootcut fl are – a modern take on the 70s style. What it will do for youMake your legs look ludicrously long and give you an elegant silhouette. If you’ve steered clear of denim before, give these a try.Because it worked for…Victoria Beckham when she needed to up her fashion credentials.

Shop ‘til you drop at City Stars

Abou El SidThere’s lots of choice in Cairo when you’re hungry but if you like to eat what the locals do, visit the gem that is Abou El Sid. The setting is gorgeous with big cushions and hanging lamps all around and the food is really delicious! My favourites are the stuffed sausages and the traditional koshari. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, try the stuffed pigeon. abouelsid.com

Sharm el-SheikhThis seaside resort just a short fl ight away from Cairo is where it’s at! There’s so much going on you’ll be spoilt for choice. Shopping, entertainment, restaurants, discos, desert safaris, water sports… The highlight for me is the scuba diving – you see the most dazzling shoals of tropical fi sh! Move over David Attenborough and pass me the underwater camera… sharmguide.com

City Stars MallIf you fancy taking a break from the local culture and having some retail therapy, you need to head to City Stars.
