COLOR CODE Each implant platform diam-

eter has a color code, which can be found

on all implant packs (with the exception of

SPI®DIRECT), on the impression items and

on most diameter-specific instruments.

Yellow = platform B 3.5 mm

Green = platform B 4.0 mm

Blue = platform B 4.5 mm

Grey = platform B 5.0 mm

Violet = platform B 6.0 mm

RESPONSIBILITY/LIABILITY As part of an overall scheme, Thommen

implants may be used only with the ori ginal components and

instruments in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

The use of unapproved components from other systems can cause

malfunctioning of the implants and abutments and lead to implant

failure. The use of the product is the responsibility of the user and,

as such, beyond the control of Thommen Medical AG. We refuse to

accept any responsibility or liability for any damage due to incorrect

utilization of the product.

GuARANTEE OF STERILITY OF STERILE PRODuCTS Products

of the Thommen Implant System supplied in sterile packaging must

not be resterilized. If the sterile packaging is damaged during trans-

port or storage, the product must not be used. Products that have

been opened and have not been immediately used for the intended

operation must not be used thereafter. After resterilization, the

safety, function and efficacy of the product cannot be guaranteed

by the manufacturer.

STORAGE Plastic parts must be stored at room temperature and

protected from exposure to strong light or high heat.

INSTRuCTIONS FOR uSE The following information is not in-

tended as comprehensive for the Thommen Implant System. New

customers are advised to undergo training by a specialist experi-

enced in the use of this system.

VALIDITY This product catalogue replaces all previous editions.

ELEMENT implants are now available in platform B 6.0 mm. Additionally,

an implant length of 6.5 mm has been added for ELEMENT platforms

B 4.0 mm, 4.5 mm, 5.0 mm and the new platform B 6.0 mm. These new

sizes create additional treatment options to improve flexibility and ease

of use.

vertical bone height or difficult nerve anatomy

· Bone augmentation procedures may be simplified

or eliminated to improve predictability and reduce

treatment time

ELEMENT for esthetic indications

ELEMENT implant are ideal for esthetically demanding anterior cases

where maximum flexibility in implant placement depth is required. The

1.0 mm implant collar may be placed supra- or subcrestally, as determined

by bone and soft tissue levels, in order to obtain a subgingival margin and

highly esthetic final result.

The new ELEMENT implant sizes offer added flexibility for posterior cases

as well, with the new platform B 6.0 mm being ideal for larger molar

restorations, and the new 6.5 mm length particularly suited to cases with

limited vertical bone height and/or close proximity to the mandibular

nerve.

ELEMENT platform B 6.0 mm completes the line of ELEMENT implants

for all available platform sizes of the Thommen Implant System.

Previous size SPI®VECTOdrills™ and thread taps have been revised to in-

clude a new mark for length 6.5 mm and feature distinctive narrow widths

for the 11.0 mm and 6.5 mm depth marks to make it easier to identify

both the mark and the position of the drill.

New size VECTOdrills™ and thread taps (B 5.3 mm) for ELEMENT plat-

form B 6.0 mm also use the same depth marks as described above.

Reading the new depth marks:

· Broad depth marks are read on both the lower and upper edge (for

example, 8.0 mm and 9.5 mm).

· Narrow depth marks are read only on the lower edge (for example,

11.0 mm); the upper edge is not used.

Previous size depth gauges have been revised to include an additional

groove and depth indication for length 6.5 mm. A new depth gauge

(B 5.3 mm) for ELEMENT platform B 6.0 mm also uses this design.

The diagram on the left shows the new depth marks and the corre-

sponding depths. The distance to the individual drilling depths is unchan-

ged at 1.5 mm per mark.

Important

The use of existing instruments bearing the previous depth marks is per-

missible only with implants from length 8.0 mm. New instruments with

revised depth marks must be used for length 6.5 mm implants. Simulta-

neous use of previous and new instruments is not recommended as this

may cause errors.

Revised ELEMENT profile drills

To accommodate length 6.5 mm implants, the design of the ELEMENT

profile drill has been revised: the guiding tip of the drill has been short-

ened by 1.0 mm, and the length of the shaft extended by 1.0 mm (meaning

the same overall length). The depth mark is unchanged.

Only new ELEMENT profile drills may be used with length 6.5 mm

im plants.

The corresponding instruments are shown individually on the following

pages.

Availability

New ELEMENT implant sizes and corresponding instruments/abutments

will be launched in three phases.

Phase 1

January 2010:

· ELEMENT platform B 6.0 mm, with lengths from 6.5 mm to 12.5 mm

· ELEMENT length 6.5 mm, platforms B 4.0 mm, 4.5 mm and 5.0 mm

· All new and modified surgical instruments for length 6.5 mm and plat-

form B 6.0 mm with the exception of items noted in Phase 2 and 3

· X-ray templates

Phase 2

February 2010:

· EASY long abutments, sets for platform B 6.0 mm

· Surgical cassette insert

Mid-2010:

· EASY SELECTION abutments for platform B 6.0 mm

· VECTOdrill™ ceramic twist drills

Careful case design is crucial for the successful outcome of any implant-based resto-

ration.

The corresponding X-ray reference sphere for preoperative planning of ELEMENT

implants of platform B 6.0 mm can be ordered using the article number Fo_20d152.

ELEMENT implants of length 6.5 mm are already integrated in the existing X-ray refer-

ence spheres and can be ordered using article number Fo_20d132.

All existing platform B 6.0 mm prosthetics are suitable for use with ELEMENT platform

6.0 mm implants. The SPI®EASY range has been expanded to include long versions of

individual abutments, abutment sets, and SPI®SELECTION abutments.

For information regarding the use of EASY abutments, please refer to the respective

brochure (Fo_02d081).

As reference to the new ELEMENT implant length of 6.5 mm, yellow labels have been

attached to the corresponding product packages of instruments and implants.
