LONG LAKE CAMP served campers from 7 to 10 years of age, who were housed and organized in six divisions. The program for this camp dealt with making a happy introduction to camping and to independent living away from the familiar home environment.

Solomon Division Assemble. That was the call to many exciting major divisionals - Monster Night, Superhers Night, and Pirate Night, where our D.H. was thrown in the lake. S1eepouts at the Golf Course and Cornfield were great, as was our day at Prompton State Park. How could we ever forget our theme, Happiness, Collecting,Snoopy signs the Beatles in the talent show, the Watermelon League, Ice Cream Hikes and most of all, the good friends we made.

Once upon a time b3 boys and 12 counselors decided to go to camp for the month of August. At camp they found that there were lots of good things to do. They went on sleep-outs, cookouts, and special visits. Fed Trout at a Fish Hatchery and when it rained, had a picnic on a bus and toasted marshmallows!! Every Saturday night everybody got together and had a really good time. Some Saturdays they got dressed up as cowboys and indians. One Saturday they were invited to the grand opening of the Solo-men Club, where they played games, danced and sang till the early hours. (Well - 9 o'clock!) Like everything else, all good things come to an end. The boys left camp after making lots of friends, all looking forward to Summer 1973. The end!!! (till next year).

"Were the men of Abe and our spirit is free and forever at Long Lake we'll be..... "And so goes the divisional song of the greatest division in Long Lake camp. The words of this first sentence in the song symbolizes Abraham division. "Spirit" symbolizes the enthusiasm we have had during July. Our songs and cheers let everyone know who we are and the good time we are having. Excitement is the work for describing our four major divisionals this half. We had game-o-rama, with its added flavor of competition and enjoyment. Gangster night, with its air of nostalgia and mystery in it as the campers went back to a time of mobs and prohibition. Settlers night, which included a divisional sleep-out in which the men of Abe stated claim on living species and chivalry night with all its romance and heraldry of those days of yore. Yes, the men of Abe had an exciting July. The watermelon league which involved four bunks in soccer competition, it really proved inviting to them. And how can they forget that trip to Ghost Town with all the rides and games. Yet still, the activities we participated in, like pioneering, nature, arts S crafts, music and dance, really put the icing on the cake. Men of Abe, more power to you & forever at Long Lake may you be. Abie! Abie! Abie! Abe! Abe! Abe!

Even Augustus Caesar, for whom August was named for, would be proud of what Abraham division did this month. With new additions, the proud "men of Abe" continued to carry on the ancient traditions of Abraham. As in July, Abraham continued to show its enthusiasm and spirit in their activities. Our major divisionals continue to show the inventiveness and creativity in Abraham. We journeyed back before the dawn of history to caveman times for Flintstone Night. Ugh! Ugh! "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men. The Shadow knows!"Mystery! Intrigue! Who done it? Why?, when?, how? These are the questions the detectives of Abraham had to solve on Mystery Night. Was it Fred Black? Or was it Dr. Drange?Maybe someone else. The men of Abe found it all out of course. And we ventured to the lost city of Atlantis as the campers explored the far edges of the lake looking for that lost city. From Atlantis, we crossed over to merry old England for London Street. Night Chireeo! And who can forget those trips. Promton Park, our all day trip, the ice cream hikes and overnights. "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. Rah, rah, rah!" "The men of Abe surely had ice cream this month. In fact, they made it themselves. What a division!Everyone knows us! "Isy, Iky, Jakie, Sam. We're the men of Abraham..." And our spirit is LONGtruely "free" . Live on men of Abe! LAKE

July was a terrific month in Sarahl Remember Topsy-turvy Day- - we did everything backwards. And T.V. night - - boy, did we know alot about T.V. shows. Oh, how we drank at the fashion show and cocktail party. Our long hike for ice cream certainly was worth it. On International Night we travelled all over the world, and ate many different kinds of food. Our two trips out of camp to the fish hatchery and to see the play "Funny Girl" were great. And don't forget Camp-a-thon - - we worked our hardest and everyone of us got 125 pointsl What a way to end the monthl

We are the Sarah's!! We're really the best! And we sure proved it with the programs we had this month. Remember Ghost Town? We went on the roller coaster at least 5 times! !| We had a great time on peanut pal day. We gave and received so many nice presents. We loved shopping in Honesdale and what about birthday ball? All the season's performances were terrific. We went back to the 50's - the ice cream sundaes at Pop's were delicious and we did so much more. Unfortunately, August had to come to an end, but we'll always have good friends and good memories!!!

On June 30 we buried a time capsule containing our wishes for the summer. We wished for new friends, hikes, improving our swimming, playing sports, learning to shoot a bow and arrow, going on overnights, and just plain having fun. We did all of that and much more. We had a great time at the Fourth of July Day where we saw George Washington riding a horse and also released helium-filled balloons. We presented a great Oneg Shabbat on the life of Moses. We went on early morning eagle hikes and saw some pretty birds. We had fun at our overnights and cookouts. We went roller skating in camp. We collected money for charity through our camp- ethon. We went to Ghost Town. We participated in the TishaB'Av program. We had great major divisionals which included a tremendous Gold Rush and Casino night, an Olympics, a Pirate Night (remember Jim and Norm walking the plank?), and Star Trek Night (remember the great phasers we made). We had pre-breakfast jogging and polar bear clubs. We went to nature, arts and crafts, pioneering, Israeli music and dance, and athletics. We had a tremendous baseball, soccer and kickball leagues. We could play sports three times a day. The best things about camp were our friends and our counselors. We had a great time at Moses Men!

August was another action packed month for the Mighty Moses Men. We started out soaring with superhero night and flew straight into our first big week of activities with those early morning Eagle Hikes on the Delaware, Deer Hunts after dinner, and record-setting hikes up Sugar Loaf Mountain. Remember exploring for Indians' Caves and arrow heads on top? With week two came the Haifa Cafe, the Kibbutz, and the Arab Market of Israeli day. Also, our incredible Robin Hood Night with Robins hideout, the kings castle and that delicious beef stew dinner. Not to mention A & C, the soccer league, swimming, nature, and overnight campouts. Our super exciting trip to Ghost Town Amusement Park began the third week of August. Following that, we had our all camp Maccabea-Sports Day, a visit from Sasha the Mime and the fantastic Israel Scouts. Paul Bunion Night then capped off the week with those terrific games and tall tales on the golf course. And to finish up the summer, the incredible Sheppard's pie dinner and songs and games of British Pub Night, and our Round the LakeHike. Still have your hand made nails from the two hundred year old Ghost Town? All in all, a great month of fun, friends and super activities at Long Lake.

Asher distinguished itself this month by the outstanding behavior of its campers. We had our share of successful competition, highlighted by the all-star soccer team. We succeeded, because we always offered the campers a positive, not pessimistic view on all our activities. The greatest enjoyment, however, was at Ghost Town and in the Lake area, because of the luck we had with the weather. However, the main thing turned out to be, that many of the campers learned to live in acommunity life and a sense of unity developed and expanded. For that, we thank everyone involved, both kids and staff.

Asher division enjoyed a very enthusiastic month in August. The division took two field trips -one to see the Rock Musical "Godspell" and a second, to Promise Land State Park. There were manyother successful endeavors, including watermelon league, evening socials with Naomi division anda gong show. Our campers were a very highly spirited group, who will always treasure their memoirs of the summer of 'll.

The counselors here are really great They take care of you until your fate. From arts & crafts with tiles and grout....To Elaine screaming "Leah All Out."Running in athletics, not getting enough rest This summer has been the best. So, come back next summer, it just might be better And, remember to bring your flashlights, T-shirts and sweater!rning to live with other people, doing new s. We built campfires, went to activities, creative and dramatic talents, danced and sang, about ourselves.

This month in Leah division was lots of fun, as we all laughed and learned together. We saw plays, put on by both NJW and CLC. We also saw some special performances. Each of these took lots of patience & group effort. We had campfires, overnights, & cookouts. We even had our own special divisional cookout with great food, beef kebab, rice, salad and watermelon boat. You can't beat that! Division Aaron joined us in many joyous activities. We had everything possible from Halloween night to Scavenger Hunts to Relay Races. Of course, we will always remember our unfoi— gettable mass camp festivals like English Day and the outrageous Carnival, not to mention the Sussex County Fair. And just going for a hike to Charley's, as if we did not want the luscious penny candy. We learned plenty of things in lots of different activities. We went to swimming and athletics, not to mention the many things during bunk periods. We'll never forget our glorious Jack Tournaments. With love & care from our great counselors, our unity & enthusiasm led us to a beautiful summer of '77 under the sun. There are so many wonderful memories that will always put a smile on our faces. We were all once a part of Nah-Jee-Wah, but now Nah-Jee-Wah is a part of us! Now, it's time to say for the final time: "All out Leah!"

By raising our banner over the entrance of the division, we established ourselves as the number one division in camp. Our counselors provided excellent opportunities for campers to learn new skills like s°ccer, music, track and field and softball. July was a month of fun & excitement with an al1-day Olympics, a trip to Ghost Town, co-eds with Leah and Naomi, 50's Night, Hillbilly Night, Hobby Night, DoYot, Stokes and much, much more. A division song was established along with manynew tent names.^ July finally closed out with our divisional dinner-Ita1ian style. As the Dan song says, Dan Dan is the Best Clan, Winning Everything in Sight."

August proved Division Dan.

We will shine bright forever.

"Naomi - Our Bright Star" - Though it was a rainy day in August, Naomi was still shining bright. Greaser night with Asher and Pub night with Dan was just two of the many great coeds enjoyed by Naomi girls. We all had a terrific time on our special trips to "Godspell" and Promise Land. There were many special days in camp too, including, the carnival, crazy day and English day. Levi has been very colorful for the kids and counselors this month and hopefully for the camp too Levi this July was very good in sports and made two notable victories. The first against Dans all-star softball team (13~0) and the second, against CLC's Judah division (15-10) . On the activities side of things, the division won the "Gong Show", thanks to Bunk 15's great effort. Greaser Nite, Beatle Nite and Prom Nite seemed to be enjoyed by all and generally, Levi had a very good time at Camp Nah-Jee-Wah. Too bad a lot of Levi's were four weekers and left. I hope the next group of Levites will have just as much fun here at Camp Nah-Jee-Wah.

Nah-Jee-Wah started off the month the way things happened - going crazy on Crazy Day. Our main outing with our sister division Hannah, was to go to the Riviera Theatre to see Rollercoaster. The trio from Israel gave us a medley of Israeli and American songs and proved that certain themes cross not only the boundaries of land, but of peoples. The trip to Milford Reservation was cut short due to weather, but there was still time to show Pioneering skills learned at camp. On English Day, we were given a taste of foreign culture, among the events were speakers corner,Royal Ascott and we also learned to play cricket. This years carnival was out of THIS WORLD.Many people tried their luck at the different booths and whether winning or not, went away content. We had many socials with the girls from Hannah, but the last and most enjoyable was the Prom, which left us all with great memories of a great summer camp.

July was a big month for Hannah and everyone's enthusiasm made it even more so. We all enjoyed the trip to Ghost Town, our co-ed cookouts, and all our social activities. CEDAR LAKE CAMP served campers from 12 to 15 years of age who were distributed into eight divisions for program development. Continuation of development of skills in arts and crafts, athletics and water sports, and outdoor living was an objective along with greater attention to cultural interests and social values. Physical, intellectual and social challenges tried to meet the increasing personal potential of this age. Sensible boy-girl relationships were a natural part of camp.

The month of July was an exciting and memorable one for ail of us. Our "Greaser Night" social, with everyone dressed in bobby socks and ponytails (a few with greased-back hair and leather jackets) was a real success. Memorable was the hot evening when Miriam and Joseph bombarded each other with buckets of cold water on the infirmary lawn. Our out of camp trip to see "Fiddler On The Roof" gave everyone a chance to really dress up.That late evening was followed by a lazy breakfast in pajamas. Oh yes--our co-ed cook- out of beef stew was delicious and the atmosphere was calm and serene as the sun set upon Cedar Lake. All in all, we had a fun-filled and exciting month. We hope to see all of our friends back again next summerl

Miriam really had a lot of fun this month. Cookouts, Ghost Town, the Olympics and the Carnival were all great. Our co-eds with Joseph were all a blast! August for Miriam was a full and exciting month. "We are proud to say we're Miriam, You can put us to the test".

Joseph division in July was marked with good weather and new and exciting experiences. We all went on overnights and braved Tim Tyler. The canoe trips were also exciting. For our divisional service, we sang about the generation gap and learned to be kind to our parents. The lower camp show entertained us with a history of the 'Y ' Camps in a musical revue form. The Miriam girlswere something else-- we enjoyed their company at our major divisionals and also when we saw"Fiddler On The Roof". Most of all, we made new and memorable friendships and will always remember Joseph in July '77.

Division Joseph in August accomplished many things and had some really fun programs. The scavenger hunt and treasure hunt we had with Miriam were great co-eds; not to mention, Sadie Hawkins night.War canoe races made boating nights special, just like the All-Star team added something to Athletics. Who can forget the great Olympics and the trip to Ghost Town? Line-ups seemed endless, but, each one only meant another activity beginning. Even with all these activities, Joseph campers still found time to "hang out" in the pagodas and socialize. Yes, it was a month full of events.

HADASSAH

During the first half of the month, all the Hadassah girls and counselors were involved in either a canoe trip down the Delaware or an overnight at TAC Pines. The all time favorite was a hike to Charlies, where the children went by bunk and spent as long as they wanted choosing candy. Hadassah had the best softball team in lower camp and the entire division turned out to see them beat Esther 10-1, in fine form. For the last night of camp and probably the most exciting, we had a co-ed trip to see "The Deep".The best part of the evening was the return journey, when we stopped off at the Polar Bear and spent our last nickels and dimes!

In August, life in Hadassah was always a surprise. The overnight canoe trip became a second day trip and each time we planned a visit to Ghost Town, the weather decided it did not want us to leave good old CLC. So, we eventually arranged to get there only the day before we all went home. Apart from the usual outings to Charley's, we had walks to Pinchot Falls, a Birthday party at the beach and a talent competition. Our talents were shown elsewhere too, in make-up costumes and preparing for our major co-eds with Judah. We had a masquerade party, a Washington Square night, a Las Vegas gambling casino, and a Greaser Night. It all ended with a giant cookout in the amphitheatre. All in all, August proved to be a month of unexpected surprises, where we can honestly say we had F.l.T.S.

Oh, V/hat A Month! August of '77 was one full of highlights for Judah division, which with the Judah-Hadassah Shabbat Service based on the theme of "Camp Traditions". This service was so excellent, that we were asked to perform once again on visiting day. The following week, we were

i the first and indeed the only division in camp to spend three days and two nights at the newly * opened Milford Reservation, where campers participated in Ecology studies, serving and preparing . food, star gazing, fishing, boating, playing ball and generally having a good time. On Thursday, j of the same week, we had our first of two successful canoe trips down the Delaware River. And, who could forget the Olympics on a Tuesday, followed by Ghost Town on a Wednesday, (both with

| Hadassah girls) along with a lazy day breakfast on Thursday? As if this wasn't enough, Judah division built a spook house in the Senior Rec for carnival during the final week of camp. This last week was culminated with our special cookout with Hadassah division, along with a season ending

I "awards" campfire. It was indeed a satisfying month.

«July was the month that the sun shone and shone and shone except, when the overnight was washed away, except, when the canoe trip was rained out, except, on Tuesdays, when cook- outs were a race against rain, except, when we ambushed the service personnel with water

i balloons. Remember also, the dried-out Stokes Trip, ten miles and no water and swimmingi in the luke warm lake. Do you recall the shining silver shower house and the electrically

charged caravan? We tried, but we couldn't forget Judah in July 1977*

Esther was filled in July with 68 very enthusiastic campers. V/e began with a simple evening of different kinds of games, a fire, roasting marshmallows and singing the night away. The month that followed was filled with activities to suit everyone's taste. For the more energetic type, we had our all-star softball games and mini-olympics. To fit the tastes of others as well, we wrote divisional songs, put on skits, had hikes to Milford, and to cool-off during the heat wave, had a water fight that almost put CLC six feet under. Other special programs included Greaser Night, a Masguerade Party, a Marathon Dance, the Esther-Reuben Special Cook-out, a trip to Ghost Town, and our Canoe Trip. We all had fun this month and all our 8 weeker campers and staffknow August is going to be another hit.

Though the August activities were a little different than July, the excitement of them did not change. This month, we went not on one, but, two camp trips. Promised Land State Park for a day, and than moving to an evening activity, the movie "Rollercoaster", with an added attraction of going to an ice cream stand near by. Our all-star games still continued, winning some and losing others. We, of course, had our big cookout, our cooks making it as delectable as before.

And, who can forget the carnival, the food and games, and prizes. Olympics was also a smash hit, with a lot of friendly competition. I think the kids wishes it lasted forever. So, these are some of our highlights. Let's hope next year is as good as this.

But boy, did we get TAC1 A close game, and Deborah came out on top in extra innings. Casino night and the Costume Party were quite successful as well. Upper camp Olympics were spectacular and everybody showed great team spirit. "Rollercoaster" was good, but it wasn't "Star Wars". Sorry gang, but we tried! A summer we'll never forget, TAC 1977, a summer experience in which we reached new heights of independence, community action, learning and fun. We initiated our new TAC laundry this summer, becoming the only camp to be self-reliant in this important area. We improved TAC facilities by converting the old bike shed into a new arts and crafts building (TAC's NAC) , where creative candle-making flourished. We also renovated old canoes and our photo shed; built furniture, cubbies and an outdoor shower; and beautified our camp with decoupaged signs and botique- wallhanging masterpieces! In the area of community service, the Milford and Matamoras Day Camps, the St. Francis Hospital Volunteer Program, and the CIT program provided each of us with the opportunity to help others. TAC's programming this summer was highlighted by our fabulous trips: Boston and Cape Cod, "Star Wars" and dormitory living in Cornell, and the Sooper-Dooper-Looper in Hershey Park. Reminisce for a moment through our other fun-filled programs... remember election night speeches and Ath of July "fireworks"; all male beauty contests and costume parties (KISS!); canoe trips and van trips; TAC vs. the Harlem Wizzards and our trip to Masad; Duck, Duck, Goose on the Ba11 field and waterballoon fights in the mud (who says you can't have organized fun!); the juke box in the REC Hall and that great pool table; weekly Friday night mini-banquets and monthly extravaganzas; kayaks on the lake and pottery making on the wheels; great Karen-Ami Carnivals; Saturday morning communication workshops and late night rap groups; and last but not least, Teen Camp's hilarious production of the "Odd Couple", performed at Lake Como and CLC.The summer was indeed outstanding, and so we'll always remember our summer of '77 at TAC.
