Hazardous Weather
In rain, fog, sleet, hail, and snow:
• Reduced visibility
• Surfaces can quickly become slippery
• Stopping distances increase
• Curb ramps and sidewalks can be blocked
Behavior can change with the weather.
Sun Glare
• Sun glare can impair drivers’ ability to see.
• Rush hour is often the time when sun glare is strongest, from about 7:30-9 a.m. & from 5-6:30 p.m.
• When the sun is at your back, assume that cars moving towards you cannot see you at all

Wear:• Comfortable boots or shoes
that provide traction
• Brimmed hat for sun
Dress for the weather!
No sandals or flip flops!

• Make sure traffic stops before stepping into the road.
• Plan an escape.
• Wear safety vest outside of all clothing.
In bad weather, be extra careful:
No Umbrellas
Traffic Incident Reporting
• Carry a pen and notepad• Record a description • Report violation to supervisor• Do not disrupt crossing
Report traffic violations that endanger crossing:
Emergencies
• Protect yourself and the children first.
• Only care for injured if trained.
• Do not help if you are injured.
• Try to prevent additional damage or injury.
