Technology
Just push a button and get the class?
What do we want students to know?
How do we use technology to stay relevant?

Working with your LIBRARY
Conduct an audit of your holdings in Psych/Soc
Obtain a copy of all requests/purchases made by your department in the past 5 years.
Ask a Librarian to come to a department meeting to
demonstrate what resources are available for student
research/projects (credible sources?)
Invite Librarian to your class to help at beginning of research project

Problem: plagiarism Can we solve it by setting up our classes differently?

Creating connections
By directing students to particular websites, and exposing them to discipline specific information from sources that may be new to them, we can model good online research practices and media literacy
It can also prevent plagiarism if we keep changing the assignments and ask specific questions related to our chapters

New possibilities for instruction and assessment
Learning THROUGH technology, not just FROM technology
Direct students to specific websites, helping them make connections between our courses and contemporary debates or issues
Use technology to create and collaborate (students) and spice up online and F2F classes (instructors)
Share with colleagues- campus/department sessions
Library! What do you have? Use it!
