About the courseNEBOSH International General Certificate is a globally recognized health and safety qualification

which is intended for companies or individuals working to international standards with regards to

Health, Safety & Environment as this course focuses on the International Labor Standards (ILO)

codes of practice.

Upon successful completion of the certificate, delegates can apply for a membership with

Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and/or International Institute of Risk and

Safety Management (IIRSM) as its qualification meets the academic requirements for Technician

Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the IIRSM.

Who should register for this course

This course is suitable for individuals who aspire to gain health & safety knowledge on how to

manage risks and hazards in any area of any business. It is also particularly suitable for

individuals who are interested to embark on a career in the Health, Safety and Environment.

Course Content

The syllabus is divided into 3 units, (1) Management of International Health and Safety; (2)

Control of International Workplace Hazards; and (3) International Health and Safety Practical

Application. Each of the first two units is further divided into a number of elements.

There are 16 elements which cover a range of workplace hazards and methods of control and areas follows:

1. Foundations in health and safety

2. Policy

3. Organizing for health and safety

4. Promoting a positive health and safety culture

5. Risk assessment

6. Principles of control

7. Monitoring, review and audit

8. Occupational incident and accident investigation, recording and reporting

9. Movement of people and vehicles hazards and control

10. Manual and mechanical handling hazards and control

11. Working equipment hazards and control

12. Electrical hazards and control

13. Fire hazards and control

14. Chemical and biological health hazards and control

15. Physical and psychological health hazards and control

16. Construction activities hazards and control

The third unit which is the International Health and Safety Practical Application is aimed at

assessing a candidates ability to complete successfully two activities and they are as

follows:

a) Safety Workplace Inspection

b) Report Writing

Course Duration and Assessment

The training is spread over 10 days plus 2 days for examinations. There will be written

examinations on the 11th

day which constitutes paper 1 (Management of International

Health and Safety) and paper 2 (Control of International Workplace Hazards), each lasting 2

hours. The 12th

day is the practical assessment which comprises of site inspection and

report writing.

Participants must achieve the minimum pass standard in all examinations and assessment

to be awarded the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and

Safety

All cancellations must be in writing and cancellation fees shall apply: cancellations made 4 weeks prior to

the course start date shall be charged AED 180 as administration fee; 50% of the total fees for

cancellations made 2 to 3 weeks before the start of the course; 100% of the total fees if less than 2 weeks
