TThis past September 15 was the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows. It follows on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and we have an historic statue in our possession. It was acquired back in 1924 and is need of repair.
We will be fixing it and if anyone would like to contribute please make a gift in an envelope or with a check that has Our Lady of Sorrows in the description.

This year, the of Diocese of Providence’s Society For The Propagation of The Faith has assigned Maryknoll Lay Missioners to present their Annual Mission Appeal at Holy Ghost Parish. Maryknoll Lay Missioners is one of the largest U.S. Catholic organizations sending laypeople into global mission. Over the past four and a half decades, we have prepared and sent more than 700 missioners who have accompanied people experiencing poverty and marginalization around the world. Through our ministries in Bolivia, Brazil, El Salvador, Cambodia, Haiti, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan and at the U.S.-Mexico border, we seek to change unjust structures, foster hope, and promote reconciliation. We assist those living in extreme poverty, vulnerable children, refugees and migrants, those living with illnesses or disabilities, and persons who are imprisoned or homeless or suffer discrimination or persecution. Your donations will allow Maryknoll Lay Missioners to prepare and sustain laypeople in global mission and to help build a more just, compassionate and sustainable world. benefit the Maryknoll Lay Missioners.
TThe Saint Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Ghost Church is continuing to run a food pantry and other services for those in need. Please visit us or call the
rectory at (401) 421-3551. The food pantry is open each Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. It is located at the back of the rectory.
All of last year we served 105 families. The total this year, as of July, is 190. We are also able to help families who are under quarantine because of COVID-19.

To First Communion Parents and Children
We are excited to announce that First Communion for the children that were preparing for it this past year will scheduled for October 24, 2020 at 11:00am.
In order for the children to be properly prepared, we will be requiring them to work from home for the next four weeks. Each weekend there will be a “Bag of Blessings” for the First Communion students. Their names will be on the
bags for them to take at the (ramp) entrance.
Please help your child with their prayers and with the included activities. Also, parents please read the letter enclosed in the first “Bag of Blessings” on September 27, 2020. If you have any questions please contact the office. Thank you!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PUBLIC MASSES 1. Catholics will continue to be
dispensed from Sunday Mass and Holy Day Masses, until further notice.
2. Access to the Mass will be limited.
• In order to be sure that we have enough space between parishioners only every third pew will be available. Families and those that live together may sit in the same pew, but in other cases there will only be two people in each pew. The Church will be full when each of the pews has either two unrelated people in it, or about 50 people are in the Church. Once the limit is reached anyone else who comes in will have to wait for the next Mass or will have to come back another day. We may implement a simple system to regulate Mass attendance at some time in the future.
3. Hand hygiene and masks are key. • Parishioners will be expected to
sanitize their hands immediately upon entry to the church. Likewise, they must wear a mask at all times, with the exception of receiving Holy Communion.
4. Singing will be limited. • There will be no choirs at this time,
and there will be limited singing among the congregation.
5. Parishioners will receive Holy Communion in a safe manner.
• Instructions will be given by Fr. Francesco at each Mass in the following weeks. There will be no Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at this time. Also, it is not necessary to receive Holy Communion at every Mass one attends, during this time or at any other time.
6. The Church will be sanitized after every Mass and parish event.
• This will take time and that is why the Mass schedule for Sundays has to be changed for now.
7. Budget envelopes will be submitted as you leave.
• Baskets will be present on both sides near the exit of the Church.
8. Avoid personal contact with anyone.
• The sign of peace, which is always optional, will remain suspended. Even though it saddens me to say this, please do not congregate before or after Mass during this time.
9. Those who are sick must stay home.
• Please be cautious, and when in doubt stay home.
