“A lot of stuff that you don’t learn out there on the work site, we get here at school. I think the hands-on approach is really important. As much as possible, the course is split around 50/50 between classroom and workshop, which is great. After sitting in the classroom, learning it, we get to go straight out into the workshop, tool belts on, and put what we’ve just learned into practice.
Every teacher has something different to offer. A lot of them come from a background of the industry and that’s probably one of the biggest benefits. After completing my course and become a qualified carpenter, I intend to open up my own business.”
David Certificate III in Carpentry
All our courses are designed to fully prepare you for work, and taught by industry-connected teachers who are experts in the field. Hands-on learning, industry-sourced projects and high-tech simulation labs will shape you into a stand-out graduate.
CONSTRUCTION HUBTo ensure you have the most up-to-date, industry-ready skills, you will learn in our world-class Construction Hub at Sunshine Campus. This state-of- the-art training facility boasts high-tech labs and dynamic workshops with the latest machinery and technologies.
The Construction Hub’s computer workstations give you access to discipline specific software for simulation and modelling, and experimental analysis.
Our Werribee East Campus has recently had a $2million update including a Westgate Tunnel Simulator replicating the Victorian Government’s major infrastructure project to offer students practical experience with industry-leading equipment.
APPRENTICESHIPSAs an apprenticeship student, you’ll work on real-world projects with your employers and on campus. Campus projects can be small-scale activities or part of larger programs, such as our full-scale Live Works transportable homes that are sold to the public upon completion.
