Zannoni ‘s research interests
Professor of Microbiology at the Dept. of Pharmacy & Biotechnology of the University of Bologna – Italy. Research’sfellow at the St. Louis Medical School, St. Louis MO, USA (1977-78). In 1981, 1983 and 1991, EMBO’s fellow at the St.Andrews University, Scotland U.K.; CNRS-CEA Saclay, France; University of Göttingen, Germany. Present scientificinterests: microbial remediation of metals and metalloids in planktonic cells and biofilms, microbial production of metalnanoparticles, molecular mechanisms of bacterial movement and biofilm formation, alkane and naphthenic aciddegradation by Rhodococcus spp. Author and/or co-author of more than 150 publications, and several text-books forstudents. From 2003 to 2006, prof. Zannoni served as President of the Italian Society of Microbiology and MicrobialBiotechnology (SIMGBM), while from 2004 to 2010 he has been the Head of the Dept. of Biology of the University ofBologna and from 2015 to 2018, member of the Board of Directors of the University of Bologna – Bologna Italy.
