It’s just so easy to use and has reduced the amount of time we spend organizing information; moreover, we’re very happy with the customer service, why would we use anything else?” – Danielle Shnider, Market Research and Trade Show Manager, New England Biolabs New England Biolabs, Inc. New England Biolabs was established in the mid 1970s. It specializes in providing reagents, tools and the basic building blocks for businesses and consumers to perform genomic research. With over 35 years of experience, NEB is dedicated to providing the highest performing research tools to the scientific community. With a modern fermentation center and fully equipped laboratories for production, quality control, product development and basic research, NEB’s continued growth has allowed it to remain at the forefront of its industry. As one of the first companies to shape the biotechnology industry, NEB places the utmost importance on efficiency and expediency when supplying products and supporting its clients in such industries as biotech, pharmaceutical and higher education. With a large number of loyal customers, New England Biolabs relies heavily on vendor and trade shows for new customer acquisition and lead generation. Trade Shows Before FatStax New England Biolabs has a complex product catalog with over 1,500 unique products with very specific technical uses. End users and prospects often ask technical questions of the Sales and Marketing group at New England Biolabs during vendor and trade shows. “During trade shows, the Sales team would write down hundreds of contacts onto various pieces of paper, and then the Marketing team would transfer those names to an excel document once the show was over. It wasn’t an efficient use of our time, and the process added several additional days to the follow-up process. Those extra days could be detrimental in the sales process,” said Danielle Shnider, Market Research and Tradeshow Manager of New England Biolabs. In addition, to close the loop, trade show contacts needed to be sent the correct product information that was requested at the show. Days and even weeks could go by before all of the follow up was completed. The Solution: FatStax The combination of a complex catalog of products and the potential for lost opportunities drove NEB to seek a solution. “The implementation process was a breeze—we didn’t even need to involve our IT department. We were incredibly impressed with the service and attention we received during the integration process.”

– Danielle Shnider, Market Research and Trade Show Manager, New England Biolabs

NEB chose FatStax because it provides instant, offline access to detailed information about the company’s 1,500 plus products and the ability to deliver that information to prospects instantly. The app also aggregates the names of contacts into a list with the products they were interested in, so the team wouldn’t have to go back through emails or hand-written lists to match prospects to products.

The FatStax Content Manager gives NEB’s Marketing team a single repository to deliver updated product information and collateral to Sales team’s iPads, ensuring everyone has the most up-to-date information.

Fast Implementation without IT Because iPads were still extremely new to the business world in late 2010, NEB relied on the FatStax team to quickly deploy a sales and marketing application to their team.

“The implementation process was a breeze – we didn’t even need to involve our IT department. We were incredibly impressed with the service and attention we received during the integration process. The FatStax team was always available to answer our questions, offering top-notch support. Anytime we provided suggestions to make the app better tailored to our needs, they listened, quickly implementing any requests,” says Shnider.

Expedited Delivery and Effective Time Management New England Biolabs now uses FatStax at every trade show and event in order to organize information, capture contacts with their interests and follow-up instantly.

“FatStax is the first place we go when sending product information to customers from the field and capturing their contact information. It’s just so easy to use and has

reduced the amount of time we spend organizing information; moreover, we’re very happy with the customer service, why would we use anything else?” says Shnider.

NEB was also impressed with how intuitive and easy-to-use FatStax was. “We often bring non-Sales people to trade shows. Because FatStax is so user friendly, everyone’s been able to figure it out and start using it very quickly,” says Shnider.

“Furthermore, there’s a wow factor to the speed in which we can supply additional information.” With a tap of a button NEB is able to email prospective clients the resource they need to make a purchase decision, leaving them impressed.

Driving More Efficiency with FatStax Innovations NEB has since taken advantage of many FatStax Platform upgrades including releasing a private branded version of the app featuring the company’s butterfly logo, images of key products and aiding the European distributor channels.

NEB plans to integrate the app with salesforce.com to automate lead capture from the iPads. The company also plans to take advantage of the new FatStax for iPad 2.0 features including instant, offline access to PDF brochures, videos, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Word documents.
