Bare Excellence is a consultancy company that

offers local hospitality support to upcoming, new

and established hotels, restaurants, bars and

retail outlets. Taking the hard work to achieve

our clients’ service and financial goals, we strive

to make a success of every project.

The company set up in 2013, was founded by

two passionate career hoteliers, Reuben Kagai

and Wallace Waweru who felt that the local

hospitality scene needed local hospitality solutions.

1. Customer Evaluation

Bare Excellence offers customer evaluation

through mystery audit ser vices for exist ing

hospitality establishments – hotels, restaurants

and bars as well as retail outlets.

Our mystery audits are carried out by trained

mystery auditors who will interact with our clients’

staff during everyday customer satisfaction and

customer service situations. Their reports give our

clients unbiased and accurate feedback. Using

their eyes our clients are able to see both what

their establishment is doing well and where

additional training or investment is required.

Each of our clients’ mystery audits are customized to ensure their

unique requirements are met so as to give the objective analysis

required for successful results!

We conduct three types of audits as detailed below;

Customer Service Audit

This will audit your establishment’s customer service delivery, we

will send our trained mystery auditors as ‘undercover’ customers to

analyse your services, products, controls and facilities (from an average

customers perspective) and from the reports generated, we will be

able to assist you to know where you stand in your customers eyes

and identify areas for improvement.

Internal Audit

This will audit your establishment’s internal processes,

we will send our trained mystery auditors as an

‘undercover’ employee to analyze your teams’ way

of working, underlying feelings, general treatment

and procedure adherence over a period of time.

In this way the heart of the establishment gets to

be heard, this will assist you to know where you

need to train, recruit or reward with no bias.

Benchmark Audit

This will audit your establishment’s competitors,

we will send trained auditors as ‘undercover’

customers to analyse how you compare to your

competi tors ser vices, products, controls and

facilities (from an average customers perspective).

The benchmark audit allows you to hear an unbiased opinion of

what your competition is doing from a customers’ perspective and use

this information to benchmark your establishment against competitors.

2. Concept Development

Bare Excellence with a team of talented consultants will formulate

new establishments through creative ideas for a competitive final

product. The creation of a Bare Excellence concept is driven by

our clients’ vision, modern trends, local market demands and value

for investment.

The concept would broadly include:

Architectural design and structure – identification of the most

suitable product to develop on the identified site.

3 year projected plan – revenue & cost budgets,

sales & marketing strategy, staffing requirements

& cost, capital investment recurrent requirements.

Operating equipment – kitchen fit out, furniture

& fittings, lighting & entertainment solutions and

communication systems.

Management overview – standard operating

procedures, food & beverage product, room

product, support activities (conferencing, children

games, groundhire options – weddings, private

parties etc), establishments information system

(point of sale systems, accounting &procurement

systems), maintenance contracts and security systems.

Competitor analysis - Analyze existing competitive facilities and

research any future changes (to the extent this information is available)

to ascertain market share for the proposed establishment.

3. System and Procedure Implementation

Bare Excellence provides workable solutions for establishments in

line with international and local industry standards. These are created

to directly influence the ability to deliver an exceptional service

experience and to impact the establishments overall consistency

and performance.

System Development & Impmementation – we create systems

designed for each establishment from Point of Sale, Reservation

and Front Office, Finance including procurement enabling efficient

service provision and daily operations.

Procedure Development & Implementation

These are carefully crafted manuals that form the

base of daily operations. Commonly referred to as

Standard Operating Procedures, the manuals will

define the establishment’s service essentials and

managerial standards.

Training and Recruitment

Bare Excellence training section was formed in

response to ski l ls shor tages, and our aim is to

develop and t ra in personnel in the indus t r y,

ra is ing standards and raising our clients’ team

performance and confidence. Courses and learning

programmes are available to all levels of operational

staff, and managers, with emphasis on quality and

efficiency.

Trainings are based in Nairobi, however geographical

location is not an issue, whether our clients are

based in Nairobi or any other county, we can provide

a suitable high quali ty training course tailored to

your needs.

Lead Consultants

Wallace Githegi

Wallace Githegi is a seasoned hotelier with over

10 years work experience in the hospitality industry

throughout East Africa in Rooms Division and

Food & Beverage Management. He is passionate,

resul ts oriented and a great team leader.

Bare Excellence prides itself in identifying and

assessing outstanding hospitality professionals

and recruiting them into roles anywhere in the

region. We understand that hospitality superstars

may be satisfied with their current employers and

will only move for a great opportunity. Finding

this prized candidate is not easy, but it’s what

we do well.

Reuben Kagai

Reuben Kagai is a passionate hotelier and innovative

visionary with strong analytical, diplomatic and

interpersonal skills geared towards guest oriented

solutions and financial success. He has over 11 years’

experience in the hospitality key being in system imple-

mentation, renovation projects as well as transition/

opening of new properties.

Through his success from working in Lodges,

Resorts and City Hotels throughout the region

with companies such as the Serena Group,

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Tamarind as well as

Wines of the World, he has vast hands-on

experience in adapting to different environments

and leading teams to achieving results.

Bare Excellence Board of Directors is a team of professional individuals with over 38 years’ of combined experience from the hospitality, sales & marketing and the banking industries.Their role is to guide Bare Excellence to achieve its overall business strategy ensuring financial success and client retention. The Board of Directors also serves the role of consulting on different projects to ensure our clients get a diverse and

holistic solution.
