NEW College A Level students Ben Cooke and James Coppin haveboth been offered places at Oxford University. Ben, who studied History,English and Geography, will take up a place at Balliol College and will bereading English. James Coppin, who studied Chemistry, Physics and Maths,will read Chemistry at Christchurch College.

Other successes include student, OscarHolch, who has been successful insecuring a place at the prestigious RoyalAcademy of Music in London.Oscar studied Government & Politics,History and Music at the sixth form, appliedfor both the Royal Academy of Music andthe Royal Northern College of Music andwas successful in both.

Already an established provider ofacademic excellence, this year,despite a well-publicised“toughening up” of the A-Level“gold standard”, students at thecollege achieved results giving anoverall pass rate of 99%, a highgrade rate of 46% and an A* to Crate of 74%.

Well over half of all A-Level subjectsoffered achieved a pass rate of100%.At AS level, the halfway point in astudent’s A-Level programme, thepass rate at high grade rate soaredto its highest level ever, placing it wellabove the national average, andsecuring the college’s reputation as atop provider of post-16 educationand qualifications.NEW College’s Principal, PaulineHagen, said: “Once again, it isstudents and staff who haveprovided these fantastic statistics,which reflect so well on the College.We are very proud of them andgrateful to their parents who supportus so well.”
