a huge success! People came from all over the
area and a phenomenal £1035.75 was raised!
Sarah Hnatyszyn, the organiser , would like to say
a HUGE thank you to those who came and sup-
ported the event, to the amazing volunteers who
worked so hard to make it a great day, the stall-
holders who brought their beautiful items, and to
the lovely people/organisations who donated such
fantastic prizes for the tombola and raffle! The
money raised will go a long way towards helping
Breast Cancer Care provide vital support and infor-
mation to women and men diagnosed with breast
cancer. Watch this space for another Big Pink

THE THEATRE IS RETURNING TO
WRAWBY!
Due to the success of the last visit of the Library Theatre, two years ago, the Village Hall commit-tee is arranging another production with the same company on Friday 23rd February 2018.
This time the production will be “2 Talking Heads” by Alan Bennett. The two pieces are “A Lady of Letters” & “Bed Among the Lentils” which are quite different in content but sound interesting!
Tickets will cost £6 and there will be light re-freshments in the interval and a raffle.
The evening is to raise funds for the village hall.
Further details will be in the February magazine but if anyone wishes to reserve seats please ring Susan on 01652 653699.
Last time tickets sold out well before the day & some people were unable to come that night. So book early to avoid disappointment!

Wrawby Parish Council N Lincs in Bloom Further to the advices in last month’s magazine, Council will be applying for funds from N. Lincs Council for the continued purchase of plants etc. Cllr Mrs Kay Rothery is dealing with this for the council and volunteers to assist Kay in this matter would be most appreciated. Please ring Kay on 653315. Village Hall Floor Recently Council has been concerned over the con-dition of the Village Hall floor and an estimate to carry out work to restore and re-seal the floor has been received at £3880 + vat. Council is looking at applying for a N. Lincs Community Grant for funds towards the cost. Further information will be given in due course. (We have recently been advised that the
application for the grant has been unsuccessful—Editors) Revised Speed Limit Residents will have seen that the 30mph speed
limit notices (replacing the 40mph stretch) are now in place from the edge of the Village on Melton Road. Sponsorship Scheme Roundabouts A scheme for advertising on some roundabouts in the area is being set up and will shortly be imple-mented. Waste bins Concern has recently been felt that the number of waste bins in Wrawby has declined to an unsatis-factory level and this matter was raised at the meeting. The new style bus shelter across from Vic-arage Motors (previous one demolished by a car colliding with it) is not suitable to have a waste bin, so a new one there, on a separate pole, is shortly to be erected. It is hoped that more bins, to be situated around the village, will be purchased and erected in the near future. Regards Graham Foster

The Lyndhurst Singers Wednesday 06th December 7.30 – 9.30 in Saint John’s
About the choir:
Formed in 2016, The Lyndhurst Singers are a vocal ensemble of 9 members who aim to deliver high quality, mostly unaccompanied choral music to venues across Lincolnshire and Humberside. We sing a range of classical music from the 1500s to the present day, and choral arrangements of popular songs and show music in concert. We also pro-vide music, including sung Eucharist, Evensong and other services, for churches without a resident choir or to mark a special occasion for the Church community.
About the concert:
The music in this concert is based on a theme 'Mother and Child', and will depict Mary's story from the Visitation to the birth of Jesus. Familiar carols will be interspersed with some European choral music from the last 500 years. Join The Lyndhurst Singers in a special musical event for Advent. There will be something for everyone to enjoy, and there may be a UK premiere!

Around Wrawby The editors are happy to include details of villagers’ births, marriages and funerals that are held in venues other than Wrawby church. Please inform them using the details on page 2. Wrawby St Mary’s School has asked that we remind people to park responsibly when dropping off, picking up or attending events at school. This includes not parking on the grass, blocking local residents drives or parking in Wold Court. Parking is available near the Village Hall. Also an informal one way system that operates at pick up and drop off times going clockwise around Vicarage Gardens, Vicarage Avenue, Vicarage Road and Chapel Lane. This is done to ease congestion and others may find it helpful to follow at these times. Village Hall: If you’re looking for the perfect venue to hold your party, reception or meeting, have you thought about Wrawby Village Hall? “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year” used to be the traditional Christmas greeting. These days the politically correct greeting on most cards is a rather limp “Seasons Greetings”. Perhaps this is because we now think merry means ‘getting drunk’. Perhaps mentioning Christmas could be thought to give offence to members of other faiths. Perhaps there are even problems in inviting people to be happy when the economic forecasters tell us that this New Year is going to be a lot less fun than for many years past. If so, the question we are faced with could be this: If you can no longer afford to buy your designer T-shirts in the New Year sales, can you still be happy? Old fogeys like me would say, ‘Yes, of course you can!’ Anyone who can still remember using their ration book in the years after the Second World War will know this. We know from experience that getting more and more possessions, or even giving more and more expensive presents to our kids, doesn’t actually make us (or the kids) any happier. Buy a small child an expensive toy for Christmas, and the chances are he or she will get most fun from playing with the wrapping! Perhaps happiness and fun are not really the same thing. Certainly people have been asking for centuries, ‘What must I do to be happy?’ Happiness, it seems, is one of these things that comes as a by-product, an ‘add-on’ when we focus
our attention in another direction. Who are the people you know who seem genuinely happy, come what may? OK, they may have their little grumbles about this or that – but deep down you can see that they are at peace with themselves; they’re getting a sense of fulfilment out of life. Maybe, when you look more closely, you can see that the things these people value most are not the things they get out of life – like the clothes or the gizmos, the bigger house or the faster car – but the things they contribute to life, the things that keep them busy and that they believe are genuinely worthwhile. Jesus Christ is quoted memorably as listing all sorts of unlikely people who will be the most open to finding true happiness – and in some ways the list is quite shocking. Jesus identifies people who are humble, those who are spiritually hungry, those who are mourners, those who help others to cope with their failings, those who are honest with themselves, those who work for peace – even those who have a rough time because others do not like what they are doing. Find a Bible and read the beginning of St Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 5. If you are forced to spend less cash this Christmas, but are able to give more time to caring for one another, you may be surprised to find that this is the merriest Christmas you have had for ages. What’s more, this could set you up for a really happy New Year.
