THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS
Legislators take ideas from constituents
and propose legislation.
A Bill or Resolution is introduced in the House or Senate.
The legislation is assigned to a committee for
review.
Edited legislation passes out of
committee and moves to the Rules
Committee.
Legislation passed out of Rules returns to the whole chamber.
Legislation is debated on the floor
and voted on.
Passed legislation goes to the opposite
chamber for consideration.
Bills and resolutions passed by both
chambers are sent to the governor.
The governor signs legislation into law.
